Almost READY To Swap in the NasKart’s New ENGINE! Gathering Everything We Need to Do This!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey Guys, Migs Here! In today’s video, I make a run to harbor freight to pick up all the tools and equipment we need to accomplish swapping the engine, out of a 1980 Honda CB750C, into the half scale NASCAR! Also, I evaluate what I can do with the rear axle in order to make the engine fit even better. Thanks for Watching! Please Subscribe, Like, Comment and Tell Your Friends About the Channel!

Use a section from the bike frame. And fabricate it to fit with the existing axle. Dont try to move the axle. Fabricate it all to fit perfectly and keep the right stance. For the car.

You should just drill some holes and lower the axle as much as you can cause you wouldn't have to waste time trying to fab up 2 axle mounts and it will compromise the beauty of the nascar Migs your the best bro just wanted to say that

My welding experience is with a stick welder, may years ago. From what I understand all welding needs a barrier material (It can be gas or a flux) to prevent porosity and weak welds. If your welder uses flux core wire, it is best to keep using flux wire. My research is very limited. Due to the nature of gasless welding, the lincon flux wire is less prone to porosity in the welds. A welder that uses gas tends to be less prone to porosity over gasless.

Ive been stretching frames and building mini bikes for years now. Just cut the tube under the axle bracket and lower it where you want. Then bend some tubing around the bottom of the bracket and back up to the frame to reinforce it. Now that you have a welder you can make things fit. Get some scrap steel and practice welding start with something thicker get decent weld beeds and then start on the tubing. Practice on some scrap tubing after getting your parts cut out before welding then in. Good luck with the project. Its going to be sweet

Miggs, don’t reinvent the wheel, so to speak. The CB750 frame has all the engine mounts on it. Cut the frame sides so you have all the engine mounting points. Measure the width of the engine at the mounts locations. Now cut some wood to be the same width as the engine and bolt the frame sides together. Add a wood piece to approximate the engine height at front mount. Maybe place one of the cut frame sides on the engine to measure the engine drop below the frame. Now you basically have an engine mock-up that weighs nothing and you can move it around and find the right location for the engine. And if you measured the engine width precisely you can weld the bike frame rails where they should be to place the engine where you want it. Your welder buddy may have some ideas on the best way to do that. Dan Theman is right, you will need a smaller axle sprocket to get some speed. Wish I could send you an Excel spread sheet I did detailing RPM, tire, ect. Dang I’m wordy today.... LoL PS: I’d start with a 2-stroke single as a first swap, maybe a 250cc. You’ve got all those bikes you could borrow an engine from, right?

You are going to want to add another bearing on that axle around the chain no matter where you have the axle. As far as the tubes you have the bike the engine came out of cut the frame and weld that to the cart . It would be the easiest way to go about it. Also going to need to figure out a place for the radiator or some ductwork to get air to it as well as a fan. Ideally you would want the engine in front of the axle due to the chain maybe consider moving the firewall and seat up. I'm just making suggestions keep up the work though progress is the best.

Good luck and have fun :) and don’t forget that you can’t use brake cleaner then weld because it creates a deadly gas. And where something so the sparks can’t go into the back of your shirt Because that burns so bad...

Leave the axle where is is, by moving it, you are changing the geometry of the entire cart, possibly causing some fitment or handling issues, not to mention the axle would then be exposed to debris that could bend or damage the components. Also you would have the drive system close to the ground and that could cause issues with the chain.

Drop the axel under the frame it’ll save so much more room an it’ll be worth it in the long run

Drilling the holes would help you but don't put the axle under it will make the steering camber off it will make it want to flip in corner

drop the axle JUST under the frame like 1 inch or less! It will give more space for the engine and you can also get the engine as low as possible for a lower center of gravity. you want it to actually function and not just look cool.

It’ll start looking really weird if you lower that axle too much. even if you adjust the front to match, when you put the shell on the tires will not sit right in the wheel wells. you could put bigger tires on it to reduce that but then you will probably run into clearance issues. I would just leave it how it is and build up a platform around it for the engine to sit on and attach to.

Only thing I recommend is eventually get a gas welder makes much better welds or a stick welder. And get a good helmet I had a cheap one from harbor freight and my eyes hurt after

Don't drop the axle cut the tubing in the middle and make it go around the axle and mount the motor to that
