    I found one of these Breville HotCup VKT124 packed away in my house only a few days ago and I have *Absolutely ZERO Recollection* of actually buying it. I know it must have been there for at least '3 YEARS'. I set it up in my kitchen yesterday and it is an Excellent kitchen device. VERY FAST. I would say : *_"I wish I would have bought one years ago"_* but I clearly did and totally forgot about it... 🙄

    Good question and apart from holding it upside down after the last boil dont think there is an alternative. To be honest we have never cleaned ours out. It's used daily by two people and refilled about 2-3 times so not much builds up.

    Does the new one's button work when it's off? My idea is to have a timer/smart plug attached to the socket, so I can put a mug under it, press the button and in the morning it will automatically get powered by the plug and make me a cup of tea. I can see with the rocker switch on the old one that would work, but I'm unsure with the new one. Any help would be appreciated :)

  • @fiveminuteman

    You dont end up with stale water, minimum would be just over a cup, water is as hot as a kettle. If you have more than 2 people using it you have to keep filling it up. Single person ideal.

  • @fiveminuteman

    @fiveminuteman

    Yep boiling water will spray out. A larger cup will underfill, but you can then press the boil button again and when filled to the correct level hit the cancel button. That prevents overfill.👍

    If i have my family over, and 4 adults have a drink, is this still quicker than boiling a full kettle? Is this better than a kettle in your opinion? Great vid too, very helpful 👍

  • @fiveminuteman

    @fiveminuteman

    4 жыл бұрын

    Good question. If you had 4 people over it will handle it fine and to be honest it would be fractionally quicker than a kettle unless you measure 4 cups of water and boil only that in the kettle. The unit is much better than a kettle for ease of use. Elderly like it as they dont have to lift a heavy kettle full of boiling water. The only downside is that you have a water reservoir that needs constant filling. Similar problem to an american fridge freezer without thats not plumbed in with a water supply. Having said that we would never go back to a kettle.

    Thanks for your response! I got confused because it look like the whole kettle is boiling rapidly and kind of violently (high wattage?) I saw another Chinese brand dispenser that boils only what it dispenses without this 'kettle' sound so that's why I thought Breville must be boiling the whole lot.
