ABS Wheel Sensor Replacement & Sensor Ring Cleaning - EASY How To!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to Replace an ABS Wheel Sensor & Clean ABS Sensor Tone Ring & Sensor Tip This is an easy project that most anyone can do and is basically the same for most makes and models of cars and trucks.
ABS Sensors go bad for various reasons and will cause your ABS light to go on. You could have a dirty sensor tip. It is magnetic and picks up metal shavings which can cause the light to come on. You can also get a dirty ABS Sensor Ring which can cause the light to go on. Cleaning both of these issues can fix your problem and cause the light to go off.
You may also have a bad sensor. If your ABS Light comes on you can take your car or truck to a mechanic or select parts store and have their computer read that ABS issue and it will tell you where the problem is coming from.
This Video will show the the simple steps to take to remedy ABS issues related to the Sensor and Sensor Ring. This project was done on a Toyota Camry.

one of the best videos on you tube-regardless of the topic. you presented the procedure in orderly sequence of steps which make sense. Just watching it, and reading a comment from one of the viewers who said he had 2 lights on the dashboard (brake system and ABS-exactly what I have in my car) I have a sensation , I found the solution I was looking for . And even if not, still a great video.

Wish I had seen this video sooner. Was having ABS/Traction Control lights coming on. The speed sensor was not the issue. Instead it was the sensor ring on the axle; it was cracked. But I thought the sensor ring was part of the wheel bearing as I kept seeing in other videos. I'm glad the mechanic found this out and didn't just replace the wheel bearing!

I understand removing the metal shavings, and all, but if the shavings are the culprit, then it (logically) would mean that the sensor is still good, right? And, once cleaned of the shavings, should work properly, right? Did you check the old sensor, then? What if it was OK?

Just because the code says it's a sensor failure. You may first clean the dirty tip. Once cleaned the sensor might function

why does it look like the sensor was touching against the sensor wheel or gear teeth? thats normal? and also if you wasnt going to change the sensor, can you clean them with brake fluid and towel as well?

I would use electrical cleaner on the sensor rather than brake cleaner, as it can damage it.

I am going to check the cable going to the sensor first for resistance ohms. Then if good wires, clean the pocket like you did. Before I spring for a cable and sensor.

I can believe that. As stuck as mine was, found my way here to see if a glue or silicone-type sealant was needed for the replacement to keep dirt and water out. So far it seems to be a no.
