This meal cost me $5 a minute. Here’s everything I had.

Sushi by scratch. High end chain sushi restaurant from LA. I went to the Seattle location. I was the only reservation on a Monday night (this was not planned!).

That's the Michelin star experience. You eat luxury to have a gallery of flavor for your tongue as the experience such like going to an art museum but for your tongue not your eyes. Then you go to somewhere cheap after to fill yourself up.

Hey kenji! Just to let you know. I SEE you using all the youtube formats. Youre really using this platform to the fullest and I love it! Its super engaging. The views probably are not as high as the main long form video uploads but I really enjoy all the varied content!

Kenji showing up to your restaurant on a slow Monday is like Bruce Lee stopping in a random Dojo to take some classes and do a review. Something tells me Bruce Lee would be equally as careful as Kenji when wielding their review power.

Looks awesome. The style is what I like from omakase, with the chef experimenting, inventing, showing off, and serving up flavor on an arc. The plain fish should be available a la carte. And the solo experience made me drool, though I also like sushi bars that are jammed and crazy. Oh man. Tomorrow I'm so getting sushi.

I went yesterday! What a coincidence you posted this right after, I clicked on the thumbnail because I recognized the street lol. I had a great time, it was a packed house with all 10? spots filled up. It was a bit more lively because there was multiple conversations happening at once which all came to silence when the chef began to explain the piece. I enjoyed the unique flavors and takes compared to traditional sushi without it being too "crazy". The only thing I didn't enjoy was the tea at the end, and it looks like you left or cut before that haha. Overall it was a great date with my gf and one of my top omakase experiences, which granted hasn't been very many.

Pardon the assumption, but provided I’m correct, as a fellow dad and lover of new/unique food experiences I appreciate you documenting your time dining solo. I live in a city with a great food scene (Nashville) but lack the ability to enjoy it as often with two young kids at home. I need to do more solo dining!

Great review, sounds like something up my alley. As someone who grew up on south Asian cooking I’m always looking for blasts of flavour. While I can appreciate subtlety amazing ingredients, I’m always craving that punch.

I've been to their LA location and agree with what you said. I much prefer their sister restaurant, Pasta | Bar. Same style (chef's counter seating) great food. (and the sourdough is amazing)

@@habibieats Yes, how did we get there? I cooked in fancy restaurant kitchens ... it's just another trick trying to get people to pay more for food. Like all the imported incredients ... so boring 10 restaurants fighting for the same product, just to justify their price. Why don't you justify the price by delivering food that tastes like the 300$+ you are trying to charge for the menu?!
