R.I.P Roger Troutman. He left us with an entire rose gallery of classics to enjoy for the ages, including this one right here. Just a 22 year old man listening to some real music.

The Midwest is Responsible for the creation of funk 100%, The West Coast took the flavor frfr.

This guy played so many instruments, like Patrice Rushen. I think he was a genius because his ideas were so far ahead of their time. Back then people were truly multi-talented...and intelligent and well spoken. In addition to those qualities, Roger was very witty. This album was one of the most memorable of the latter half of 1983. I left the country for about a month and when I returned in late August, I first heard this song as I was entering my home on an old early 60s hi-fi wall radio. I can still remember that as if it was yesterday. I was still listening to Dancefloor since it had been released, but this was like one step above that song. Then I heard Heartbreaker and other songs on this album. It was like eating one of the tastiest desserts you've ever had in your life. This is part of some of the greatest times in my life.

That's why i love Roger, you see. He is both classic and elegant, but he has the power of making everyone dance and throw down. I love his tuxedo with diamonds on, how Zapp is so tight but so loose at the same time

I feel so fortunate to have seen Roger with Zapp in the early 80's. He opened for Midnight Starr and The Gap Band about 1984. He entered the arena from the back, being carried on a chair lit up with lights and he wore a cape and a crown as well. A great entertainer and showman. Everyone loved him!! Come to think of it, when I recently saw Charlie Wilson, he wore a hat and jacket full of lights while he sang tribute songs of Roger.'s. Very nostalgic to say the least. ♥🥲 ♥

Man I am so happy that I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Every year Zapp/Roger gave us a hit or two for the summer. Real music right here.

I was at Zapp park today. The building in the video was the troutman recording studio but it was torn down in 2004. Now Zapp park is there with a wonderful tribute to him. Tradgic end but the music sounds and samples live on everwhere. The list of hip hop artists that sampled or were influenced by his sound is endless. Truly one of a kind. Gone too soon.

T Pain brought me here. I saw "This is Pop" on Netflix and I cried watching this. I didn't even know there WAS a video for it!

Damn thats crazy seeing actual footage of the Troutman Sound Labs building, It's gone now and its a memorial park for Roger there now, And a barbershop! Dayton, Ohio Funk Capital!

I'm there now!!! Wondered if that was Dayton!! Parts of it look like Beirut!! It's a damn shame and 5 minutes away are the mansions of Oakwood!!

I was like 12 yrs old back in 83 when I heard zapp and rodger coming out of my older brothers lowrider.all his music takes me back to 80s summer in L.A.

My beloved granny's FAVORITE song.....

I was fortunate enough to see them perform in the early 80's in Oklahoma. It was a fantastic concert! The crowd went crazy! I was in my early twenties and it was incredible! I love them. RIP Roger. God bless you always. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Back in 1991 my brother went away for a little while and I took possession of his stuff for safekeeping, including a Zapp and Roger greatest hits tape. By the time he came back I must have scotch taped that tape back together at least ten times from playing it so much. Roger passed on my 15th birthday! Truly unsung. RIP and thanks for all the music.

I got to see Zapp/Roger in concert. He was so damn multi talented. Vocals, keys, guitar, harmonica, swag.

That was such a sad story about to brilliant Brothers but all in all their music still lives on everyone plays their music at their parties thank you Zapped and Rogers for leaving such beautiful music with us God bless y'all Souls

The bass player saying “I can make you dance” makes me so happy to have this record as a child in the ‘90’s.

Went to my first concert at the Roxy in Los Angeles to see Zapp (late 80’s). The band was on stage doing their thing. While all eyes were on the stage, Roger comes out walking across the tables (mine included) making quite an entrance. Damn! They put in a show.., but Roger was a true showman for real!!! R.I.P. Roger

Still bumpin on the east coast In 2020. New Jersey got mad love for Roger. R.I.P. my bro.

They gave a lot back to the Dayton community also. They bought houses and rented them out to people at discount to help them out. This studio is no longer there- but there is a little park honoring Roger.

This was the JAM of 1982 and still is today in 2019! It still makes me DANCE!

Zapps music brings tears to my eyes every time i hear it. It just brings back so many wonderful memories, of being a teenager jamming to it at the skate rink and school dances. i never miss them when they come to Atlanta.
