I have the exact same shotgun in 12 gauge..Ithaca Model 37 'Basic' model manufactured in 1980. Bought it brand new in 1982. I had a 'Polychoke' adjustable choke added to it other than that it is as purchased. Very excellent well made sturdy shotgun. Not real fancy looking but the satin finish on the wood and parkerized finish on the metal parts don't have to worry about minor dings and scratches like you would with a fancier finish. The gun has never let me down I'll taken much game with it from small game to deer.
Informative video - lots of good info straight from the mouth as you guys think about the steps you are going through. Real-time, real thoughts. Thanks for posting!
Very nice. Just bought myself the ithica m37 deerslayer 12 guage, and as someone used to tearing down ar-15s and handguns, this was very informative. I was a little hesitant on taking mine apart due to age. However, this video was very helpful and I dug right in to clean it. No problems 😊. Thank you.
11:50 its called a shell stop
That's a well made shotgun had a feather lite semi auto Ithaca loved it even because it was side injection. Beautiful gun.
I have a newer defense 37, nice gun!
Rest In Peace to anyone else who hoped this video would show how to get the top extractor out. U have to use a tiny pin or something and drive the plunger back and then pry the extractor out. Best of luck it’s almost impossible
My 1957 does not have any matching marks on the barrel and receiver.
Is this a slam fire capable model? If not, are they different in any way?
What hollow ground screwdriver set do you recommend for working on an Ithaca model 37?
One little rarely realized fact about Ithaca M37 & M87 shotguns. You can feel with your finger through the loading port, if the hammer is forward using tip of your finger. Hence eased hammer spring for long term storage. This does not apply to the smaller frame, newer 28 gauge unfortuneately. You cannot feel the eased forward internal hammer in this gauge only.Trivia.
Does the ithaca slug gun come with a Rifled barrel,,,
Hi. I have an Ithaca 37. Based on the serial number it was made in 1942. The little piece at the bottomof the barrel (where the end cap screws into) came off. It was not originally welded but looked like it was pressed into the barrel. Do you have any suggestion on how to attach it back to the barrel? Do you think I can weld it back on it without damaging the barrel? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Great video by the way.

Don't weld the barrel. You need to remove it to clean the bore etc.

@@ByouKhaki Thank you. I took a chance and tap welded the piece back on the barrel already. Seems to work for now.
I have the same rifle just bought it. When you pump the first cartridge into the barrel, a spring sound comes from the magazine tube with the movement of the second cartridge in the magazine. does this happen to you too? I have a Remington 870 too. it doesn't happen there. thank you for the nice video.
Did you have the ghost ring rear sight and the front sight on that Ithaca installed, or did the shotgun come equipped with those sights?
yeah how do you get the butt pad off? Everyones video starts with it already off.

If you have to ask how this is done, I would recommend that you stay away from disassembling anything.
