For over a decade Ed Calderon worked in the fields of counter-narcotics, organized crime investigation, and public safety in the northern border region of Mexico. During this period he also coordinated and worked executive protection details for high-level government officials and visiting dignitaries - often in some of the most dangerous parts of the country. Ed Calderon's study into the indigenous Méxican criminal culture, from occult practices to endemic modus operandi have lead him to be recognized as one of the world’s preeminent researchers and trainers in the field of personal security that has come out of Mexico. Ed has had the privilege of sharing his expertise with members of federal law enforcement agencies including the FBI and BORTAC, Navy SEALS, Indonesian Kopaska, Mexican and United States intelligence service agents, and members of special forces groups from all over the world. Currently, Ed travels North America doing security consulting and conducting seminars and private training courses in anti-abduction, escapology, unarmed combat, region-specific executive protection work, and unconventional-edged weapons work.

Santiago Meza Lopez, known as El Pozolero, or someone who makes pozole - a Mexican stew made with hominy, chicken, pork and vegetables - dissolved more than 650 bodies of rival cartel members in drums of acid. He worked for the cartels over a 10-year period until his capture in 2009. He was arrested by authorities in the coastal city of Ensenada, located about 70 miles south of the border. Meza was connected to the Arellano-Felix cartel that at one time controlled the flow of narcotics through Tijuana into the United States. He later aligned through his associates with the Sinaloa cartel.

I work in a wastewater treatment plant. We use caustic soda to dissolve the organic solids that build up in our tertiary filters and the smell is terrible after an overnight soak - i can only imagine what a boiled body would smell like. Also, caustic soda is a base, not an acid, and I test the Ph of the filter effluent to make sure it's under 9.5, so it doesn't put my plant out if compliance when I open the filter discharge gate.

"Caustic soda" otherwise known as lye, is actually a very strong base, not an acid. Bases work better for dissolving organic material because they break down lipids (fats) and proteins (skin, muscle) very efficiently. Everyone remembers the scene from 1999's "Fight Club" when Tyler Durden kisses the back of the lead character's hand and then dumps a white powder on it, lye, which begins to disintegrate the skin and cause a terrible chemical burn. Tyler then tells the main character to flush his hand with vinegar (an acid) to neutralize the lye rather than run his hand under the sink, which would have turned the powdered lye into a very hot liquid, as lye mixed with water causes an exothermic reaction, and further spread the chemical burn across his skin. EDIT: It is not advisable to use vinegar to try to neutralize a lye burn, you should instead use cool running water and wash the lye away as quickly as possible, leaving the burn in the stream of water for 10 minutes to make sure all the lye is gone.

This video caught my eye, unfortunately I can't forget about the incident that Happened to a pre med student from the university of Texas, MARK KILROY. He was kidnapped while in Mexico on spring break by some drug dealers, kilroy was murdered and his body was placed in a vat of acid to dissolve, I believe only his spine remained when authorities made thier gruesome discovery. I don't recall how the authorities identified the remains as having been that of Kilroy. He was thier human sacrifice, to whomever . The drug dealers believed that they would be given protection from law enforcement and rival drug dealers. Mark Kilroy 's case was truly sad, horrific and revolting, apparently his case was not an isolated incident..
The depravity of man never ceases to amaze me. I find solace in the fact that one day, all will be made right by the judge who knows all. I do appreciate the men and women who work hard to find justice for these families in the meantime. Wish Mexico could rid itself of the cancer of the cartels.

I lived in Rosarito (south of Tijuana) from 93-09. 2008-2009 where some of the craziest times down there, the violence was extraordinary. A classmate was held for ransom 1 month ($500,000 paid by his parents) he lived, the security guard who tried protecting him was beheaded. My mothers boss was abducted and beheaded. Saw shot up bodies many times, bodies hanging from bridges.. May all those innocent souls Rest In Peace
