Real talk man. Think about it. This was 1985 the narrative style and storyboard effect creativity and quality of the video of both this and the sequel Single Life was way ahead of its time and of the pack and let's not forget where this all started from She's Strange which was creatively iconic both visually and sonically..

I remember when they played this on Casey Kasem's America's Top Ten where he did a profile called "Soul Meets The Soaps". Debbie Morgan is such a groundbreaker in US Soaps, she tore the door down for so many African American Women on Soaps from One Life To Live, Guiding Light and of course The Young & The Restless. In future Years, Shemar Moore, would play Toni Braxton's Boyfriend in her Video and Lisa Brown (As The World Turns, Guiding Light, Loving/The City), was in Aretha Franklin's Video for Everyday People. I told UK Soap Fans about their link and they were impressed. In The UK The Two Longest Running Black Actors are Rudolph Walker who on September 13 2001 debuted as Patrick Trueman on EastEnders who in 2018 became the first Afro Caribbean Actor to win an Honorary Award. Denise Fox who has been playing Diane Parish on EastEnders on and off beginning in 2006 in her own way kicked the door open for Actresses on other UK Soaps like Hollyoaks and even Coronation Street where in 2019 they finally had their first Black Family.

Cameo had good quality videos! I missed those days of good music and good videos!

Killer jam! One of the most underrated and oft-forgotten R&B groups ever..They don't have a bad song.."Sparkle", "Candy", "Back & Forth", "Single Life" and more! These guys were from NYC I believe but also did a lot of their work in Atlanta which I think shows in their sound. Most of you probably already know Zapp & Roger, but if you're newly discovering Cameo, check out some Zapp & Roger--you'll like them, too!

I don't know about the rest of the group, but Larry Blackmon was from Harlem and now lives in Atlanta. I met the Troutman brother's and one of their son's along with Shirley Murdock back in the mid 80's in Anacostia Park in D.C. The Troutman brothers offered me and my friend Dee Dee if we wanted to come and hang out with them at the after party, I respectfully declined because I didn't like the way they were looking at me LOL. They wanted us to hop in the camper. My friend wanted to hang out with them, but I couldn't drive her car back home because it was a stick. It's so sad what happened to the brother's they were a legend. All over drugs.

There were some stars in this video, Savion Glover, Debbie Morgan, Laurence Fishburn, that man that sexually harassed Whitley on A Different World and Maurice Hines. He just died, R.I.P.. That dance those 3 band members do at the beginning of the video always used to trip me out. Classic Cameo.
