DoodlyPear My opinion is that he is just happy being him, being alive, being amongst his fellow man even though he has no worldly goods(possessions). In the 1st verse he wakes up from sleeping on the ground and shakes the leaves off himself down to the brown earth. Then he walks under the shade of the trees, meaning he feels and reacts to what he feels(hot and cold). He’s alive. He then sees his brothers and sisters(the humanity around him) all different colors. He sees them like no other - he sees them in a different way, they are all his brothers and sisters. We are one family. And it’s a good day for him, it’s a good day to be(alive). My interpretation.

by far the best version of this song. as Mark Knopfler's wife once said, when you take away the twiddly bits that everyone loves, it removes the soul of it. this one has those twiddly bits.

I don't really care about it, I've been listening to this song since 2 weeks after it released. Anyway, they really deserve it.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. Its got a nostalgic feel, and has all the feels.

I was shocked by this! Absolutely the same as the studio version, so much talent!

So I'm watching the Grammys and the two of you come out, never heard of you guys, never heard your music, what impressed me while you were being interviewed was how humble you both are.
