Tony Chachere's is hard to find outside of Louisiana but you can just us Season All. You can make this dish with just about any white meat. Chicken, frog legs, fish, turtle works too. Some people said they used rattle snake and it was very good.

is that one of the gators that invaded the garden areas that the pastor was talking about in that one vid? and you need your own tv show. your vids are so much better than alot of the crap on tv. great job once again.

Not sure but even if it's not it would probably still be very good cooked this way. Try it and let us know how it comes out :)

Dang that looks good. As a kid I would visit family over in Simmesport, and they would make it and other wonderful Cajun dishes. I grew up down in "da Parish" of St. Bernard and I sure do miss Louisiana!

Dang, your videos and Swamp People are making me want to go to louisiana pretty bad... some day when I have the money I think a trip like that's gonna happen. What do you recommend if an out-of-state noob wants to give a try at gator hunting? Are there guides who take people out or is it too dangerous?

@sethzky77 yea we use it a lot. It's a good hot sauce. Louisiana and Tabasco or the 2 most popular store bought hot sources here.

Thanks for posting this recipe! I made this the other day with an alligator I harvested last season and it came out great even after I screwed up the ingredients. Bought tomato sauce instead of paste. :) I wanted to try something other than fried since I'm on a gluten free diet and this was perfect. I have enjoyed your other informative videos as well. Keep up the good work.

do all parts of the alligator taste the same, or is it like chicken or pork where the different parts all have their own character? I suspect this recipe would be pretty good with chicken, and since I don't have access to any alligator I will probably try it that way. Good job, keep up the good work. I always look forward to your videos.

@m081779 the tail is the best meat but it's not as big of a difference in cuts as chicken is. It is a lot like catfish though, in that some cuts have more fat and the fat taste VERY strong. If you are careful to cut all the fat off it'll be great no mater what cut you get.

@m081779 Yes, I grew up around gators and I have a good respect for them. I like that show but I it's going to end up getting people eaten. It's hard to get across on film just how dangerous and powerful they are.

@catman529outdoors It is too dangerous but for enough money I guess you could get a hunter to take you along with him. All you could really do is sit in the boat though. I Wouldn't recommend it. Gators are bigger, meaner, and stronger then they look on tv. You're just an other meal in their eyes.

You cook it, I'll eat it. Did Ky take that gator ? ... Nice shot-transitions, on the edit (good job!). . So, here is a video production tip. Harbor Freight has 100 Watt Halogen Work Lights that have a spring-clamp mount system ... You could clip one or two of those to the cabinets (shelves), above your cook-top (or counters, etc.) . This production quality is fine, as it is, but if you are gonna do lots of kitchen procedures, more (task) light would be a good thing, for video quality.

Actually already tried the recipe with a big ole' rattler that wondered into our campsite and it was a huge fail. I don't believe in killing anything unless I'm going to eat it (including this creepy critter) but contrary to popular belief--Rattlesnake does not taste like chicken! It taste like an icky snake! I'll see if one of my interent buddies can send me a couple pounds of gator meat though cause I really want to try this recipe again the exact way you made it.
