Chicago Style Eats - Episode 0112 - Flaming Saganaki

Saganaki gets its name from the Greek word for the small, two-handled pan - the sagani - that foods are cooked in. Food prepared in this type of pan is a long-held tradition in Greece. Chicago's twist? Set it on fire! First seen likely at the Parthenon in Greek Town in 1968 (closed in 2016), the blazing spectacle caught on at other Greek places in town and, before long, the crowd-pleasing gimmick spread - much like fire - across the US and, perhaps, the rest of the world
...except in Greece. Probably.

My late wife and I had our engagement party at Diana's with Petros (The man that kissed 1 million women) almost 50 years ago. It was wild. Every table in the restaurant stood up at one point or another and toasted our party and our future wedding. We did shots of Metaxa every time somebody yelled opa!
