    12 episodes ago, i could not tell what is good or bad teriyaki. But now after 12 episodes, when he opened up that box I said "yeaaahhh that looks like good fresh cut chicken. is that freezer burn on those dumplings?"

    This was my weekly (nearly daily) lunch spot when I worked at the spa in that same strip mall 15 years ago. Their yakisoba was so good! Great to see it’s still holding up! 👍🏼

    Your ability to properly analyze cooking and give helpful criticism is so nice. You continue to be my favorite person in cooking, and that’s reinforced in the most surprising and entertaining ways (like reviewing a dish I’ve never had in a state I’ve never been to)!

    I don't know how many teriyaki places there are in Seattle but I'm hoping 300+. Can't wait until I'm traveling back to the PNW on a routine basis, this channel will definitely be an amazing guide.

    Ahaha, I'm ordering Teriyaki Bowl for my fiancé and I tonight and just happened to check if JKLM had reviewed it yet. Their portioning on katsu is huge for the price. Looking forward to you reviewing Toshio's Teriyaki in Rainier Valley, my absolute fav!

    This is what it means to be human, and I'm so glad for you that you live in an area where you can explore and fully flourish. I, personally, am relegated to my local cemetery for this sort of foliage and scenery, but I'll be damned if that doesn't make it all more impactful ;)

    Completely agree on glass bottled Snapple. Mango madness was my jam. Then they went plastic and it just didn't taste the same.

    I worked for a short time at Shreve, Crump, and Low in Boston. We were not to guide a customer to a “cheaper” selection. We were to look at something “less costly.”

    I'm pretty sure those gyoza are shirakiku ones because I just finished a bag of them. They have the same issue with thin, tough skins that isn't great dry fried. I think one of the past reviews with leathery gyoza was also the same brand.

    One of my favorite teriyaki places was Teriyaki Seven at the intersection of Madison & MLK Jr. Way, but the building was going to be redeveloped and all 3 businesses there were kicked out. I was hoping they might re-open somewhere else near, but haven’t heard anything.

    More inexpensive feels wrong the way a double negative is wrong. It feels like one should just say less expensive. Maybe? I'm no grammar expert. 😂

    Less expensive sounds like you are starting above average and moving towards average. More inexpensive sounds like you are below average and moving further away.

    Some editors may tell you to use "less expensive," but it really depends on what you're trying to convey and why. "Inexpensive" is seen as a positive trait, so "more inexpensive" puts the reader into a positive mindset while "less expensive" puts them in a more neutral to negative mindset. If you want someone to come away from an evaluation with a positive impression, then "more inexpensive" is what you should use.

    Yes exactly this. Saying “less expensive” implies it’s typically an expensive meal. It’s always inexpensive. Some are more inexpensive than others.

    I left Sea-town many years ago for the midwest. I miss the water, the mountains, and the food. The people, with exceptions, are quite shit. Beautiful vistas and quaint neighborhoods, but very unfriendly. People in NYC are nicer.

    Hard to believe before Covid you could get Teriyaki Chicken combo for around $8. Even looking at Teriyaki Bowl pictures online their prices were significantly cheaper just a couple years ago. Overall they are not my favorite place.

    I’m curious as to why you get the gyoza combo when they all are just factory made and frozen. Not saying there’s anything wrong with eating that, they can still be good, but I’m wondering if you’re waiting to see one place that has homemade gyoza

    It's not uncommon to throw in a tip to support small restaurants up here regardless of whether your doing take out or dine in. Obviously you don't have to but I don't mind throwing an extra buck or two if it's a place I frequent.
