I’ve had my Rav4 for about two years and had these crazy problems consist overtime and it still drives, there’s a Speed Sensor Check Engine Light that appears after a rainstorm and when it does the speedometer shoots to 80km while stationary, the only way to drive my vehicle is to turn on high beam or my vehicle will shake and stall completely then the speedometer drops to 0 and doesn’t move at all when driving, on top of this morning i started my vehicle and no power came on so i unplugged the terminal and put back onto the battery then it worked but here’s the weird part the rpm goes from 1000 to 0 within a good 30 seconds and stalls when no gas is pushed down and the car shakes like crazy while the whole speedometer thing is happening, fast forward into the next day after a thunderstorm last night i decided to start my vehicle and expected the worst, but my car works fine the rpm read 1500 on start and slowly went to 1000 and stuck to it and speedomoter works without turning high beam on..what should i do as the check engline light for this code is still there???

Please I have a 08 Camry v6 with the u660e transmission It has a po500 code on the dtc But everything works fine the transmission shifts well The abs works well no warning lights Should I be worried??

I have this code showing on my toyota yaris 2008 and have the sensor and Ecu replaced and it's still the same with gear 3 to 8 sluggish shifting and it's still showing p0500 . Any other things to check for possible solutions

From your experience with Toyota Is it possible for the p0500 to be a faulty abs speed sensor without the abs light on, just the cel along with tracoff and vsc? I changed my speed sensor to the trans but lights and issue still there

i bought a bluetooth plug in, that transmits to my tablet, with the OBD LINK app!!! its as good as a 1200 dollar scanner..... 😉😁

I have a question what happens if you dnt have any code but the speed is not reading correct I’m driving slow and the speedometer shows I’m going faster than I am is that the same should I change it

It could be a bad sensor, but it can also be in the wiring or the gauge cluster.

I just got one on my Toyota 17 camry but the abs or treck lights are not on, only the check engine light

My Camry 04 shift to all gears grinding sound car won't move,code p0500a.what is wrong? It is only code p0500a.i changed transmission sensor underneath of battery still grinding when put in reverse, neutral or drive. Please HELP... Thanks.

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) needs to be tested to see if it has failed. If it is good, then there is likely an issue in the wiring.

My 2005 Sienna gave me a sustained P0500 code along with an ABS light. I then replaced the battery (for another reason) and the code went away but the ABS light is still on. Does anyone know what this could be?

Speedometer not working

One man replaced alternator then p0500 was not come again

ok, i have a Sienna(2004). the owner was at 65 mph and the tranny "disconected", literally shifted into neutral and never went into gear again. got it home, read a p0500 code and he swapped out both transmission speed sensors. still popping p0500. still in neutral. shifter is perfect, no bad plastic grommets 😆😆 so not being here, whats your impression of this problem....?? also, what kind of scanner do you have, i grew up in the era of using a 32 inch phillips head screwdriver and putting it to your ear..... 🤣🤣🤣as an advanced diagnostic tool..... 😂😂😂😂

It is hard to say, but I would check the wiring and the reluctor ring teeth.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 put it up on jackstands, climbed under and discovered the half shaft clamp was dangling, the shaft had slipped 4 inches out so, there wasnt any teeth to read!!!! 15 bucks later he was back on the road! 😁
