    I like how half of the people said over head press, the other half said bench press and one guy said press. I lean more towards the overhead press myself and I feel it is the most neglected compound movement (done properly) in most gyms.

  • @ericmarkham952

    @ericmarkham952

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yeah if you can only do one upper body lift it should be press but it'd be stupid to leave out bench since most of us can do it.

  • @noobclips1570

    @noobclips1570

    I agree to a point. and my reasoning for that is bench requires you to have very strong and healthy shoulders so usually I tell people to learn to do overhead press first and then gradually incorporate the bench press later in there training (I'm talking after 6 months to a year of over head pressing at least 2 or 1 times a week) in the end they compliment each other but the over head press develops your strength in the bench more than the bench does in the over head press.

    Great stuff. There’s a movement towards quality over quantity and minimalism in the strength world that I really love. People get way too carried away, mainly those who are just training to be healthier and stronger for life. I know I did for a long time. Perfecting the basic compound lifts will get you very, very far. Thanks for the info man!

F.sqt holds for time, as much weoght as u can hold without losing thorasic ext etc. Dl. Blocks cntr grip, std grip as much as ur can hold with form. Dl. Standard up to a single. Dl. upright posture wide grip, using quads and stretching adductors at bottom.. F.sqt holds. Pushups on blocks/alt wth bnch (sometimes with weight. Sometimes jst as many set as can). Bnch slow mo/pause. Shoulder press. no bk support. (All trycep dominant grips) Pull ups neg/assist pull. Rows with rope +wrist straps. All angles i can holds+slow neg. Upto as heavy as can. Plus a few other odd ones. nordics, glute band things, hip flexor things. But it's basically 。。。squat bench and Deadlift. 😅

    The lower tier exercises.are very good for conditioning the body to later focus on the main lifts, as most gym goers probably don't yet have the muscle mass or mind-muscle connections to do main compound lifts. Core work is also very helpful for the ordinary lifter who gyms maybe 1 or 2 times a week and likely never competes .

    If some of you are recreational athletes, and strength is just a part of what you're looking for... Then Alan's words do apply because you should spend time practicing the sport. And spending less time in the gym can help you do that. But but but, it is real that people have weaknesses (Like jumping off of their non dominant leg) they want to work on for which they should indeed do specific exercises.

    Although I highly agree the big three Bench, Squats and Deadlift are your core lifts and big producers....... other exercises and lifts come into play on what you are working for. If powerlifting is your thang cool and true you don't want to stray to far away from the big three. But if into bodybuilding you have got to work specific muscles and isolate those in specific lifts. It really depends on your end goal and what you are trying to accomplish!

    During quarantine I had to do everything single leg. Some of us had no choice. Lol. Let's see if it helps me. Sure not more than the barbell variations, but still a time to get know about and try it for me.

    I don’t know how you have the patience. Everyone want to get stronger and better without putting out effort,and/or experiencing pain. The best thing about this is not having to wait on a power rack to open up.
