@@ibrahimmiftari3826 fixing these problems. Two choices. Be willing to dump money into it no matter what it takes or take your losses and get another car. I had a nice Mercedes SUV. Did whatever I could to fix it. Am I willing to spend aleast $2000 in more parts and it still doesn't fix it ? This is one thing if noticed with all these plastic parts and cheap wires under the hood. They don't like heat. If you take a plug off a sensor, and the plastic is fragile and cracks easy, think about the rest of that plastic crap.

I was charging an accessory and it pulled my battery down. Had to jump start the car. Car went into limp mode scared me to death. Thought my transmission was out, it wouldn't shift. A mechanic cleared the code and all was well

2014 Eagle diesel Dodge Ram 3.0 easy fix There's a sensor on top of the engine right beside the turbo hose. The black square sensor on the engine pulls it off clean it put it back in, and your problem is solved. Spread this message around because this fix my truck it was a totally free Fix, everyone telling me that I needed to replace the engine or I needed a new Turbo😂

My wrench light is on the machines dont give out a code so they tells me to ignore it and other mechanics to but last time my car wrench light went on the car went on limp mode now its happening wrench light is on again last time i had to have motor and trans the trans 3 times replaced on guesses alot of money and im tired of living afraid of not being able to afford if its something simple or weve missed something . My dad bought me a Used 2006 Ford Explorer for me before he passed 4 years ago may he RIP I dont want to loose this car and Ive paid alot 2 years ago when this happened but no check engine.. Great video, thank you mate! I would like to add another comment about Limp Mode. I have an E46 BMW 328i, the car stood for 4 months while I was overseas with battery disconnected. Upon my return I connected the battery, car started first time but when I switched on the aircon the Limp Mode light came on & virtually no response from the accelerator. I would stop, switch off the car, restart and Limp Mode light would go out, I would then switch on aircon and car would go into Limp Mode again - this happened about 4 times. I got home, put a battery tester on the battery and it indicated that it was in a poor state of charge. I did an overnight charge and the problem solved. Cheers 🛠👍

Funny. It's also dangerous. Example. I just got on the freeway near home. Going 65. Limp mode hits car drops quick to 40 and is stuck in 2nd gear. Women behind me drives around me gets in front and hits her breaks. Yah break check. She thinks I slowed down on purpose just to piss her off. She got off the same next exit as me. Then started hitting breaks in front of me on the exit. So I try to just drive around her. But she speeds up.

Hi mate, my vw Passat 2.0tdi 2007 has a flashing glow plug light on and the car has no power after 2000rpm. Plugged in a computer and it saying dpf and glow plugs issue .can a blocked dpf coaurse the glow plug light to flash and go into limp mode. My Nissan maxima 2016 went in to limp mode once. My issue was that my alternator went out at 80k miles. Once it got replaced my car was running again and my transmission worked perfect fine.

Hi I have a VW t4 2.5 TDI.automatic the automatic ecu have no fault codes. The engine ecu has charge pressure control negative deviation p1556 code. Have changed the n75 valve, have changed the maff . Have checked intake pipes for leaks. Have replaced o ring on turbo intake . Garage has looked at it and checked too. All vacuum pipes seam to be ok. When I brought it it add an EGR delete. So I believe EGR is not the problem. Was told by garage to put a boost gauge on which I have done to check the psi . It is showing a psi between 6and 7 . The symptoms are when going up incline it goes into limp mode . If I switch the engine off and back on it drives fine for a while, then goes back into limp uphill or incline. When I installed the boost gauge,l accidentally did not attach the vacume pipe to the waistgate. The van drove exactly the Same ,limp mode on incline.turn off engine and drove ok until next incline. How can it drive ok without the vacuum pipe attached to the waistgate. I am wondering if this is the turbo itself. Or could it be the fuel pump that is.faulty Or fuel solenoid.. garage is going to fit a manual boost control . To override the n75. I don't think it will work because it drives the same without the vacuum pipes attached to the waistgate. Your advice would be very much appreciated thank you so much for your video.

My first limp mode without a CEL! And, usually my Saab will display Limp mode on the dash, but it didn't. Strange. After 2nd gear, the car runs normal, with normal power (6 speed manual), like the only other time I had this.. The last time I had ever had limp mode, it was a faulty throttle body. I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler JK, camshaft position sensor bank 1 error code is lighting up and I replaced the sensor with an OEM part, but still getting the error code and it's putting the engine into limp mode. Thinking about removing the TIPM and cleaning it, along with disconnecting the battery terminals and connecting them together to drain the power out, then doing a hard reset.

The limp mode in this dodge seems to throw the timing off so when we fix the problem how cut out limp mode ? Please help ,no compression in 4 cylinders

I have experienced limp mode multiple times in my is350 it’s very ridiculous that the engine light isn’t even on or anything but just a check system which I think is for the tire pressure sensor, my car might be misfiring a bit also replaced MAF flushed gas etc….

My 2015 F250 6.2 L gas engine truck went into limp mode because the dime sized rubber disc on my brake pedal fell off . The disc is the contact for the brake switch. With out that disc the brake lights will not go off . Which amounts to an unsafe operation. There was no codes . I glued it back in place and the truck ran great.

I jumped off my kia sorento with my 2004 7 series. A few days after, my BMW went into limp mode. No power, would only go into 1 gear. Didn't immediately understand that the issue was jumping off the suv, which I did about twice more, i stopped jumping the suv off, and continued driving the BMW in limp and in a day or two it corrected itself. Sometimes you don't need to overthink it🤷🏾‍♂️

@MechanicBase I drive a 2014 polo gti 1.4 DSG. It drives fine in manuel and sports mode. But in automatic mode it randomly goes into limp mode then I need to take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on then it would drive normally again. Or if it goes into limp mode then I just put the car in manual mode and it would drive fine. What could be the issue

I am having problems with my 2006 Nissan Murano, Code P2122, P2138 and P0643, Changed Pedal, Changed Trottle body and still car won't accelerate. Once TPS or Pedal changed car drives for a while like 1km and it goes to limp mode with Slip light and VDC displaying a check engine light, when I disconnect the pedal cable the car get high acceleration can drive . But it's slow. please any suggestions for possible solutions?

I have a 2010 camaro ss, it goes in limp mode only when I smash the pedal and I can still shift in all my gears but it runs ruff and stalls out sometimes, sometime u can start it while it like that sometime no, but I can get it back normal changing a small 50 cent fuse in the fuse box but it keeps coming back when the car does goes in Limp mode it said fuel pump control module took it to the mechanic 3 times he said it’s an electrical issue

Does Limp mode show up with diagnostics? My Ford S-Max diesel, when it goes weird, sounds like a cylinder is out of action, but it says "engine malfunction" and the ESP light comes on (skidding car icon). Is this a characteristic of limp mode? Or is it in limp mode because of a malfunctioning cylinder(injector/plug etc)? I did self-tests in FORscan, and it passed all tests, apart from there was an ABS error and a tyre pressure sensor was malfunctioning. This is a nightmare. There's also an injector code (a short I think), but says engine light is OFF for this error and "this DTC is not currently present". We had an injector replaced in the last couple of years. Also, the horn is not working, not sure if that matters.

Hey, I’m not really sure how to describe my situation, I think she limped but not entirely sure. The car drove fine till today. As I was stopping on a red light, on a mini highway, I had to pick up speed after the green. My car reached I wanna say 30km/hr she like went almost like she wanted to die. The car had no power and I had a huge rubber duck head, but the problem lasted not even a second, I couldn’t even see the lights that turned on fast enough, but im pretty sure the engine light and battery went on. The issue happened a few more times after then. It would drive fine after tho. Just very randomly it happens

Mines doing the same also on my challenger. I replaced the throttle body, did a relearn, I replaced the battery, nothing, I replaced the pedal accelerator sensor, relearn, nothing. I can't find the problem. No one apparently knows how to fix it on a challenger 😒

Finally found what caused my problem. I used seafoam to flush out or clean the injectors for extra precautions I ordered a oem pedal accelerator sensor. Hasn't done it since. It's been a week

My 05 neon keeps going into limp mode and the check engine light comes on but the code reader only throws a code for limp mode. So I don’t know what the underlying problem is. And it’s doing it more and more often

I got my o2 sensor changed and after 50 odd miles and then suddenly my car didn't want to accelerate properly or judders at certain throttle points. Don't know of this happens if they did not reset the ECU or if it's potentially my wiring is not happy.

I drive my dads toyota previa and its rev cuts off past 2400 rpm and i have to let go off the gas and press it again and maintain it below 2400rpm to drive , my dad replaced the throttle body and the issue remained , its very stressful to drive and i have no other choice.

I have a 2015 kia soul 2.0 engine and was going to change out my MAF sensor, but I don't know where it is. I called the dealer and the service department told me that it's located between the throttle body and the air filter, but there is no sign of a sensor of any kind between the 2 devices. While doing a search on another channel, I was told that it could also be somewhere on the intake manifold, but I'm not seeing it there either! Is it possible that there isn't one on this engine? When I looked up the part on Amazon, it lists the part as MAF0034. Please help, I'm at a loss at this point!

My Mercedes 2000 with w211 engine and 722.6 transmission have limp mode for 2 months I changed the conductor plate and oil but no response, so any advice?

I had the same problem after I changed conductor plate. I took it apart again and replaced all those solenoids in the shift body. Dealer said I had to get it recalibrated. But that's bulsh!t. Car works perfect now.

Have you tried stay hard spray?

The good ol days of a Chevy small block with a carb and no computer is gone in new vehicles. It was so simple and today is so complicated. Can’t take a shit without telling the computer. So much BS today.

Hi, my 2004 VW TDI 2.0 had a lower boost hose tear but was still running ok, despite making a loud swoosh noise coming out of it while accelerating. Angus, can you check what codes are stored? Also, you can try disconnecting the battery for 10-20 minutes - that might help😉

Even with going through every possable thing that could have put my car into limp mode and would get it running and driving great. It would always go back into limp mode no matter what I did. So here is the thing it would have had to go to a dealer to clear it in the ECM. By the time I figured that out I was done with the car and just scrapped it.

Right now, I'm in limp mode, and the OB2 sensor told me all my cylinders are misfiring. Ordered spark plugs and ignition coils. Hopefully it solves the matter

I have the feeling that it doesn't shift beyond 3rd gear, I count only 2 active shifts and then no shift again and my RPM remains high like that and keeps rising if I accelerate the more. Several local mechanics have assured me that the 4th gear (my last since it's 4 speed automatic) is silent in changing and that's why I don't see it changing by the reduction in RPM. So I have been wondering what could cause that high RPM with a bad fuel economy.

Hey, P Smooth. It's going to be hard to find out what's causing this without any codes. First, have you checked the OBD port (it's wiring and pins may be damaged) and its fuse?

I have same issue on my 2005 kia sorento. Limp mode will activate when I ran into something bumpy, and there' s a humming sound coming from front passenger side when limp mode activate. What would be the problem about that sir. Thanks

The Limp home mode almost killed me! In the middle of the night on the Russian step between Volgograd and Astrakhan my Chrysler Voyager went into limp. It was minus 30 celsius outside and the car wouldn't go faster then 30 kph in second gear. There are no mechanic shops, because there are nothing within 8 hours of driving in normal speed. No gas stations, no houses, no traffic at night. No phone coverage. With a car full of children and people the only option was to continue. After a 24 hour journey of getting passed by honking trucks we got to Astrakhan, but by then the transmission was shot. Back then you couldn't find anyone who could repair the car in Russia. The only option was to just leave it there, since transporting it 3000 km to west Europe cost to much. I am sure the car would have made it without problems without the limp home shit. Before starting the trip I had an oil and filter change on the transmission and the shop put the wrong oil in it. This caused a sensor to complain. The Japanese tranny didn't like Dextron 3. It's a common fault on Voyagers.

@@pjjoseph6015 It's a wast area of nothing really. Bone dry, except in spring when there is a lot of flowers. From the car you basically only cows and horses that are very skinny walking about. There are no fences and they do cross the road. Where there is wet lands around Volga river it's more lively. A lot of frogs, one for every step you take. The steppe though is flat, very windy and no treas or bushes. Oh and war memorials everywhere.

Mine doesn't slow down, but will not shift out of 2nd. Any ideas?

Can you tell us a bit more, Shane? Actually, a bad wheel speed sensor or a rusty reluctor ring may cause symptoms similar to safe mode - car occasionally lacking power.

@@MechanicBase hello, i have same issue, ford focus 2012, 1.6 diesel. I got esp lamp and check engine at the same time, my car is in limp mode now. I made a diagnostic, there are front left wheel sensor between the issues. Can it makes that i can not go over 2,000 rpm?

Could you please provide advice on how to hook up the scanner? I would like to know if I can acquire a scanner so that my car will at least tell me what's wrong. After weeks of not being able to use my car because it wouldn't go and waiting for the service center to fit it in for a diagnostic (they were quite busy since the scanner at their other center wasn't working and they were doing the work of two centers), and the car finally getting fit in and being in there overnight, the actual problem ended up being blown brake light globes and a faulty light switch, costing me only $8.00 to have fixed. I spent weeks stressing about how bad the damage would turn out being and having no car to drive.

Hey, which car do you have? Most newer cars are compatible with various code readers and scanners that you can buy quite cheap. For instance, you can get an OBD2 Bluetooth adapter that connects to your smartphone over an app (you can download it for free from Apple Store/Google Play), and they work very well for most of basic things.

You have a wiring issue, a short to ground or short to power, you need to get your wiring diagram and diagnostic steps from ALLDATAdiy.

your using your phone to check codes ? how are you doing this ? is it a app ?

Yes, there are many apps (i.e. Torque, or DashCommander) you can use for this. But you'll need an OBD2 bluetooth adapter, too.

my 2012 KIA was in an Official Kia service for 3 MONTHS. The total amount I end up paying was $2714! But the problem was fixed after they change the CONTROL ASSY-HEATHER which costs around $100. Yes, $100, instead of $2714. Maybe this information could be useful to someone. My car was going in LIMP MODE. Seems it was a very very rare case. Something that they had never seen before. They change many expensive parts (like the wiring harness and PCM control) and the car was not working. I had to pay for all those changes without solving anything. It has been almost 9 months since they fixed and the car is working great! Hopefully continues this way!

Could a defective brake switch cause limp mode and immobilise a car?

@@MechanicBase yes soo basically it’s only happened twice for like a minute after switching car of and on it was ok. But i think when i put the heater on and driving from when the car was cold it went into limp mode. Maybe sensor?

Mechanic Base my car (2017 Nissan 370z) only goes into limb mode(3500 RPM at most) at night around 6:30ish PM and last until 7-7:30 AM and then will drive completely fine during the daytime haven’t been able to figure out why scanned and replaced things with corresponding codes and haven’t found the fix

Hi, I stupidly accidentally let my 2012 chevy cruze run out of gas on April 3rd, 2023. Once I pulled to the shoulder it shut off. I then tried to restart it. When I did, the engine shuttered, vibrated roughly then I immediately shut it off. Then the reduced engine light has come on and is in reduced power mode after that. Despite trying the turning the key trick to try to reset it, it's still on. It's still on even after putting more gas in it. So now its driving power is reduced. Friends came to help me and put a little gas in the car. Before going anywhere he used his code scanner thing. He said no codes popped up on the screen. But the reduced light is on and its performance is now reduced. What on earth is going on and how screwed am I now?

Actually, most cars will get back out of limp mode after you shut it down and restart it.

My advice. If you do all the common simple things to fix it and you find nothing, get rid of the car. Sure you don't want to. The car, you have well taken care of it, but now you are screwed. If I lived in a state with no emissions test, no problem, I'd just put another engine in it. Like a small block Chevy and call it good. Guy in town has a SBC in a Volkswagen.

I have a 2008 honda civic fd1 the car goes into limp mode and the d light starts blinking. Whenever the car is in speed and i suddenly press the brake the car goes into the limp mode.. It giving the code p2122 and P0138

Both these codes are voltage related. And since it only happens when braking, we'd suggest checking the engine harness wiring first. It may be damaged somehow, which manifests itslef during sudden stopping.

Pls help. I was using my dad's Nissan car. I have a permit. I was doing a u-turn and suddenly I notice a change of speed, and my dad's car won't go past speed 40. I wasn't sure if it went into limp mode or not. Idk how to fix it, I'm too scared to mention it to my dad. While I was u-turning I couldn't fully turn. I have to back up the car and change gear again to fully turn out of the road. After that the car lost speed and won't get past 40. Is there any way I can do to get the car back to normal? I tried checking my dad's car, but there's no warning or anything.

@savanna it's not your fault, it's a Nissan, troubled vehicles, NOTORIOUS for having this problem. Nissan knows about it.

i got a 2018 homda accord 1.5 my mechanic changed the 4 spark plugs, 4 ignition coils, and air filter and still goin into limp mode what do i do?

For a start, you should have the codes scanned - these will help a lot in pinpointing the problem.

ford focus 12 not shifting after 3rd gear . but if i move to neutral and bring it to drive mode then t shifting upwards you know why?

My Automatic car changes gears very well from 0 to 100mph but it struggles going above 100mph while maximum speed is 180mph. What can be the cause there is no any check engine light.

Do you have access to a scan-tool (OBD reader)? You should first find out what error codes are stored in vehicles' memory.

Unfortunately, @DIYDCam, this is a transmission issue. Shift solenoids are in charge of changing gears in an automatic transmission, and their malfunction usually triggers limp mode. You could, however, try checking the transmission fluid level, or even renewing it, together with a filter.

My knock sensor is causing limp mode my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

My code is a bad Tcm on my 2010 Nissan Maxima. I replaced the transmission about a year ago , the car had 130,000 miles but car goes into limp mode every few months but not all the time. My question is has anyone else had this problem and if so how much money am I gonna be out of?

Yeah, mine be doing that, changed transmission and engine. New engine goes to limp mode 6months later, i changed oxygen sensor, mAF sensor, fuel pump & throttle body. Its now okay, feeling brand new.

I have an 04 Mercedes c240 and went into limp mode but didn't store any codes but won't go over 60mph????? I'm lost and need help! Please and thank you!

60mph seems very fast for limp mode - could just be reduced power for another reason and not limp mode.

my ml420 limits at 40??? a weak battery will do it. ???

So far I've... Replaced air filter, MAP sensor, topped off coolant. Nothing helped, No codes... still loses power after 60mph. I have an appointment with the mechanic tomorrow. Ill let you know what issue is.

Hi, I have a MK3 Mondeo with the limp mode problem.. started over a year ago, it was very rare but in time started to get worse.. the strange thing is, if starting from cold.. say after 9 or 10 hourse it will run without problems.. even over 100 miles of driving.. but as soon as I turn the engin off then start it it again comes on.. my work is 25 miles away and I get there and back home without any no problem but again if I stop on the way and start it again it appears.. when I finish work after 9 hours.. I start it and get home without any issues. Any ideas? one more thing if the engin gets warm and I keep it running after a drive of say 10 mile then stop while the enging is running for about 10 - 15 minutes it also goes to limp mode.

That might be some temp sensor acting up🤔 Have you checked what DTC codes are stored?

Same thing happening to me did you find the fix ?

At first it was code for throttle, wasn't throttle. Then ground wire fixed it. 5 mns later, it's acting up again and saying pedal but I think it's ground again. I'll let you know

@@MechanicBase winded up being a brand new bad pedal. It was spiking and throwing my transmission into shifting hard.

I don’t think people choose to keep driving with a check engine light on. I think they have to keep driving or they won’t make the money they need to get it fixed, because they currently don’t have money to get it fixed. 😂

You laugh but its a serious problem for people who struggle financially. The 3rd party warranty companies will rip people off also because they find any and all preexisting issues (pre-warranty) to void the warranty thus relieving themselves from responsibility but keep you past monthly payments. I had this exact issue with an 98 madza3 with 121k miles on it, once it spun the bearing(known issue with mazda3's) they then said that the vehicle had a rebuild title and that it being branded as such voided the warranty. Mind you they never checked the title or asked about the title when setting up the warranty. Once they told me they weren't honoring the warranty I made them refund all 17 monthly payments I made against the policy. Needless to say, they didn't like that and I'm permanently banned from their service(not that I'd ever use them again anyway LOL)😅😂

Just like to say I don't like your videos always informative and easy to understand, here is my question I purchased a C-Class w203 2004 1.8 compressor automatic, this car exceptionally good condition it only had 125 km on the clock, with service history, I do not say this lightly but it literally drove like a new car, it had no check engine light's a driving in like a cloud I suspect a bit of a douche move on my behalf maybe because of my I drove the aggressively 50m up my road and 50m back down my after I did this my check engine light and for a minute or so I was getting the impression that one of my spark plugs might have gone is it possible what I done could have caused unfortunate what I was considering down was disconnecting the battery to allow the computer to reset in the hopes that it might override the I was also going to check the air filter make sure no critters had gotten in there but as I say this car was so cherry that the engine bay was spotless, I do hope you can help me for that matter even anyone reading this if anyone can enlighten me in anyway to the fact of did my actions and how can I rectify it

I'm having this issue with my Audi A6 ultra 2 liter tdi. It's gone into limp mode. Says boost 'intermittent pressure sensor error' my mechanic deleted and said see if it comes back. Came back less than a week later. Says it could be dirty or blocked up. Any advice?

Hello Cillian. How many miles does you car have? Was the turbocharger ever replaced or rebuilt?

@@MechanicBase thanks for the reply. Turbo never replaced. Dpf and adblue removed and deleted. I think the pressure sensor was replaced also at the time. 102k miles. Belt and pump replaced. The Engine eventually started making a funny noise when pressing on the accelerator. While in limp mode and I went over 2,000rpm. When I restart the car the limp mode can be gone for a while also.

Those funny noises when pressing the throttle - that might be the turbocharger itself. If it's louder than it was before, it variable-geometry mechanics are not moving as they should.

@@MechanicBase thank you for your reply. It only occurred on one drive. Oddly. The car was off for a whole day, the next day all the warning lights were gone. It has been driving normally for 2 days with no issues. It's booked in for Monday to be seen. No idea what was going on.

@@MechanicBase just as a follow up. The pressure sensor was tested and giving false reading. So replaced it. A month later new faults again. It was an intermittent EGR issue. So deleted the EGR. Now the car was no dpf, adblu or EGR. I hope that's the end of it now. 👀

wheel speed censor will also cause this
