Finishing the wood ceiling in my cabin and Butchering a Deer
I finish installing the charred wood ceiling in my off grid log cabin after harvesting a deer, canning it and cutting it into steaks with my wife's help.

Love love canned deer. When I was raising my sons and I was down from brain surgery my sons was jr high age n down they take a pint of canned deer meat and make a meal with it. People gave us deer. I was blessed with 7 some years grounded some and canned most. I put canned grounded deer in the crockpot and make a meal. They would make pulled deer sandwiches.

A very thoughtful video Shawn. You’re demonstrating how indigenous peoples and settlers lived off of the land for a very long time. That’s life.
@TheBelrick
Жыл бұрын
No lol. They were like locusts. They had to be. Semi nomadic because eventually they would strip a land empty of natural food sources. Building zero infrastructure. Then they would leave usually with a population boom because they had no population control. The migration would ultimately bring them into contact with other tribes resulting in short violent warfare that inevitably involved straight out murder of children. Cannibalism. (waste not) , slavery and rape. This is why every male born was born to be a warrior and every female born to breed warriors. And they lived this way for millennia. DO NOT ROMANTIZE THE AWFUL WAY OF LIFE OF SAVAGES.

I am omnivorous and a good venison steak, seasoned, dredged in flour and pan fried in butter is just heaven on a bun! This reminds me of the time my life partner and I encountered a dying deer on a Scottish highland road and took it home to process. As a kid growing up I didn't care much for meat which was odd coming from a meat loving family. Loved my veggies, beans and soups. As a much older adult (62), the passed few years I have incorporated more meat into my diet. I love to cook and experiment to jazz it up a bit.
