Can benzo withdrawal cause mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS)?

I am convinced that I developed mast cell activation syndrome during my withdrawal from benzodiazepines. I cannot be sure, though, as I also had COVID during my benzo withdrawal. I would like to hear from other people who are dealing with MCAS or symptoms related to histamine intolerance during or after benzo withdrawal.

I think it's a combination of covid, stress and benzos for you. For me was enough just covid and stress. (And maybe a touch of nicotine withdrawal) 😊 I NEVER had any food allergies both before that...

Yeah this is the other thing. Everyone is different. It is very possible as you said that it is a combination. I think there are lots of people who developed mast cell issues with covid alone, so throw stress into the mix and nicotine withdrawal... I see your point

@@windowsNwaves absolutely you replied haha I kinda got confused there The list of foods, very helpful ! Skin sensitivity for me is so severe stinging itching biting. Along with that is a stuffed up nose, coughing is all linked somehow. Every hair follicle on my head is itchy. Who knows it’s all so insane. But eating the right foods I’ll be extra cautious of what I eat. Yes also stressful stuff. Take care and God Bless!

@@brendamalone3880 Hey Brenda I strongly strongly strongly recommend trying an elimination diet, even if only for a week. It's not easy but you may find that some of the foods you are eating could be holding back or even preventing your healing. My MCAS has gotten better over time and I can now eat more things than I could in the beginning, but I don't know where I would be now if I didn't get clued into it. The congestion and itchiness are prime histamine intolerance or MCAS candidates. The neurological symptoms are the snake in the grass that you would never associate with diet or histamine -- in short, we don't think of these things as being able to affect our brain chemistry. But it seems they are actually all connected. This is a good read: www.happywithouthistamine.com/anxiety-and-histamine/

They did get better over time, yes. I am going to make another video about it. I attribute a lot of improvement to supplements I took as well. Have you changed your diet at all or have you tried to take any supplements? Quercetin, DAO, camu camu, etc. ?

@@anthonydiaz8288 yes, I got you, but not talking medication. I am talking about vitamins and supplements. For example, quercetin is a plant based flavonol. It has made a huge difference for me. Lots of studies on it as well: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3314669/ for example. I also take curcumin, camu camu (basically a very bio-available form of vitamin C), vitamin e. All of these made a huge difference for me.

I see... and is DAO (diamine oxidase) possible for you to take? Enzyme that we have naturally to break down histamine.
