There was no other group that was as versatile as Cameo. They had that true soul, Urban Contemporary, R&B, Jazz, Funk, and some of the best love Ballard's ever created. On this track they show us how Socially Conscious Conscious they are. They are forever number 1 in my book

+Ty Hunter agreed, Cameo was the only legitimate threat to The Almighty Parliament Funkadelic, but the one thing they had on P-funk was the slow jams.

Ty Hunter hey! I would have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. I was born at the end of the 80's, so my view may not be as relevant as yours! I think EWF had some pretty powerful music and was ahead of their time back in the day. Honestly think they are still relevant now with all the chaos happening in the world now. I actually just "discovered" Cameo not long ago. When I was in college we used to play Neck all the time. I thought a rap group sang it. Then I took it upon myself to dig deeper and go on a hunt for the original artist. Low and behold, i found out it was Cameo! I was shocked and happy all at once. I was like "there's no way a rapper sang this! I like it too much." Lol I'm digressing now. Lol my parents listened to this type of music when I was a kid, so naturally I picked up their taste in music! I like Cameo, but I still think EWF is one of the greatest funk band of all time. What would really be awesome is if the two band did a collaboration! Lol

Ty Hunter I agree. The only other funk band that can come close to Cameo is Parliament and the slow jams put them over. But they were just as funky as Pfunk, especially when they were at their full complement at the beginning. Very Unsung.

Yes we as people of color always expressing our comments... When we should be lifting our people up... Even if it cost us more than we have... All these people in the entertainment... Sport business... Should be giving back to the community to bring our people up... Nobody else is going to do it... But naw they don't want to come out their pockets... You fell to realise what Martin Luther King was marching for and died for... It was for us brown, black, and tan peoples because we had no civil rights in America when it came to justice... The Man was the sacrificial being in order for the systematic system for change and look at our situation now... It's bout me and mine... He was showing us that we should come together no matter what... Cause racism and Prejudice ain't gonna end... We got to bring us up as people of color no matter what it cost... Look around and be awere of the shit that's going on... Our ancestors have paid the price in the past...

This was a great album released in 1988 I lost track of Cameo at this time but I was a big fan of the band when I was in high school back in the early 80s going to a few of there shows when they came to Charlotte N.C.....i know it was hard for soul bands to transition from the 70s funk to the 90s MUSIC industry....this is a song that makes you THINK....and that is always a good thing

I missed those days when about every uptempo song had a breakdown featuring the bass, followed up by drums and finished off by horns. Classic!

You believe it's just in the U.S. ... ? I personally live in Europe, and in a country like France, it seems that people now are even more racist towards minorities than ever before (even the latest generations), though the situation can never be compared with a wide nation like the U.S.. There are no changes in reality, it's just an illusion ! I truly believe now that white folks are all the same : they have racism and hatred deeply rooted in them; wherever they are ! (but anyways, where did the white folks in the U.S./America originate from ? Well : from Europe !)
