I’m so glad that she is surrounded by people who have her best interest at heart. It’s like the concern I have for my own children who are about the same age as her. Perhaps one of the most surprising videos of Angelina Jordan as a child, among many others from the same period that are at least as disconcerting. Sitting on the edge of a sofa, which was never the best way to sing, a mischievous child delighted to celebrate Valentine's Day in her own way, she offers us a memorable version of this standard in a voice as powerful as it is moving. I bet that we, who are passionate about song, will not soon be able to witness the emergence of such a phenomenon, and thanks are due to her family and friends, in particular her grandmother, who, by filming her from a very young age, have allowed us to see this child musician develop and assert herself.

Of course we think of how much Angelina’s voice has gotten stronger, more resonant, and more beautiful in her current version of this song, but I don’t think young Angelina should be compared to older Angelina. She’s the best child singer I ever heard, and her songs at 7, or 8, or 10 stand on their own. Her raw voice here is raspy, emotive, nuanced, powerful. No effects, no production-just one glorious take, and we see how happy she is to sing for us. I can’t say I like her current version better because comparing them is not fair. The combination of this insanely beautiful phrasing coupled with her young voice is devastating. She refined that phrasing in her current version, but you can hear those same elements here at 10. The best child singer ever is now the best singer I’ve ever heard.

There is no doubt that at the age of 16 she has higher abilities, as is appropriate for someone who has been singing all her life starting at the age of one and a half, but you can see how much potential motivation and desire she has at such a young age. Great reaction to another Angelina classic! Yes, her vocal on the 16 year old version of this is amazing, polished and perfect, but this one at age 10 is so wonderfully intimate and emotionally powerful that I still prefer it. Imagine what it would be like to be there as she sits in her living room and sings her heart out for her fans with so much love and emotion. Awesome!

This is the best child performance of this song, EVER. Her recent 16 yo performance of it is simply the best I've ever heard, male or female, EVER & this has been covered by everyone (600+ artists) including all the "Greats." It's my current Angelina #1 performance, & that's really saying something.

There's a live version from back then too. It was at a charity event for HIV. I think you would absolutely love it...she's being accompanied by a great sax and one of Europe's top jazz pianists, who is 'free expressing' the entire song and only touching on the main landmarks of the melody...that means that Angelina had never heard it before haha...that's nuts!!...she delivers such a good performance that even the pianist gave her a standing ovation before leaving the stage. Just search for it live and you'll find it...she has purple flowers in her hair.

As a fan since early 2016, I was tossed down the rabbit hole by her earlier work because that's all there was. And, it was so exceptional. Of course, she has improved. Of course, she will continue to improve. But, nothing can take away from any of her performances at any stage of her development. It's all great. As amazing as her current abilities are, some of her early ones are still on my favorites list. I would love for you to react to her at any age as I'm sure you will be happy with your choice.

What can we say!? The transition from sweet little girl into an accomplished artist and then back again to the wonderful child she was is mind blowing. Yes, you are so right, her video's from when she was young will never be forgotten and played forever. They aren't just "Oh, how nice that was" video's, they are classics like this one. She has always been able to express love in her voice and on the receiving end our hearts willingly accept her love. I loved your reactions and I'm very glad you have joined us on her journey. I no exactly what you mean about her End notes, her music choices that separates her from the rest. It’s really majestic.. She does this with many of her Renditions... I’ve always said, Sometimes the note changes she chooses of the end of her Renditions, sounds like a Beginning of a new Song. At the end of her Renditions, She just leaves your soul in a place that feels like it can last forever. I get that exact feeling when I heard her Renditions of Rihanna’s Stay.. listen to the last notes choices , words and Vibrato.. Even though it was the end, To me it sounded like the beginning of a new song..

How and how much she practiced for this performance I don't know. I guess she did part of it together with her grandmother until they agreed to record it. They must have enjoyed the whole process. She is in such a good (and sweet) mood here! Somehow, just like the "I put a spell" on you", this for me is a masterpiece! To sing a slow ballad with such perfect timing and dynamics and diction is fantastic at any age! Not many experienced singers would be able to sing it this way, with also the right use of voice registers! It's not an easy karaoke to sing along with too! But the most moving thing is the innocence she naturally has and the love for music, singing and performing! It really feels like she wants to sit on your lap and surprise you and sing especially for you and make you happy! How? It's a mystery and a miracle at the same time! The little 'mistakes' on the pronumciation (ValentiMe) can only be forgiven (not being a native English speaker) and make her and her perfomance even more adorable. If I watch this video twice after eachother at first I'm just happy, second time I'm in sweet tears allover! Her STA-AA-AYYYY is just too much! Loved your reaction. You probably felt something similar!

The progression of her from this early in her life performance to the current, more up to date one, is massive. I believe the current one is the most mesmerizing rendition of the song I have ever experienced. It's simply breathtaking.

I love both versions, the 16 yr old version is technically better in every way (better sound, better production, more developed voice, etc) and yet this 10 year old version hits me with more emotion. Maybe because we can see that she is putting everything her 10 yr old self has into it, pushing her limits (at the time) for us the listeners. This girl is truly something special! The emotion she puts into this is simply stunning. Of course her voice control and technique has improved over time, but that is only part of the magic. Emotion is essencial to drag the listener into the performance, and she nails that at any age ❤

I knew you would love it😉 I know how blown away you were by her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT, and now that you are doing "doubles" by her, you just HAVE to hear her performance of it on June 23rd this year, with the vocal skills she has now. She just took it to another level IMO. And that should tell you a lot, because her AGT performance at age 13 was out of this world 🙂. In June she performed it again on a vastly popular sing-along TV programme here in Norway, called "Allsang På Grensen". That performance was her first time live on a stage since her AGT performances. It was also her first visit to her home country in that same period, due to the pandemic. She was fully aware that she had the ears and eyes of an entire nation on her, and yet she went out there and just killed it with ease. How much effort she gave there explains why by 12 she was master classing every technique in this one. Obviously the effort is charming, and the kid is sweet, but the performance was way too difficult for almost any twenty year old. That's the difficult stuff right there, vocals barely supported by a quiet backing track, low slow vibrato, high belts, impossible. I'll take the 16 yr old performance for the win over nearly anything including this, impossible difficulty and perfection at 16 is nuts. But this is obviously special, and less fathomable. Sweet as anything as well. She gives none of us even a remote chance of resisting. If you at all look for the good kid and good singer in her, you're done.

Ok you guys know I like novels, so I'll try to elaborate. She is amazing here at 10, but far from perfect, she perfected these techniques used in here by about 12. The effort shown by her here helps explain why in two short years she went from this, to doing stuff like this amazingly, despite this having techniques for people in their thirties usually, both the low slow notes, and the transitioning to high belts, high belts by themselves are less difficult in songs where they keep you closer to that part of your voice the whole way, but in this one, well she's among the best transition vocalists already right. I do prefer the 16 year old version, she made it even more difficult and absolutely, with an insanely beautiful voice, and interesting artistic choices, delivered a perfect performance at 16. But this one as unbelievable as she is now, and was by 11,12, this one was even more impressive and unfathomable. There is what? Maybe a dozen twenty year olds in this world today that could deliver this song this well, in these techniques? She's 10, and had no business doing this this well, and we didn't deserve that much effort and openness, this kind of risky performance from her at all. Any other ten year old great singer chooses a much simpler and smoother style, AJ chose to try and sing it like a seasoned Jazz elite singer and almost accomplishes it. Pretty much does. When those techniques are done bad, it's really bad, and this isn't bad at all. You notice her at 12, and in many many videos, can piece together that if she would have done this exact song this exact way, it would be absolutely perfectly already by then. But who cares, what's unreasonably cute is her will power and courage. She never needed perfection, she needed to try her best for people, stay true to the artist in her, reachable or not, and found impossibly mature perfection in short order because of it. This was the one that explains how by twelve we got what she did with wicked game, million years ago, stay, etc, etc. There was a transition from the unreal 9 year old in her talent and artistry in I put a spell on you, and fly me to the moon, to the amazingly moving performances in this very difficult and mature style mentioned at 12 there, and this at 10, it is IMO our clue for what was coming and among her cutest in effort and openness. There were a few others closely related, but this one was an exact match for the style she was developing.

It sounds to me like she has a bit of a cold. If I hadn't heard her later work, I'd be worried she'd injured her voice, but thankfully no. Her version is a cover of Sarah Vaughn's rendering(s) of "My Funny Valentine", e.g., kzread.info/dash/bejne/jGFttMlyma3aqZc.html and not the more well-known version by Frank Sinatra. Ms. Vaughn sang it differently, with the same core style, every time I could find a recording of her.
