Having learnt the language from African teachers, I find it so refreshing to watch your lessons. You have such a pleasant personality. I am a teacher of Mathematics and Physics from Kenya, East Africa.
A lot of people prefer " got you" however, I saw a lot of native speakers say " I understand" Frankly speaking, there is no right or wrong, it absolutely depends on the person's style, or habit. Different people have different expressions.

LUCY YOU ARE THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER ON KZread....
You’re contributing me a lot in terms of realizing subtle differences amongst similar phrases. Many thanks and hope you keep uploading videos like this.
I appreciate your effort of making this awesome video over avoiding use of "I understand or I know" in formal communication especially with boss or senior.
Brilliant tutorial. Many thanks. Some people still in doubt.... I very much appreciated your way of teaching Lucy. As you have shown formal English informal English and slangs.( Slangs with friends). Those expressions are a very useful to know people's backgrounds where do they come from. And people's attude towards to you too.👍👍👍👍
“ I appreciate “, can also be used to show gratitude, I.e., “ I appreciate it !”, can be used in place of “ thanks “.

it was in her video "stop saying thank you"
When you explained your reason for saying I know by stating the reason for the video is help us expand our vocabulary, I also had an ah ah moment like ‘ha I get it’
The advice to listen-while-we-read works for me. When I pick up something difficult like Shakespeare, after years away from it. It helps me create the scene, in my mind. as well as help me with some of The Bard's obscure wording.
Thanks for enriching our vocab by adding so many alternatives for "I know". Original sample sentences as well!! :)
One of the best videos I've seen on this subject. Thank you!
Lucy, thank you for your videos. English is my first language and I still find your content extremely helpful
Found your videos only today. Glad I did! Congratulations. Excellent videos, been watching for the past 2 hours. English is not my native language and your way of explaining things is very good.
Thank you , having good conversation with modest phrases will help in diplomacy when somebody is aggressive.....I learned a lot from this video.....To handle a conversation smoothly.....Thank you

If I hear someone say "I realize that" or "I'm aware of that" instead of just saying "I know", my first thought as a native English speaker is to think they are upset with me for something I did or said. I hope your students don't encounter that problem.

I'm not English. And the equivalence in my language "of aware of" or "I realize" would have the same "upset" to me even more, I'd expect a curious excuse from whom is saying aware/realize. Literaly translate into English would be "badly paid people excuses". Maybe you can make up these kind of excuses and tell me the equivalence in English. Thanks a lot.

I am with Lucy that Audible is really an amazing platform. but I want to recommend a way that I follow similar to it if you can't use the platform for any reason . first I download any book or short stories from the store ,after that I copy what I have to read and translate it on google ,I listen to the story with any accent I want and finally I try to imitate pronouncing the new words and that's it . since I did that, my English has apparently been way better 💜
Thanks Lucy!! This video is very helpful❤️❤️
For some reason in America “ whilst “ is replaced with the word “ while “. Whilst is rarely ever used in American English. The same with “ surname “ is replaced with the two words “ last name “.
Ms. Earl you said that you think that we students need to have a bank of alternatives for words, and with you .. that "bank" is certainly gonna "break".😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅 Because you are of a great help to us all. Regarding the usage of “like”, it would be nice to hear a lot of people be more authentic. I was like...so she was like...and then we were all totally like.... The usage of “Perfect” is another. Is it working a little better now? Yes, it is working a little better than it was. Perfect! Is the food hotter now? Yes. Perfect!
1. I am aware of. 2. I realise. 3. I recognize. 4. I appreciate. 5. I acknowledge. 5. I notice. 6. I see. 7. I see what you mean. 8. I see / take your point. 9. I do not blame you. 10. I get what you mean. 11. I am certain that. 12. I am sure that. This note is for my own, please do not steal it.
Thank you. I understand, how good to know all this words and phrases)))

Loved your video. Really funny. Now I am aware of the fact that next time I'm being kept waiting at a job interview it could likely be due to a potential boss finishing their solitaire game first hehe. Yay! I did learn, see, I didn't say now I know..haha. By the way, I'm curious about your topic selection for your examples. It's all about HR and typical work related situations. The one about a salary review was a good one. I made a note of it so that I rephrase it differently next time I entertain the idea of bringing it up to my boss. You would make a terrific boss or a nasty one!? And loved your beautiful accent.
There's nothing wrong with saying 'I know' or 'I understand ' Lucy. As a native English speaker, I use most of your alternative suggestions, but in some circumstances they can appear overly formal, or even make some people feel you're talking down to them.
Haha, Lucy's examples are really hilarious, always imply disagreement, but so true😂
This is fantastic and helpful to enrich our vocabularies 😍❤😍
