I appreciate you putting the neighborhood name in the title.

Kenji's teriyaki criteria so far: Prefers Japanese style rice, sticky but not mushy Salad in a separate container, dressing not too sweet. Gyoza: ideally potsticker style with fresh dumplings, but deep fried can also be good if the skins are crispy and not greasy or tough. Sauce- can be any style as long as it's not too sweet. Chicken: thighs, marinaded and grilled fresh, chopped then sauced and served (no chopping then reheating).

All solid criteria. As someone who's eaten more Seattle teriyaki than I could ever hope to tally, those are what I look for.

I used to live a few blocks away from this place and would visit twice a week and head over to the Fremont brewery for a beer and dinner. I NEED to make a trip back!

I've been watching one of these each day while I eat lunch (sadly, no teriyaki - it's definitely a dish I miss from when I lived in Seattle). So it's like having lunch with Kenji every day.

Kenji maxed out all the attachments for his bike.

I don’t live in the US but this is one thing I will always be jealous about. The food culture is amazing. You can eat anything you want I love it. Here in Germany if you don’t live in Berlin you barely get like so much international food

If you're in a large city, yes. In small town America you usually have a few fast food options at best. I'd trade all the McDonald's, Subways, and Taco Bells for a Dönerladen within 500km of me.

@@gabelstapler19 The thing is, if you live in Germany, Döner places are the *only* good/decent places to eat that won't charge you an arm and a leg. Eating out in Central Europe is on a whole other level of bad.

As an American living in Germany (going on 9 years), I wholeheartedly agree. Coming from Chicago, even Munich is a downgrade, though here there are really good options, they're just pricier and not as good on the whole.

I'm in the Tacoma region for work and just had my first Seattle Teriyaki experience at House of Teriyaki, in Tilicum outside of JBLM. It was fantastic.

I noticed too, great work! Lots of little improvements. As the videos have gone on I've kept wondering what your second POV camera is... I guess those are Raybans with cameras in the frame? It looks like they have decent recording quality specs, but the quality of the recording is definitely noticable in the video. Those macro shots are great!!

So glad you went here! Definitely one of my favorites. It's outside of Seattle, but if you're ever up north you should consider trying Ta Joia! in Bothell. No hype, but their spicy chicken along with their cilantro sauce and pico de gallo are all amazing. Maybe not "traditional" teriyaki, but to me it's worth the trip. I've been consistently craving teriyaki every day since you've been uploading these. Keep up the great work!

Our go to was I Luv Teriyaki in Georgetown. The char on their chicken was terrific. Then irony struck and the place burned down. We miss it.

Nice video. Gonna have to stop by here next time I’m in Fremont. Make sure to hit Ichiro Teriyaki in Magnolia Village! I always get their spicy chicken. They are kind of unique in that they have cooked onion served with the Teriyaki

I grew up about an hour north of Seattle, and had few favorite spots as a kid: K’s Teriyaki in Arlington Tokyo Stop Teriyaki in Oak Harbor Teriyaki Point in Smokey Point/Arlington

Can't wait to see more South Seattle locations! I've been interested in trying Buxx Teriyaki, but you'll probably make it there before me. haha

Tbat place is easy to overlook as the streets out front are torn up due to ongoing construction. But that teriyaki looked very good. One to check out next time I pass through the area.

My favorite spot in the city is a hidden one in downtown. It’s in a parking garage, called Community Grocery. Would highly recommend

I'm not a huge Teriyaki guy despite living in Seattle, but Byen Bakeri deserves the shoutout it gets here. It is a nice bakery.

Thank you for moving these videos off IG! Not being able to watch in landscape mode was bugging me. Interested to see your thoughts on Yasuko’s, which was my neighborhood spot when it was on First Hill (now only in Interbay). Had a cabbage slaw/salad instead of lettuce salad.

I've been researching for my Seattle itinerary, I have it as the last stop on my vacation starting in San Francisco. I have time for 1 Teriyaki spot and I think it's going to be this one. All of the top spots are closed on Sunday so I've had to change things around but I'm gonna get that chicken & gyoza combo no matter what.

I hope Teriyaki First on 85th in Greenwood is on your list. They add grilled onions which is a game charger. Plus you can eat it at Chuck's Hop Shop across the street.

You were right by University Teriyaki in the U district at the start of your ride! My old go to spot back in the early 2000s. Not sure if it's the same owners, now it's called University Teriyaki and Bakery.

Yasuko's used to be my go to--haven't been there in years though since they closed the location closest to me. One at 3200 15th Ave W, Seattle

Hey Mr Kenji, you should hit up Tokyo Stop Teriyaki over on the eastside if it's not already on the list - they have the best chicken katsu I've had in the area (no curry), and the best spicy teriyaki, and are a very lovely family joint.

I just know these shop owners talk, and they are running these kitchens like the navy when a guy talking to himself with sunglasses walks in, lol! Also think it would be main channel worthy, when you're done, to drop a compilation of all of these!

Is this location owned by the same people who owned the I ❤ Teriyaki in Georgetown? That one was fantastic and was so bummed when they burnt down. Good to know there’s another place just as good! 👍🏼
