Apple River stabbing trial: Nicolae Miu's interrogation video [FULL]

The interrogation of Nicolae Miu was played in court at the Apple River stabbing trial.
In the video, he told Hart he defended himself. He said the tubers had weapons - a smaller knife and a kitchen knife - and he took the smaller knife from them when they attacked him.

@@user-ee4pf3zz7dthey told him the events at the river had been recorded? Or, are you referring to them telling him the interrogation room was audio and video recorded? If you were referring to the river, I wonder if he thought it was a very distant view that didn’t catch what was actually said and they wouldn’t see him walking up with that knife clipped onto his pocket? Otherwise, it just makes no sense that he knew before that interview that it had been recorded because his lies just fly in the face of everything that went on and was videotaped. Nor did you hear the sober witness testimony from a completely unrelated party. You don't get to just decide what truth is and reject every piece of evidence that conflicts with the reality you've created. That's not how truth works. I know what the video looks like. I've watched it a handful of times, and yes, it does look that way until you have it broken down for you moment by moment and hear the totality of what transpired. I guess you know more from watching a video than a unanimous jury who has all the facts 🤷

Never once in the video do you see the kids take his snorkel or have knives of any kind. He certainly didn't "twist the knife" from the kid he disemboweled. That kid never had a knife. He has both hands on him the whole time! This dude was drunk and pissed and didnt want his ego bruised by getting his "ass kicked by a bunch of kids" like he said in the interview. So for you to know that he knew that he overreacted, you must know him personally and had a conversation with him and he told you that he overreacted? Because people also lie when they're nervous or under a ton of pressure in hopes that he's not going to spend the rest of his life in prison. Which is exactly what happened. It's like when a little kid gets in trouble, they will lie, lie, lie to avoid consequences. It's human nature. Just like the kids lying too... Like them saying that "A crazy man that was fully dressed came out of the bushes and stabbed Isaac." Or every one of them not remembering which hand he used to punch the girl. Or not remembering if he used an open hand or closed fist... Or the girl that allegedly got hit couldn't remember which side she got hit. She also said that she deleted the video on her phone of the incident. Or saying that he said that he was saying that he was looking for little girls, but that's not on film, nor do you see him say barely anything to the punks... Yet, the brats didn't get in any trouble at all, even though they ganged up on him and assaulted him multiple times... This man got screwed with the charges he got. The kids got what they deserved...

Problem is in the US with the gun/weapon culture, /fortress mentality, the bar for recognizing genuine self defense, has been lowered to a point it seems, that being shoved around and shouted at by young adults, with no weapons, and not really being in any way in mortal danger, (a few were just pushing him to get him away) warrants you being able to kill some one or slice them up,- even a girl ! In this case, the guy barely had a mark on him after being in a situation where he ' feared for his life' ! but look at what HE left behind. I bet if all these people defending him had a brother or sister on the receiving end of his actions, their opinions would be totally the opposite.

I was a victim of domestic violence from my ex. I lied to the police to protect her and out of ignorance and shock. I pushed her down, as she was hitting me and she took my phone out of my hand that I was trying to use to record her for evidence. When she fell I took my phone back immediately but did not touch her, and then started recording. She called the cops. When they came, I didn't tell them the most accurate version. I failed to mention she was hitting me, and that she took my phone out of my hands.. They twisted my story so that It was that "she was damaging my property so i went up and attacked her over property". At that point I couldnt go back. Also, they wouldnt allow me to use any supportive evidence of her leading up to the "violence" to prove self defense because in a DV case, it's up to the prosecutor to bring in events leading to the charged act (in my opinion this is absolute corruption). Mind you, she had many, many times beaten me and I did nothing and took bruises for it. 2-3 of the times she grabbed me by my shirt collar, and repeatedly battered me so bad it ripped my shirt completely off. The one time I had previously called the police, she told them that a bruise on her arm, which she got from herself from hitting me with her arms as she missed her swings, were from me. There are many reasons why innocent people "lie". First, there's the SHOCK of not fully processing the reality of what is happening. Then there are other reasons that do not come from actual guilt. The best thing for anyone, ethically guilty or innocent, is to NEVER speak to the police. They're in the business of story telling. With that said, idk if this guy is guilty or not. It seems like he may have stepped out of the self defense area a bit. In my case, it was a simple push after taking multiple hits and a direct attack at me while i was trying to just stay back and record. But I'm just commenting on your comment about how "innocent people don't lie". That's completely incorrect. But im now a convicted DV (reduced). So... there's a lot that people don't know about the system.

He just stood there following them, no wonder they thought he was a weirdo. If he felt threatened after they were pushing and slapping him, he could have waved the knife to get them to back off, he had no reason to turn back and stab Riley as she walked away. There is no justification for what he did. Everyone on the river acted poorly, he’s the only one that stabbed and murdered some one. Stabbing 5 people, That was one hell of an escalation.

Why did he conveniently only misremember the facts that made him look guilty? Everyone responds to trauma differently. But even with the benefit of the doubt that excuse still doesn't hold up. He was clearly very conscious about what parts he "remembered" and those which he fabricated because everything worked in his favor. There are just so many inconsistencies in his story that you have to cherry pick facts just to make it seem rational. If you have watched both the interrogation and the testimony, then I don't see how you can draw any other conclusion. He was lying because he felt guilty about something and didn't know there was a video. Anyone who defended themselves wouldn't leave the victims to die and then lie about everything. I definitely think that without the interrogation there would be plenty of reasonable doubt on a murder charge, but him trying to cover it up made his intentions clear as day. @@louciphre2803 Considering everyone that was there lied, the only truthful knowledge of the situation can be obtained from watching the video, which clearly shows the man is innocent since it was in self-defense. The standard for lethal self-defense cases is whether a reasonable person in the same situation would feel the threat of death or severe bodily injury. Many people in that situation would indeed worry about being severely beaten or being drowned, after all they struck him while he was down in the water and also pushed him back down into the water when he was trying to get up. Additionally, he has a bad heart. The only other thing that’s supposed to be taken into consideration is whether the person instigated the incident, which I don’t think he did. But let’s assume he did, obviously nobody feared him or thought that he was a threat. He didn’t initiate physical contact, instead it was the girl/female who grabbed and pushed him who did, which proves he wasn’t a threat since she was unafraid of him. He had every right to stop her from touching him without his consent. But the sexist young men obviously think that females are allowed to touch people without their consent and without consequences, hence they went into white knight mode and attacked him, which prompted him to defend himself against them. The jury obviously let their emotions influence their decision, and coupled with their ignorance of the law, they convicted him, but of lesser charges than he was being prosecuted for because they knew in their hearts that the young adults were to blame, but they weren’t going to let an adult “get away” with unaliving a “boy” and injuring other “children”. Hopefully he wins his appeal.

He also never held up the knife for everyone to clearly see and never announced to back off and let him leave or he would use it. No one knew they would be jumping into their deaths by punishing him for smacking that annoying girl riling him up further. A lethal weapon should only be used as self defense if the situation threatens your life, which he may have felt it was when they slammed him into the water and smacked him. He never was choked until he already stabbed a few people and got up, no longer being pinned or thrown in the water. It still takes quite a bit for them to kill him with just fists and throwing him into the water at which Miu's friend was already rushing over to break it up as soon as he hit the water. Miu resorted to killing immediately after recieving the first few non lethal blows, plunging his knife deep into the abdomen of one of the victims. It was not justified self defense. He was super drunk, irrational and aggressive. And he was out for blood for getting his ego hurt instead of walking away. Miu could have resorted to many less violent acts like, slapping/punching back, screaming for help, simply just waving with his knife instead of using it or just running away; 3. This is definitely not a violent ‘mob’ like most people here like to state. They had no guns or any other weapons, didn’t use excessive force and were not particularly threatening. He could’ve most likely walked away with very minor injuries but instead restored to murder and injuring people and continued even after he already scared the group away. People have lost their minds for thinking that this monsters actions are justified. I wonder if they would think the same about this man’s actions if it was their son who was killed.
