legend has it the dog's owner was never seen again. the dog survives off teriyaki donations.

did she ever come back?
I live nearby and this is my main teriyaki takeout place, it used to be soooo good but the owners recently just changed over and the new guys are still figuring a lot of stuff out :/ It's a shame you didn't start this series a month earlier, the lady who used to work the front was seriously the sweetest woman I've ever met

Came here to say pretty much the exact same thing. I loved the old place and was a little underwhelmed when I tried it again last week. Definitely wasn't bad, but hopefully they'll be able to figure it out!

Right, they sold to the owners of the taco stand that's in the parking lot. It's funny because the parking lot has signs that say that if you're getting tacos, you're not allowed to park there. I definitely would say that those signs are no longer valid. The new owners are very nice, but it's quite clear that their expertise is in the realm of tacos, not teriyaki.
At the point where I can’t tell Kenji’s good mmms from his bad mmms.
I love how much lore has developed in this series. Everything from the soda, salad, location, method of transport, freezer burned dumplings etc has a story to tell and we are here for it.

You didnt even mention the most recent development, the minute long ending of Kenji eating wordlessly in the ambiance of the surroundings

all of it building up as we lose the price of each meal. It's what keeps you coming back
Someone else has probably said this but Teriyaki & Wok JUST changed ownership at the start of March so a lot of what you're tasting is really interesting in that light. The "good recipe but a little over cooked" probably ties to the new owners as well as the older grill bit (the old owners, a lovely older couple who knew every regular by name and order, had been there for ~15 years). I'm also biased because this was my neighborhood place for ~4 years so I love it and the old owners a lot.
Look at Kenji multitasking, Teriyaki review and dog sitting at the same time. Looks like he listened to our comments and gave us some mukbang at the end again but this time on purpose.
I like the ending with the ambience of the city and just the shot of you enjoying lunch.
“This looks… as it should.” 😂
Imagine walking your dog and seeing someone looking like a tech-billionaire Casanova filming himself eating a chicken&giyoza combo and then is also nice and willing to watch over your dog... this series is just too good:3
This series has reawakened my love for teriyaki and saddened me greatly because teriyaki shops are rare on the east coast.
The food trailer in that lot, Antojitos Jalisco's, is awesome! I've had some great SoCal-style Mexican food from that place, particularly the carne asada fries and the tripas tacos.

Yeah seriously, I almost think if anyone's gonna come to this teriyaki place to just get a burrito at the truck instead, love that someone else pointed it out haha
Now I've taken a pause from ordering spicy chicken teriyaki and have moved to "chicken and gyoza combo" every time I get teriyaki. I'm also being a lot more critical of the juiciness and char of the chicken and internally taking note of the blisters on the gyoza. I don't know if I can go back now.
The Teriyakinator absolutely will not stop, ever, until he eats all the teriyaki in Seattle.
I feel like this video encapsulated so well my years of living near Broadway
The reckoning with the soda case was great storytelling.
I lived right around the corner from there, that restaurant has been around at least more than 20 years and it's very basic but cheap. He's not kidding about being careful at night but never a dull moment though, I was more worried about stepping on needles.
haha kenji is now leaning into the mukbang ending for the videos. love it. it's really nice watching the series evolve in real time
I like the nervous working looking out the window.at the beginning...
Also the taco truck behind you is amazing!
I'm so happy you're doing this series. I've lived in Seattle for 20 something years now, and I love teriyaki! My favorite is Himitsu Teriyaki in Lake City. So freakin' good!
yay, more quiet lunch with kenji at the end. love it
Gotta hit Yasuko’s on 15th in Interbay, haven’t been in 10 years but I still remember it hitting hard!!!

When the part of your teriyaki menu Kenji likes the most is the salad... 😬
i am in intense anticipation of the teriyaki chicken recipe we get once this is all said and done
A man of the people! He listened to our plea of quiet solitude at the end. 🙏🙏
Kenji is such a mensch! Watching a stranger's dog while doing the serious business of reviewing teriyaki! This series is mesmerizing.

I worked up on the hill for several years and there never was a dull moment. Very entertaining area of Seattle.
I wish I driven to SEA when I visited Vancouver, Canada last time. Good video BTW. I’ve been following you, catching up on your past videos! Good work!
Why am I so committed to watching all 80+ teriyaki videos that he makes? ¯\_( ͠° ͟- °͠ )_/¯
Was hoping for a montage at the end of glances checking in on the dog. 😀
Love this series so much
I used to go to this shop a lot. I always really liked it.
Excellent series Kenji Sir. Really enjoying watching these, even though I live on the East Coast....
I love this series Kenji! I haven't yet been to Seattle, and it's interesting to get a peek at different areas through your lens. Makes me think about doing a similar tour in my area. I'm also enjoying the quiet lunching at the end, today it's with my oatmeal. :)
man, there is so many more out there - cant wait for kenji to hit some spots im familiar with in north seattle
Man this series brings back memories of being a kid, hanging out around Seattle eating teriyaki.
My favorite series right now! I've gotten teriyaki twice since this started
I feel like if they can make rice that well, they can make good teriyaki chicken. Investment opportunity coming Kenji!
Oh I remember Teriyaki&Wok they had a 'Grand Opening' sign in the window for about 10 years.
It took me 17 videos to notice that you are filming on the Rayban sun glasses.
Love what you’re doing! If you ever have ‘Outtakes’ you could do a little reel @ the end. 🤔 My son gifted me your Wok book. Im taking it out of town, to my favorite cooking castle, for the weekend. Gas Viking range… gonna get crazy on it!
I see you decided to keep the just eating part in at the end :D it's quite nice and cozy. When did she come back for the dog?
Commenting until kenji posts his own recipe for Seattle style teriyaki
Most impressive thing here is Kenji biking in terrible bikelines and hilly Seattle like is nothing. Safe travels!
😮 there's a new teriyaki and wok in West Seattle that's great, though that salad and dumplings look better
I love Teriyaki & Wok! My fav teriyaki place on cap hill. I haven't tried it since they changed ownership though
did the lady ever come back for her dog? did i miss that?
this one looks great
That dog would get half my chicken.
Yes. Love the real time changes of adding mukbang at end. Thank you!
The old Baskin Robbins shop!!!
Last weekend I had carnitas tacos at that truck in the parking lot and they were great!
That was a Baskin and Robbin when I lived there.
God damn. If these videos arent my favorite part of the day.
That used to be a Baskin Robbins. Yeah, I'm that old.
My son lives nearby and we would use this place in a pinch. We miss the lady behind the counter. The former owners have a place in Bellevue as well but it's not called T&W.
I think your thumbnail got mixed up with the last one. Or cache issue on my end
I'm only here for the post commentary eating 😂
Very nice
Other food KZreadrs: hmm maybe I'll do a smash burger video this week Kenji: Hmm maybe I'll do a video about this cool crispy garlic potato hash thing I just invented and one about this cheap overlooked cut of ribeye-quality steak that most people aren't aware of and one about the scientific contrast between baking soda and baking powder. And hell, might as well knock out another four full-length reviews in my quest to spotlight one of America's lesser known regional food institutions by hitting every single teriyaki joint in my great city of Seattle.
Teriyaki & Wok does not serve a late night crowd. They close at 8:30pm latest :(
I guess you own a new dog now Kenji! 😂
San-J teriyaki sauce ? You’re take on it 🧐
any good teriyaki places in Olympia?
Hey Kenji! Im not sure if this is on your list, because its hard to find online, but Community Grocery & Teriyaki at 415 Seneca St is hidden gem in my book!
I’ve lived in Seattle since 2006 and have been to this place 3-4 times. I think I kinda agree w/ Kenji in that I find it not bad, but unremarkable…thus the 3-4 times in 17 years, but I DID go back.
My cousin and I used to walk down to Broadway and hit up the Bartel's drugs for our beauty needs and I am guessing another store for a Hello Kitty fix - guessing maybe a hallmark store? I'll have to ask her. The memories :)
Man I miss Seattle.

My Kenji's on Broadway....
I love white rice but those around me refuse to eat it, fried only
hi doggie you're my favorite customer
if i was watching that dog i wouldve sneaked him a little teriyaki chicken. teehee
I always get a bit nervous when people walk by, wondering if they’ll interrupt. 😬
Hey Mr Kenji - i don't aim to be a pest, but could you share your list of spots you're going to go to? I want to suggest Tokyo Stop Teriyaki in Bellevue again but only if it's not already planned 😊

Kenji did you become a parent to a foster dog? Did the lady ever come back?
♏🦂🕵 I stay on capital hill 6 blocks from that teriyaki place. I bought me & my ex gf 2 meals both chicken teriyaki. & the container was smaller in them salad container $25 dollars each. Rip off. But i see they give you the normal large container
your telling me this guy ate all the teriyaki in Seattle
Dog-sitting Every Dog In Seattle
But what happened with the dog?!?
With EES --- Extended eating section
i wish you’d made it in a couple weeks sooner, the place Just changed ownership
Fyi the thumbnail looks like stop 16 for me
It’s a good thing you’re bicycling everywhere to work off all the teriyaki. :)
I don't trust a side salad with more than 5 carrot shreds.
So odd to to me that there are so many teriyaki spots in Seattle, I wonder the history behind it. Being familiar with SoCal, I don't think I've seen a place that specializes in teriyaki above everything else.

Doggo watching, Boob Rice, Teriyaki and wok, this epsoide has everything huh.

hellooooo
I can't tell if this is bookmark worthy or not. Kenji may be getting weary of teriyaki

don't worry folks, this place is a solid 6 blocks north of puke town!
Did you spot the guy some cash or no?
It's so weird he always starts with the salad while the hot food sits exposed.
