An Honest Review of the Water-Cooled Triumph Bonneville T100

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I didn't like my old Bonneville, but the new model is completely different. And by all accounts, it's a much better bike. Thanks to Triumph Australia, I was able to borrow one for a few months to see if it'd win me over.

Looks like a nice bike. Often a slightly smaller bike in a given line is more responsive and has better handling. My first bike 25.5 yrs ago was a Yamaha XS650. It made me fond of straight twins. It was heavy enough to be stable, but not too heavy. Once i had some decent experience on it, it handled pretty well. I always kind of liked standards. Now i'm into cruisers (Shadow 1100, my third ever bike). Triples intrigue me too, and i know Triumph makes those too, so maybe someday........☺. Nice review. I love the humor and the sight gags (it has a little pickup.......😉)

Got another thought share if I may brotha man: first off the "it's a triumph mate!" thing is 1, not something I agree with as I can think of 100 different things I love about both the liquid cooled generation and the previous generation of the bonneville aside from the mere fact that they are triumphs and 2, forking hilarious! Because I know so many Harley riders who think the same way! Harley has occasionally done a small tweak on a few bikes to improve them but they seem to remain relatively the same. I love Harley's keep in mind... but when I rode a couple of them, the vibration and the power delivery were well... harley. The other American made bike, Indian seemed to have a much smoother power delivery but still keeping the American vibration. But I can think of things I still love about certain models of harley just like triumph. As I stated in your other video "you must have gotten a somewhat defective one..." because while the carbureted engine may be "smoother" the carbureted speedmaster and America didn't seem much different than the fuel injected base Bonnie and previous gen T100 I've ridden. So the jolting seemed confusing to me. Also while the speedmaster and America absorbs the bumps more than the previous gen T100 and base (just because the America and speedmaster are cruisers and the Bonnie series isn't) I wouldn't say the Bonnie's knock the wind out of you. Either the previous air cooled gen or the new liquid cooled gen so I've noticed. So where am I going with this? Well... me being a motorcycle lover i love all bikes. I will narrow it to this case and say that I think both the old and new Bonnie have their awesomeness to them just as all motorcycles, I think, do. The new Bonnie series (which includes the street twin) has more low end umph and much more modern amenities like the ride by wire, assisted slipper clutch, a couple have ABS and traction control, and they still retained the classic look even after dropping the fake carb. But riding an air cooled classic is awesome! I mean I love modern anemedies like fuel gauges and the mentioned above... but riding a cable clutch, cable throttle, air cooled and minimum gauged bike just has a feeling that, to me and a couple friends anyway... brings back the feeling of older bikes. The umph is more on the top end of the rev range so it's not like it's gonna make you feel like you are gonna fly off your seat with rocket acceleration... (get it? Rocket? Because triumph makes a rocket? Huh? Huh? Okay nvm...) but all in all... Britain making its rule of liquid cooled bikes only (right?) triumph listened to their customers and gave the majority what they asked for: low end torque, better brakes (oh and I re tested my theory of the old brakes and stopped the bike much faster than the cars we've owned... but if you have muscle memory from grabbier brakes they might feel a little more on the weak side...) modern amenities, locking fuel tanks yet keeping the same classic look and smooth power delivery triumph is known for!

You're bang on about the Harley comments. There's a wealth of material there to have a go at but honestly, I think if I was to buy one and take the mickey out of them and their owners it wouldn't be very well received. They are a... different crowd of people. But Maybe I'm not giving them enough credit. There's definitely a place in the market for the air cooled Hinckley Bonneville's and they will be around for many, many years. They're good things, but I guess I had a go at them because people were raving about them and ignoring their faults. Underneath it all they're still solid, reliable bikes.

The scrambler...first of al I felt I was sitting on an toilet seat. The throttle is extremely snatchy and raw, and I could never really not do mexican waves because of it. So then the toilet seat made sense, because I was about to shit myself. Shifting up was possible. Shifting down however, was not. Unless I was grinding clutch plates while hammering the gear lever. And even then it was as smooth as a fork in a bucket of rusty bolts. The handling was ok because I was too distracted trying not to kill myself. And it's fast. A bit too fast for the bike or me to manage nicely. But I guess it looks nice and the brakes were nice. Selling will be hard but clearly it has to be done. That bike sure was shitty. Damn I still can't believe how bad it felt.
