Billy’s story is definitely a unique one. He really was just trying to survive a hard time in a hard corrupt place. Very loyal to his pals was not afraid to fight for what he thought was right.

You got that right. Who am I to sit in climate controlled comfort nearly 2000 miles and 140 years separated from his struggle to condemn his efforts to feed himself and avoid all the iron pointed at him.

No doubt! It's sad that countless good folks are forgotten and even horrible people are more remembered...NOT that Billy was a horrible person, at all. I think he was a decent feller who got himself into something that he either had to fight his way through or give up and die. Of course...leaving New Mexico and starting over somewhere else would've been the smart thing to do. I don't see him as a "murderer" so much as I do as a "survivor". I don't know of anyone he killed that didn't have it coming.

Billy , wild bill ,jesse james , wyatt earp and doc holiday. These where tough men living in tough times. We know what we are told none of us lived their lives or walked in there boots. None of us truely know what caused the men to live like they did. Look at what politicians do now. Look at the attacks on our rights now. Im pretty sure nothing has changed except those men stood up for what they believed to be right. Hard times make tough men.

Plus, history is written by the victors. So, all the slander of these men come from people who wrote the books long after they were dead. (which is much safer for the writer as I suppose Wyatt Earp or Wild Bill might have taken umbrage at the vile slander "historians" print about them.

I'm glad to see a longer sit-down video. The law, the government can not abide to see someone fight their wrongdoing. It was just what it was called... the Lincoln County war. War is brutal. Killing the bad people during war isn't supposed to be considered murder... but when your own government is the opponent... well, that can't be tolerated because if everyone started showing that bravery and tenacity, let's just say.. there would be a different president in Washington DC today. Those kinds of people have to be stopped and made an example of. It all comes down to one word.. "Control" That's the very same reason the Kill Dozier is so revered. I enjoyed the talk. Deo Vindice.

Yeah he had his flaws like everyone else, but ive always found him to be most interesting, along with Wild Bill. Doc and Bill were bigger then life and both died legends in my opinion. Kind of hard to chose a side those days when both sides claim to be right, just like today. Of course you could be imprisoned for your beliefs and actions, depending on which side has the power and backing even then. I do think though, it was much more dangerous era living in the 1870s NM territories back then, I mean by adding in a real war between two opposing factions that had no qualms about bushwhacking instead of arresting, in a wild region where outlaws had been hiding for years and plus the constant threat of skirmishing with roving native bands looking to plunder. I feel the Kid was caught up in a war he couldn't win, could be a lesson for us all.

The Lincoln county war had a lot to do with muddying the water. Because the other side wasn't exactly moral paragons. Did Billy break the law repeatedly? Sure. So did a lot of others. I'm reminded of one time there was a case where a man who assaulted a child was going to be let go by the judge. The whole town showed up wearing masks and hung him. They broke the law, but, were they in the wrong? Or was the law in the wrong? (I side with the town)

Interesting chat, I liked the KZread podcast, you should give more of them, Billy must have also been brave, I bet at times he felt isolated from his family and friends, we all think we are beyond criminal behavior, yet one set of rules can make us heroes and another set make us outlaws.

" Billy the Kid" was a man of his time. Not much different per say than the James boys, Daltons, Youngers and John Wesley Hardin. They all killed men at a relatively young age. I mean look at Capone, Bonney and Clyde , Baby face Nelson, Dillinger they were the 20th Century version of the old west outlaws. Difference was Ford Model A's and Tommy guns replaced horses and Winchester lever guns.

There comes a time where the thoughtful among us has to do self introspection and ask, where are our loyalties to? Nature shows us a lot of things to those who take the time to observe it and recognize the order and laws by which it functions. Mankind being a component of nature but nature being subject to mankind, there's a set of laws, principles, morals that define mankind that transcends the laws and principles codified in our respective Nations, governments. We fear man's governments because of the potential for those systems to bring us to unjust judgement and injury, otherwise there's no fear of them. We should fear the higher law that governs mankind as a whole, because by nature, there's a judgement coming for our actions. Which system should each one of us submit to, how are the two systems (higher natural law vs. civil law) complimentary or in conflict, and which is righteous in principle? I think most people with a head on their shoulders would recognize our civil law system (as good as it is), is not acting anywhere near what we would call righteous.

Billy is an interesting person. And as they say, History is written by the victors. I'm curious to hear what Billy himself would have to say. There was lots of corruption and double-dealing in the life of Billy Boney. You can respect a person's attributes without agreeing with all their methods. Look at General Robert E. Lee for example. I don't agree with his defense of slavery but I am very impressed with his intelligence, ability and sense of honor. Mr. Plowboy, I also like your hat. Need one of those for myself.
