Dear Lucy, I grew up in Australia in the 1950s and all the words you talk about here were commonly used, mainly by children. They were not well approved and we would often be corrected when in adult company. I first went to England in 1974 and lived there quite a bit until 1980. During that time I never heard English people use any of those words, nor did they address each other as "mate" or refer to anyone as "a mate of mine". Many people would refer to their friends in general as their mates. On returning to England a few years ago I noticed people, especially in London, using Australian expressions such as "no worries" and calling each other mate. I was fascinated to see in your video that the English have now adopted our "bad english".
