This kid was cackling like a hyena enjoying watching his friends bullying and harassing a man his father's age. What a coward. All these people live in a small town where they know each other or know someone who does. The Jury was pressured to convict because the family of the dead kid is staring at them with hopes for retribution, and the jury members have to live in that town after the trial is over. There were many things stacked against Miu. He deserves punishment for lying to cops but he was defending himself against a mob of drunken fools who were being violent with him. These kids will have to live with the consequences of their thoughtless actions. Can you imagine going for a job interview after this event? Can you imagine meeting the father of the girl you started dating and the father recognized you as the hooligan who tormented and threatened an old man with the old man going to prison for life by actions you contributed to the tragedy. However, it 'was' justified, but it is what caused primal instincts to kick in. ...and because Nicolae didn't ask for any of this, nor did he deserve any of this, everyone else should be charged. Thankfully the laws don’t allow you to k*ll someone just because your ego can’t stand a crowd calling you names. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Not only do you have to prove you feared for your life but in the state they live in you have to prove that he acted reasonably. This isn’t a Florida stand your ground state hate to tell ya. The jury will be told by the state to take the fact that the defendant did not retreat into account. Hard to say he acted reasonably if he had the ability to retreat. Doesn’t matter what anyone’s opinion is… the jury has to follow the law by the evidence they are shown and nothing else.

@@moselleconger4156 a few things. You are being awfully reductionist when saying that this boiled down to some name-calling. Jerk, asshole, fuck face, do not bear the same social, weight, and stigma, nor encourage the same emotional response to those hearing it as pedophile, rapist, child, predator, on a public beach, attended by children with their parents. To pretend these names are comparable in anyway is bad faith. Number two standing in a body of water and retreating while in a body of water is much harder and riskier than retreating on dryland have you ever attempted to run in water have you ever attempted to walk quickly in water? I would argue that under the circumstances it was not reasonable to believe he could retreat with a reasonable level of safety, while maintaining the ability to defend himself in the event, someone decided to attack him. This is evidence by the many times people in this situation fell where they may not have had they been on dryland. The man was called names that he could reasonably believe would cause not only his direct aggressors to aggress further towards him but also now the entire public beach unlike Hattie been called a jerk or a motherfucker.

They shoved him then put their hands on his chest and arm 3 times. After that, the boys attacked him and there's no video evidence he struck the girl, and if he did, it was still after the girls had shoved him and he was verbally humiliated in a very public manner. Locking him up for murder is going too far. Certainly the situation was complex, and the adult’s decision to defend themselves was likely justified given the circumstances, under the law. If the teenagers were intentionally provoking the adult and then assaulted him, attempting to distort or deny their actions, it’s exacerbating the situation leading the adult to feel justified in defending themselves against the aggressive behavior of the teenagers. Regarding the false accusations made by the teenagers, similar to the trump case, there may be legal implications for their actions, such as charges of defamation or incitement to violence. Additionally, if it can be shown that their false accusations directly led to the assault, this could be a mitigating factor in his defense.

Guess the gang didn’t like his answer and decided to taunt him which started the whole ugly mess. This kid couldn’t fight his way out of jello. 6 against 1 until those others decided it was their business too! The girls had No business involving themselves giving orders like they had authority over anyone. Little girl got popped in the face means she was too close to Mui. @Saelee2004 First, I just want to be clear that I'm not condoning the kids' behavior. Secondly, I'm not sure if you have watched Mr. Miu's testimony and and cross yet, but he himself admits that he approached the boys because in his mind he was positive they stole the phone they lost. He walked up and was staring at them and silently. M said that he did not say anything to the boys or ask about the phone. The kids were wrong to razz him, but they weren't wrong to feel creeped out. He charged the boys in their tubes, put his snorkle in his mouth and used both hand to grab the tube and the camera boys leg. After this, they started calling him a pedo and razzed him more. That's when Maddi walked over yelling to get out of here and leave the kids alone. He pulled out his his knife at this point and held it down by his waist. M turned to stare at the boys again and Maddi pulled him by his arm away from the kids, toward her again. Mr. M then physically assaulted Maddie (he claims he pushed her face with his hand, others claimed a punch including someone from his own group saying it looked like he punched her. That's when he was first pushed down and slapped. He came up immediately gutting the first kid. Gets pushed back down. Then the second kid pushes his friends back to break up the fight and as soon as he turns to tell M to get back too, M stabs him. He gets up with his buddy now infront of him and a clear path back to his group but he lunges to the side to stab Riley in the ribs. Then Issac pushed him away after this and was stabbed in the heart. He then had to walk over to the last kid he stabbed (the one that slapped him) in order to stab him. How is it self defense or nothing wrong to choose to walk over to a kid not even in arm's reach to stab him? Post attack, not only did M do wrong by lying, but he also did not attempt aid, washed the murder weapon and threw it in the bushes, hid what happen from his group, changed his appearance, finished tubbing down the river, tried to leave walking right past the cops. When he was caught he said I heard there been a stabbing and I look like the suspect. Talking about how his group all wants to find out what happened out there... he then, like you said, lied and made up a complete BS story that he thought sounded like self defense. He knew he went over and above defending himself and attacked those kids. Which is exactly why he avoided the police and made up a story that sounded like he didn't go overboard. He was unaware that it was all being recorded and thought his word would be believed over the drinking teenagers. M invoked spousal privilege to block his ex-wifes testimony in court on what he told her had happened immediately after the attack. Long story short. Both sides were in the wrong here but Mr.M is the one who escalated this and turned it physically violent. He also escalated from hands to weapons and as a result, 4 teenagers have been maimed for life and one's life has been snuffed out. I think he should get murder 2 for Issac and at least one or two counts of attempted murder for the two kids that he had to walk to to stab them. In my mind it's not self defense when you have an open route of escape and a friend one way and instead you walk the other way to stab someone. If you have to walk over to them to stab them then you are not defending yourself in that moment.
