Nobody's really sure who first munched on cheese-flavored popcorn with caramel coated popcorn at the same time, but one born-in-Chicago snack shop capitalized on the idea (among other flavors) and became a nationwide - if not global - success. Caught snoozing on their laurels, however, Garrett Popcorn Shops was outmaneuvered by a company in St. Paul, Minnesota, which successfully staked a copyright claim on the name "Chicago Mix" and now blocks anyone else from using it. Either way, Chicago still gets the credit!
