Ruger is top notch. I bought a Vaquero in 45 Colt at the Wanamaker's gun show. Something was wrong with it in the if you didn't put the cylinder pin in exactly right, the cylinder wouldn't turn. And firing medium loads would make the pin back out. I called Ruger and the gal sent me a new cylinder pin and she added the takedown button assembly for good measure. I've probably burned 500 rounds through it since and it's still going strong. RUGER ROCKS!!!

Ruger is a good company. I have the same Blackhawk in 45 colt and love it. I reload so I can load my 45 Colt up to 44 Magnum specs and with the 45 it has a higher sectional density. I have also purchased 45 Colt Deer grenades from Buffalo Bore and some +P Underwood ammo. When I want to do some plinking I use my cowboy action loads and when the season is open and if I can get a tag I can deer hunt. Like you have said before it is very versatile cartridge. Nice video I'm glad Ruger came through for you.

Ruger did me right on a .41 Super Blackhawk. It's a SBH Hunter that's a Distributor Special But - it arrived defective, and I'm absolutely sure that it was NOT a mistake , because on an assembly line, a worker can't put that many culled parts on a gun without doing it deliberately. 50% of the parts of that gun were defective in some way Including chatter marks in the rifling.. And I had no choice other than to return it. They had to replace the gun because it couldn't be repaired. It took months because it's a Distributor limited run custom And they offered to replace it with a different model, but I opted to wait. So, they sent me a gun that's probably a bit better than what typically comes out of the factory.. I'm very happy with it.

I also have a few decades of Ruger purchases behind me. I’ve never received an incomplete firearm, nor have I ever had to use their customer service. I’d say that’s a pretty good track record in my opinion. If I had received that exact Blackhawk, I wouldn’t be upset about it either. It looks fantastic from my house, and I look forward to seeing it toss some lead!

Thank you. I emptied one cylinder full offhand at about 10 yards this afternoon just to see that it worked and get an idea how far from the sights it's hitting before I zero it. I wasn't far off, at all. Shoots great.

Plowboy, you will appreciate this: I just won a Gunbroker auction for a Ruger Blackhawk 44 Magnum flat top made in 1956. Yes, as I had your vid here running. It has a 6.5" barrel. It's in vg condition with some normal wear as one would expect. The grips are replacement synthetic mother of pearl which actually look pretty nice, but I'm going to get some new grips for it regardless. The price is much less than I expected it to go for - between $500 and $600. Yeah. Get this - the serial number is 4XXX. First year production. I am still a little stupefied that I was able to find this and win an auction on Gunbroker of all places... You can't buy a good used new model Blackhawk for anywhere near that. I am really pleased and can't wait to get my mitts on it. As to your situation - that is just weird. How does that even happen? Glad you are getting it worked out and congrats on YOUR new Ruger!

I've been dealing with firearms for years, Ruger is an outstanding company. I would be willing to bet that it had nothing to do with Ruger, somebody down the line when it was shipped decided they needed a rear sight and a injector rod assembly.

I love Ruger's single action's. But they really do need to get on top of their quality control. Two friends of mine had to send their Bisley's back. It was the grip gap you were talking about. To Ruger's credit they did in fact take care of the problem. Great video. Thanks for your time and effort in putting these together.

That's wild that it would make it out of the factory missing those parts. Glad its being taken care of. Ive had a couple rugers with very noticeably canted front sights. I should have noticed when I bought the guns but didn't. Ruger took care of it. About 6 weeks each. Also they have sent me parts for free that i lost while disassembling a single six in the field. The person on the phone even laughed and guessed what parts I lost. Guess im not the only one.

My experience with Ruger’s customer service is that they are absolutely outstanding. I have a single-six convertible revolver that I bought new in 2006, shot the piss out of it. While I didn’t abuse it, I certainly didn’t baby it other than cleaning it after every use. Fast forward to last year, suddenly was not accurate and thought I felt it spit. I contacted Ruger asking them for any recommended gunsmiths in my area. I told them the preferred ammo I use in it, and how it was suddenly erratic. They suggested that I send it in (my local gun store sent it for me). Three weeks later the store calls and says “the gun is ready.” I assumed they meant that it was back with a list of repair recommendations. I got there and it was completely fixed and rebuilt. New cylinders, new barrel, new ejector rod housing, reblued, and internals checked out and adjusted where needed. It looked like a brand new gun (kinda was). Expecting a hefty bill, I grab my wallet and ask how much… $0.00 dollars. Didn’t even charge for shipping. I decided to buy a Ruger Wrangler as my beater 22 out of gratitude a couple weeks later. Also, I have a P95. The old recoil spring assembly were held on by a C-clip. Mine lost the C-clip. I called them to ask if they had any more. They said no, but asked for my address. They said they might have something I could use. A couple days later a get a brand new recoil spring assembly in the mail, a next gen version that eliminated the need for the C-clip. No charge. They’re incredible.

I have a blue 41 mag Blackhawk 6.5" bbl. It has the internal lock located within the grip frame. Suckin. I broke the hammer strut trying to change the strut spring which was different than other Blackhawk s because of the internal lock. My dumbass fault. That particular hammer strut was impossible to find. Tried everything I knew. Revolver was useless at this point, soooo I got hold of Ruger customer service and explained what I did. They had me send it in and they took care of the issue not costing me a dime. Best customer service on anything I've ever bought. I now have about 16 Ruger made handguns and rifles.

Turns out it was missing some parts and they sent them to me no questions asked and even a new manual. I have always been a fan of Ruger guns and know they stand by their product. Don’t feel bad, I just bought a 4 5/8 stainless Super Blackhawk. The grips on it looked like a 3 year old installed them. But that wasn’t the worst part. I went and shot it. I was having trouble getting it to stay sighted in It would group where I was shooting them the next group would be further to the right. I would move the sight and it would hit where it should for a round or two. I would repeat the sight adjustment and it would do the same thing for a round or two then. Start hitting to the right. That’s when my son noticed that the front sight was leaning to the right. The more we shot it the more it leaned to the right. I called Ruger and was advised to stop shooting it because the barrel was loose and I needed to send it back for repair. They told care of it in recorded time and even replaced the poor fitting grips.

I've always had good luck with Ruger revolvers, and luckily, I never had to contact them. But it's good to know that if something happens that they support their products. My favorite Ruger is a New Model Blackhawk flat-top 41 magnum 6.5" barrel. 300 were special ordered by Williams shooter supply, 191 in the 6.5" and 109 in 4 5/8" barrels. Got in a trade at a gun show from a gentleman who didn't like the recoil, I'm assuming that he didn't have much experience with magnum revolvers. But I've been shooting heavy 45 colt and 454 casull for years, and the 41 is a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. Thanks for sharing your experience with Ruger. I'll mention that I've been shooting Rugers since I was a teenager, and next month, I'll be 61 so that is a pretty good track record with Ruger revolvers.

I had a company send me a $3,600 custom lever action that was missing a retention screw that held the screw that held the two action arms on the lever together and so the larger screw wiggled right out and the arms and block fell apart. And it had a 58 week lead time. They sent me the screw I needed, but geez. This is worse tho in the sense those are obvious parts to miss.

Ruger and I have parted ways. mismatched bore chamber sizes and honestly? the advent of Italian reproductions that are both gorgeous and well made and MUCH more faithful to the original Colt. not to mention the ability to use one piece grips which... to me is essential. Ruger shined on many many customers that had 44-40 guns with .430 bores and .427 chambers.. Not their problem? but... by the same token I have cracked a cyl on a SBH with 50K rounds through it. they replaced it for free and also changed out the ejector rod housing etc... Sooo mixed reviews on their customer service and poor reviews on their build quality. My thinking is that they use worn out tooling a lot of the time.

well, i bought me a 7.5 ruger 44 SRH from gun broker. it was a dealer like 30 minutes from my house, oh, 10 years back now i reckon, (ok, i'm english so that may sound kinda odd) anyhows, it shot kinda ok, but there was something a little odd, so the local range too a look and said, yup, your timing is off. so sent it to ruger on their dime. week later, knock at the door, fedex man with a big box from ruger. 'what is this thing that i had to protect with my life, giant paperweight ?' - it looks like a fixed revolver from ruger i said. so yup, ruger and glock, cant beat'em. another story, bought a gp100 357 from a local store. it wouldnt eject 38s even. seemed like the gun had hardly been used, maybe thats why. called ruger, this was last year. same thing, replaced the cylinder free of charge. free shipping to my door. two instances of ruger coming thru.

Here in California we have a Roster of Handguns that Dictates which Handguns we can Buy New. it's extremely stupid and I hate it. But Henry's Big Boy Revolver just Made the List. They're expensive at about a 1k but I want one. The Non issue that I have with this is that I have a Special Edition Carbine that's Nickel Plated and The Revolver only comes with a Brass Trigger Guard so Id need to change it out for it to match my Rifle. Im glad Ruger took Care of you. I have never needed to use their Customer Service but I always heard good things.

I haven't left them feedback, yet. Not sure that I will because I don't want to praise a shop that sold an incomplete gun, but then I get that they don't open and inspect every gun they sell. Ruger either shipped them an incomplete gun (which Ruger doesn't seem to think they did, but are nonetheless making it right with me), or as Ruger said, someone else took the parts off the gun. Either way, all will be right at no extra cost to me...in a week and a half, or so.

@plowboysghost from my dealing with them. They seem like good people. I never had a problem. Always got my ammo and guns with no problem. But, not sure if they sold the parts or the gun was returned to them from a buyer and they didn't look it over. Can't see Ruger quality control being that bad. I'll check their reveiws for negative comments.

I think they rushed out your gun due to demand. that would be fine but sending it out as they did shows that there is some failure in the quality control methods if not complete lack thereof. My 629 is probly my most modern purchase...10-15 years old now... it came with two fired cases. Bet the guy who test fired it would have noticed you issues. way back when guns came with a test target.

How does the weight of that 41 compare to some of those colt clones you have ruger has it listed at 38 ounces if I’m not mistaken

To me...it's not heavy at all. Of course the 4-3/4" Colt SAA clone in .45 Colt is lighter, but neither are heavy...and both are relatively quick handling/pointing.

Wow, that is some high praise for the 41 mag when you strip down a 45 Colt to get it into the field. Does the 45 Colt need to get a bit concerned about its position in the pecking order? Good to hear the positive feedback on Rugers customer service as well.

Humdinger. How that a dealership couldn't see those things missing, is beyond me. Did they take it out of the OEM box? I'd be more prone to distrusting the dealer than I would be Ruger on this transaction, but it is what it is. The problem will be solved, it's just going to be a week longer than you'd hoped. My experience with Ruger's C/S has been very pleasant and resolution is typically reached very quickly. Speaking of bang for buck with Ruger, the new American Gen II rifle has scored sub 1/2 MOA (yes you read that right) with a few brands of .223 Ammo, in one video example I've seen. How about them apples?

It’s really not the dealer’s fault. They get hundreds of guns in in the course of a day, and I’m sure they don’t take every one out of the box to look at it. That’s what the pre purchase inspection is for. Anybody can make a mistake, though, and Ruger. customer service is top notch. Glad it all worked out for you, Plowboy.

@@plowboysghost Wow. That's pretty lame in their part. How a retail shop can buy products from distributors and never actually check out if they are getting what they purchased, and then resell on a total assumption. That's just lazy business. I discovered a functional problem with an LCR revolver at a local shop where I lived, while just checking it out from the shop proprietor taking it out of the glass case. I pointed it out to him, he sat down and carefully checked it out himself. He agreed. He set it in queue to be sent back to Ruger. It wasn't obvious to the casual observer but I noticed it when running the trigger and working it. People can miss things for sure. But a missing sight block and a whole ejector rod housing? Yeahhhhh.

@@exothermal.sprocket I'm sure there are a lot of dealers selling on Gunbroker and elsewhere online that act more as a distributor of sorts...selling hundreds of guns per month or more, who never open the boxes of new firearms.
