The roof design and build is absolutely brilliant! A benchmark day when the cables are no longer needed and are taken down. It's a very exciting time in the build!

I find myself in awe of your carpentry talent, attention to detail, and of course, your self-reliance. In addition, your video work is outstanding. Your shot angles, your scenic shots, your use of a drone, and the use of video to tell an interesting and compelling story are incredible. I have noticed over the years your technique has steadily improved. I am wondering if you have ever described the technical aspects of your video production, including what equipment you are using for special shots, your editing software, techniques, etc. That would be fascinating to me and probably to others.

I really hope you keep this channel going Shawn. It is literally better than National Geographic by a large stretch. At this point, I think really, it's become a public service. Especially for people like me with injuries, that I may never be able to see how gorgeous Canada is again. Was there when I was younger. I think it's gotten even more beautiful! I agree I love watching him build this cabin. He amazes me with all he does and when he uses the old tools. I love the scenery and just watching Cali. And now I enjoy watching his daughter. And the father daughter stuff. Never had that with my dad. It was good while I was younger but he didn’t know how to communicate with me as a teen and then an adult. ❤️❤️

Mr. James, I have been watching this channel almost since the inception and then your other channel. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy both channels, each in its own way. I have loved every minute of both channels. But, this channel brings me so much joy and peace. I am amazed at all you have accomplished. I love the sound track! Wild birds calling, wind in the trees, rolling thunder, sound of a hammer reverberating in the woods, stream water gurgling over the rocks, vegetables and bear meat sizzling in a frying pan….. and terrific progress on the cabin!

Through rain, snow , hail this man doesn't stop on any type of weather he is our guy.

That's a lot of hard work for just 1 man. I'm always impressed with your woodsmanship and knowledge of building and building it to perfection. Love the video including the steam and water falls. You live in a beautiful area.

Nothing wrong with standing on a master's shoulders. There is an episode when Shawn goes to AK and stays there at the Dick Pronecke cabin.

Love this guy, he's a master at this.

Although my dad was a musician and an industrial arts teacher, he was a carpenter at heart. I loved watching him work as a child. You remind me of him.

Duuuude...! Been with you since the first cabins.... and this... from plot, to log layout, to hole in the ground, to sandy pit, to freaking house with a roof nearly on it!! Man this is just incredible to watch - that one man has done all of this, (with the halps from da dog) is still utterly mindblowing. I admire, respect and salute you. Can't wait to see you sitting down to your first cup of chaga in front of the stove by the firelight!

While I’m not a carpenter, as a former architect, building designer and the son of a contractor I have driven a few nails and been on a few ladders. Which makes watching you build the cabin alone even more festinating. Clearly I marvel in your ingenuity, ideas and methods of working alone while saying to the computer screen, ”Shawn start a nail before you drag up the 2X12." But that is only because I would like to help….from the security of my den, LOL! Thanks for sharing the video's, it’s great to watch your progress.

Funny . I started watching this in my sons back yard ..sand hill cranes were under a nearby mulberry tree doing what they do best.....the ones on the video sounded off and they responded calling back....lol

You are the best therapy to my 63 years old. After the passing of my mother 1.6 years ago I received one double flat house that in 2027 gonna make 100 years ! I found a lot of troubles in all parts of the house. Sometimes I thought it really means, I am oldguy and now carryng my Dad ! I started watch you posts 2 years ago. I praied to God to give power to contining the recuperation of this family home. The Lord gave me determination my wife gave me support and you a lot of ideas ! God keep you healthy and safe !

What you do is an true art, I'm afraid the next generation has little to no survival skills, I've learned so much from your channel, I'm 60 years old and in fair health, wish I could have learned this years ago!

I was observing your mindfulness in carefully moving about at heights. It occurred to me that you always appear to be mindful and present in your actions, whatever the task, although you obviously reflect on many things as you work. Your actions are measured and, well, skillful. An old saying came to mind, "A master reveals themselves with every moment". That about summarizes you. That's what inspires.

Mastery of the hand tools alone is an awesome achievement! When you can control them to within tolerances unattainable with power tools, the sense of pride in the outcome is immeasurable ! You take me back to better, younger years ! Hunting, fishing, just being outdoors ! I worked outdoors my entire life, every day ! Unfortunately my health has taken a turn for the worse ! I'm retired on disability ! The pain of not being able to do, is worse than the pain I live with every day. I'll pray for you, that your health remains in good standing ! Be careful lifting, one bad ordeal can change everything ! I'm a Marine ! I have memories of training for survival in Cold Weather and Mountains, Jungle and Desert. Your videos bring back so many memories of my past. I look forward to seeing your future adventures ! Stay safe, enjoy your time, I'll pray for you !
