My brother i don't know you in person but God used you to save for me more than 120,000 naira. I was lying down after I came back from my mechanic thinking of how to raise such amount of money to buy a second hand gearbox and engine owing to the fact that my engine is getting bad...but you saved me. As I was lying down a voice told me to research on youtube and source for help and i dowmloaded about 7 videos,yours was the last and indeed the last but not the least.I went to my car and located the speed sensor only to find out that the red wire in the sensor got cut. I rebinded it carefully and my speedeometer started reading and my gear selection became perfect...I will remain eternally grateful.God bless you more...

2 shops told me that I needed a new transmission. I watched some videos, and changed the speed input sensor for 25$ and completely fixed it. Unbelievable.

@@swampcrawlerls1267 Wow...this is exactly what mine does. Not until I switch off and on the car before it starts to shift normal. And after sometime time (especially when I get to a stop sign) it starts to shift hard again. Also, all the time when shifting from 1 to 2 it revs high then jerks mad before it shifts into 2. I have been skeptical about some solutions I have seen online, but I will try this fix first. I use '03 Honda Accord (v4)

My speedometer isn’t working but when my truck shifts it’s RPMs fly to about 3-4 thousand and shifts hard every other shift after that isn’t that hard of a shit, this will help me a lot thanks for the upload

K2four so did this fix your issue? I haven't experienced a complete failure of the sensor (it worked fine to and from work today) but I feel it's only a matter of time. Did you pull any codes? I got P0722 and 0723 which is basically no signal and intermittent signal from output shaft sensor. There were no other codes suggesting that it might be a transmission issue.

***** yes had to do it twice, first sensor worked for about 2 months , No issues for the last 10 months with the new sensor. I did pull the codes but im not sure if they are the same ones you got. Same here with not experiencing a complete failure .

I have an 03 Honda Accord V6 that has a problem, when It switches from 2nd to 3rd gear It revs a lil higher than It should before actually switching gears. It almost seems as If though the car doesn't gave as much power until I switch to 4th and It feels normal again. Could that be a speed sensor? The "D" on my dash blinks after driving for a bit. But that light has been blinking for about 50k miles when I got the car at 72k miles and It's at 127k miles now.

I have a Daewoo Lacetti Premier 2009 (the one which looks like a Chevy Cruze). I want to know where is the VSS. Is it located somewhere outside and easy to reach or is it part of the inside of the transmission which may required opening the entire transmission?

I have a Mazda 5 2006. It is based on the 3. AT light kept coming on. Note that in my case, turning the car on and off usually reset the system and it worked for a few more days. I also got a check engine code that indicated transmission input turbine speed sensor error (p0715). The part is hard to get to, and I learned some things if I ever have to do it again...however, the car now shifts perfectly...no more thunking into gear or downshifting into 3rd gear in limp-mode. I had to remove the battery tray and battery and that was the hardest part - but only a few hours. This is not an all day job. I thought I was going to have to have a new transmission. any tips for digging a broken and seized one out? im about to remove the wheel and go through the side with the mount off giving me more room to work. I need to replace the mount anyways.. but its broken down to just a small rim of metal, and the plastic thats in the hole itself. I pulled the metal rod/pin out of the center. I just need to dig it out and im not having much luck. Its seized hard in there, even though i know its just that damn rubber ring holding it in.

I'm not a mechanic, but my opinion is; I noticed it's a 1996 car. That's very old. How many miles on that ? How many times has the transmission fluid been flushed ? How many times have you had the transmission gasket and filter replaced ? It could be just a speed sensor, but I doubt it. A car that old, I don't believe it's just a speed sensor; but then again, I could be wrong.

Recently in my 2000 Nissan Altima, I'm not able to punch the gas and pass other vehicles on Freeway. Transmission shifts good, clean Atf with good service. Car will get up to speed but no power wheen needed. Would appreciate any feedback.

While I'm not a mechanic; how's your vacuum system ? To me, it sounds like it could be an ugly vacuum leak somewhere. How's the EGR , EGR silonoid ? PCV valve ? If push comes to shove, how's your catalytic converter ? I don't think it's your cat converter, your car not that old yet. But then again, I could be wrong on all these ideas, I'm not a mechanic. I do fix my own car, that's why I throw out there all these ideas.

I have a 05 chevy tahoe.. I got both sensor pretty cheap 50% off at a Advance auto that was going out of business.. I order alot of parts on rockauto.com.. A auto electrical mechanic could diagnose which sensor, but they charge about $125+... I just got both sensors and changed 1, still researching where the other sensor goes

Thanks my car wouldn't start I hooked up a code machine and it was the crankshaft position sensor than after about a day of having it back when I'm at a stop and take off my roms jump up but the car hesitates and takes forever to get up to speed I hooked up the code machine and it's the transmission speed sensor so hopefully this video helps me

I have a question see if you experiencing this issue? I have TL 06 A/T and for some reason shifting from 1st to 2nd gear it does a lil stuttering not a kick it is a light shaking while shifting then it keep shifting normal as I go with no problem I have put the ODB reader and does not find a code. At first I thought it was my transmission mounts but they look good I even replace them what you suggest it could be?

No but have you looked at the engine mounts , I had trouble with those as well . But that was more of a issue when the car was starting to move

Yeah I checked them Too .. Something else is that when I put the car on manual it shift gear just by accelerating the engine I don't think it should do that ? it should ask for each gear right ?

nobody ever mentions that there are two speed sensors input and output!

Yes agree. No body means the input sensor.

I have a 2004 Acura and my gears are going all over the place once the transmission is hot ! 3rd gear going 30 or so drops drastically! The at time just goes crazy as if it it wouldn’t read what gear is in

hi. first check the wiring with the professional car electrician. check the TCM if failing or not communicating properly. if has problem programme the replacing unit. then scan the car for any codes. your problem could be the speed control in let sensor replace it. its cheep

My car's gearbox sensor doesn't work and the engines revs too much and it's at 2k rpm even when not accelerating and the mileage doesn't add up anymore and engine lights are on. Are all these the symptoms of a faulty sensor or something else. Thank you for your replies.

Crazy to see how many people had a similar issue

My 2009 Nissan Altima was getting up to speed but if it got super hot (like on really long trips or something) it would lose speed until it hit about 65 then plateau. I’m guessing it’s a speed sensor issue

It’s the tranny overheating, i recommend you get a aftermarket transmission cooler, helped with my aunts Altima in long trips.

Was this the input or output sensor?

You might want to put a washer between the sensor and transmission...sensor is in too far down and the gear's grinding on the sensor.

Can the speed sensor cause issues shifting? I noticed my abs and check engine lights are on cause the sensor was damaged from improper installation when I had coilovers installed. However, I've noticed when shifting into REVERSE and DRIVE my vehicle sounds as if the power almost wants to go out slightly but never does and when in reverse sometimes the headlights randomly flick off and back on and everything is okay. Could this be a result of my abs speed sensor needing to be replaced???????

Bad speed sensors can cuase gear slamming!! As ecm doesn’t know the speed and tells tranny wrong speed to shift into!! I just replaced as lol four of my wheel hubs on my impala now it drives and shifts smooth!!

Yes , car is still running without any transmission issues

My 2005 chevy trailblazer would just rev up and not shift it ended up being inside the transmission pump it was the stator broke so it wouldn't build pressure. Hope this helps anyone.

Check fluids, check air filter!! Replace if need to! Use very strong fuel injector cleaner!! Check plugs, (regap) if possible otherwise replace!! These are cheapest ways to go! Oh! Also wiggle throttle body harness to see if any changes, as you may have frade wires

Hello, I have an 89 grand marquis and thought to change my transmission speed sensor as I’ve heard it can help with sloppy shifting as well as bouncy speedometer as this one sensor has both inputs. After changing the sensor (which was fairly simple to do) I bolted the negative wire back on the battery, went to start the car, but got no crank at all. Battery and electricity comes on fully charged, but starter is not even trying to crank. I tested the starter and it isn’t the starter. I am going to switch back to the old sensor tomorrow and see if it starts again, but would love to get any input you may have of this particular situation. Thank you for your time 🙏

You probably already fixed Yours by now but those cars have a negative cable a big one and then they have a smaller one and has a connector on it it get the bad connection in there sometime

attach your phone for speedometer reading

You just got lucky any vehicle that has speedometer problems should be hooked up to a scanner if the scanner is reading mph and your speedometer in the car is not reading mph then it's obviously the instrument cluster

My 1995 automatic Honda Accord EX does not shift once the car is at running temperature I also removed my TCU and it only lets me shift between 2nd and 3rd gear but for only like an hour what the hell is wrong other than the fact that it's automatic

It is unbelievable how crooked car mechanics will tell you anything/lie in order to make more money!! Crooks are not always hidden,theyre in plain sight in auto repair shops running a business!! What year is your car?? Besides a bad harness, area could be dirty, maybe blown fuse!! Check fuses!! Some shops charge very little to do a vehicle inspection!! Then fix the issue yourself!!

The car: 2001 Olds Aurora 4.0., 4T80E trans. It wouldn't shift out of 1st. I replaced the VSS. End of problem.
