Really like the depth of wood color shade on those grips which complements the bright of the aluminum grip frame and that in turn contrasts the dark cylinder and barrel. Those smooth grips make me think of my Blackhawk Bisley with Rosewood grips, smooth, not slippery so still nice solid grip. Good thing you have that Ruger, it will keep any rascals from robbing that train on your yard….lol.Thanks, sir

Watched this vid again. I have a blue Blackhawk 41 mag 6" that has the internal lock and the spring strut has broken. Only way to fix it is to replace the grip frame. Thought about a Bisley frame and hammer but after seeing what you did im gunna go the same route with aluminum frame. Gunna round the butt edges and leave it in the white. That looks pretty doggone good to me. I opted to fit my Blackhawk with the Super Blackhawk stainless steel Hunter grip frame. It’s a 5 1/2 inch new model Blackhawk in 45 Colt. The silver/blue color combo look great together. The blue and polished silver give these sixguns a unique custom look. I decided to go with the stainless because of the weight. I’ve always preferred a heavier piece. I did the grip panels with elkhorn.
Really love the Blackhawk 45 colt. Wish I could show you the Bisley that I have. It’s my prize six gun. Keep up the great work.

I like your work. I have a flat top unconverted 3 screw Ruger 44. That gun is really nice. If you decide to customize another revolver check out the 3 screws. Maybe one that has already been modified. I bought mine to have it customized it as the pics on GB made it look rusted. Once I picked it up from my ffl there was no rust, just dirty fingerprints. I really like it!!! I might do it to my Blackhawk .45. I bought a new Blackhawk.357 mag In stainless with the 4 5/8 barrel Saturday and the grips are thick and the pistol seems heavier than my blued Blackhawk.45 with 5.5” barrel. I might trade it back to the shop owner for a Henry in the .45-70 or the .45c. Don’t know yet.
Don't use a wire brush. It leaves scratches on the aluminum. You want a carding brush. It's very fine and leaves a nice polish or brushed finish depending on which you get. I came up with a couple of Ronnie Wells' frame designs. The Biznana and the Hager BB5. Both are for recoil control in the big recoil cartridges. It's not very difficult to fit these frames to your gun and Ronnie is super helpful and an all around great guy. The weight of the brass frame actually works out between the aluminum and the steel. You should also check out the rear sights he and Fermin Garza came out with. Much better sight picture than the factory blades and very solid when mounted.
@plowboysghost
6 ай бұрын
I used a brass brush. 0000 steel wool smooths out scratches enough for what I want. I'm still open to a RW grip frame, and the Biznana is one that I ended up eyeballing. I'm also in for better sights, but I also want a better front sight...so my factory pedestal/base might be dovetailed, one day.
@waynehager4228
6 ай бұрын
@@plowboysghost definitely check out Fermin Garza for the front sight. I'm pairing one of his TLA fronts with one of his and Wells #7 rears on a 4-5/8" 45C Blackhawk sporting a reworked Biznana I am building now. When I talked Ronnie into the Biznana and BB5 designs, my focus was on recoil control in the big bores. The design I am working on now will feature the same level of control and mitigation of the first two, but also have a more conventional look.

@@plowboysghost I hear ya. Living on a police pension just barely pays the bills, with a little beer money left over.😏 But I agree with ya. If you have the basic skills and modest amount of tools, then anything's possible, especially with grips. Back in the 80's and early 90's, when everyone and their pet poodle wanted custom 1911's, I was building 2 to 3 a month. And for an additional cost, I'd build custom one of a kind grips from exotic, and local wood. But then, I had a fully equipped gunsmith shop.
