True story. 7th grade, I'm on the school bus heading to class. Our bus driver was hip and kept the radio tuned to 92.5. They played all the jams! I distinctly remember "Candy" coming on and everyone would go nuts!

Cameo is world renowned for Candy and LB’s infamous red cup BUT the catalog is grossly underrated and this group deserves to be in the Rock n Roll HoF if they are not already

Had they stuck to this, perhaps the crap hip hop, and gangsta garbage we see today, ruining the youth, could have been avoided. I don’t EVER remember any problems with playing Stevie Wonder, or Tina Turner, or what about MJ? You couldn’t turn on music channels without Jackson everywhere. Just because certain music, that used to be offensive in society was panned, does not mean it was racial. Motley Crüe was never allowed at first. And heavy metal? They were lucky to get a half hour show at midnight, on Sunday’s, and that was filled with useless talking….no real music.

I've always felt like Larry Blackmon didn't get enough credit for what he did for music. I feel the same about full force. All these guys are so underrated and under appreciated

Night clubs where the meeting spot for all the adults then, Small cover charge with after work happy hours that featured 2 dollar drinks and soul food buffets. Hang out after work for a few hours go home and shower call your boys up and ask "Where the happenings at tonight?" The Cameo album "Word up!" Was always something that kept the dance floor packed. Your correct it was a great time to be young and in the clubs.

The second coming of Cameo started with 'Word Up' and all that followed was smash mf hits! The transformation of their music was incredible .. .and no one has ever did that as successfully as Cameo. Fans are not always kind to change. I'm trying to stay away from the words "reinvent themselves" , bcuz it is more of an evolution of a band than it is a reinvention of one.
