The hardest part of watching this channel is trying not to feel jealousy. Truly a beautiful thing you have going on.

I was fortunate to find your channel early on, when you started with the first cabin, when you began to add rooms onto it I thought you might be dreaming about how you might do it again if you ever got the chance, - knowing all the things you learnt building it , then a development forced you to do exactly that - move and begin again - and now, after a huge effort you have a true home to live and grow, family included if needs-be, it`s a testament to the person you are Shawn, I admire you and what you have created, I look forward to new episodes as I`m unable to get out as often as I`d like to..

Love how you apologize to Callie for her having to move. She let you know she wanted her toy back, still acts like a pup, love your relationship. Your cabin is now awesome

@Lip Ripper I’m pretty sure that Cali is a very happy and contented dog, she is well loved. She loves the outdoors and she does not need climate controlled when she wears a fur coat. Cali is more than a pet, she is part of Shawn’s family. If you don’t like the content and make comments like this, why do you watch?

From what I can gather in watching Cali & other video dogs; they comprehend their 'dad'/'mom' is always speaking to someone other than them and that someone is inside that contraption dad Shawn is always talking to. Also, if the dog gets close enough they can see the image of moving people or a dog IN that little thing. So, my guess is they think it's real people in the camera. Get really science-fiction-y & it's like they are looking into a portal. It explains the uncanny way Cali looks directly into the camera for confirmation or assistance. It's pretty amazing watching how Cali, girl in the woods & bushradical's Maisy and other youtuber's babies respond to the camera similarly. It's a whole new aspect of communication brought about as a result of the vlogging world. I really hope an expert on behavior eventually does a deep dive, as this is really quite fascinating. I get such immense pleasure & relaxation out of Shawn's endless builds. The compound is pretty awesome.

What a hoot - Cali lying down close to you as you nail another board, and you have to work around her, because she is not moving! What a terrific little actress Cali is - such an engaging personality. Love her to bits!

I was just thinking, how free and creative we can be without nosy, interfering neighbours. I am putting up with sensor lights shining over my fence every time I walk outside, or having my gardening work noted and approved or disapproved . Pity. No choice but to move to a better place.😊

Where I am there's so much light pollution I can barely see the moon. 😿

It's always fun to think about which part of your videos are my favorite...but it's SO hard to do! Books are my favorite "possession," because they bring so much joy so that huge bookcase is everything. As a city girl, longing for the country living of my childhood, my very favorite tonight was seeing all of the beautiful stars in the sky. I'm lucky to see the moon and three or four of the very brightest planets. Shawn, if you made a 45 minute video of the night sky with audio of a woodburning fire, I would watch it on repeat to relax. The view about the trees was stunning. Thank you! And Cali❤️

Aquí en España el verano pasado llegamos a 56° centigrados eso era el infierno. El día más fresco eran 40°. Fue terrible.

I live in a log cabin in Wisconsin. I have my over size leather chair directly in front of my Soap Stone wood stove. Nothing more relaxing than to set and watch the fire burn when it below zero or in the middle of a big snow storm and having a nice hot cup of coffee with my Newfoundland dog curled up near by!. Your set up in front of your stove is awesome. I know you and your best friend will spend many memorable hours enjoying the warmth and companionship!!! A great job of making your cabin so homey!!!!

I watched you close the door on your previous cabin and was sad. I was also eager to see what you would accomplish in your new cabin. This beautiful build is much better suited to your needs. You are an artist with many skills.

Cali is so smart, such a trip! The shoe was classic, lol When are you getting her a mini me? Should now, that way she can help train up the new one. It's amazing how in tune our animals get with us when it's one on one. I am a loner by choice, but I've had this crazy cat for almost 20 years now. He's now toothless, getting old. Not sure who has trained whom, but I now know exactly when he's whining for his food, fresh water, (not that stuff that's been sitting, Mom. Cold stuff fresh out of the faucet) and Heaven forbid I get yelled at for not cleaning the litter box. I used to own shepherds, just too old to keep up with a dog anymore. Cudos for raising Cali to be such an amazing dog!

That was quite entertaining Shawn, the bookshelf looks great, it breaks up the room and I'll bet it keeps the heat in that area better than having to heat the entire room. IT HAS been amazing watching you over the past few years, especially this cabin, from the day you laid it out to this video here, where you begin to make it your own.... always great content, and if I may look into the Foxfire Book, it's actually a series of book written about mountain folklore and how to do things, I think you would find it interesting. I worked on book 4 and 5 .. done by high school students interviewing old folks in the mountains of north georgia, and this area.... check it out.... great video here!

Wow! What a great contribution to society you made! My dad got into Foxfire books…a city boy trying to find some peace from his technical job on five acres back in the seventies. He got away from it, after slicing his leg with an ax, and destroying his ankle getting knocked from a ladder while using a chainsaw to incorrectly trim a huge branch. (I mention this as a lesson for others! ALWAYS remove the weight and length of a branch by working from the tip toward the trunk…something I had told my father and he ignored. The branch swung and hit him…he threw the chainsaw away, but his foot caught in the ladder and twisted to pointing the wrong direction. The broken bones healed badly and caused pain for the remainder of his life.) He eventually found his own happiness in teaching computer use to people who needed help with them.
