As someone who lived in Seattle for 32 years but had to move away for work... It was surprisingly soothing to just "sit in Gasworks park," hear the wind and patter of rain, as well as the birds and the seaplane fly over... I'd absolutely co-sign this quiet lunch with Kenji vibe! 😁

As I sit in an exercise bike looking at the sound, thinking of where to get teriyaki for lunch, perfect end!

Today we learned two things: 1) Kenji is a partner in a coffee shop somewhere and 2) Kenji goes to Gas Works Park at night and beats up Seattle mobsters.

I have to admit. It's kind of nice to see you just enjoying the meal Kenji.

I loved that last 3 mins, felt like I was having lunch with Kenji

That's Lake Union just north of downtown Seattle. Gas Works is actually a nice park in person.

i was watching this while having my morning coffee, and the bit at the end really felt like we're just having a great quite morning together. oddly comforting.

You are truly living the Seattle dream. I am captivated by this series.

Looks great. I like Fremont bowl is confident in their chicken's tastiness to present it sauce free. The seaplanes taking off in the background was a nice atmospheric touch.

The eating segment at the end is calming. There's a shop in Georgetown called Dotunburi Station that's run by the same people as Fremont Bowl and has a similar menu, so you could conceivably assemble a teriyaki meal there.

Loving the teriyaki series Kenji. I work not too far from Gas Works Park, and eat lunch in the park in the summer. Love the views. Never tried Fremont Bowl, might have to now. Also your appearance on the ATK video on YT yesterday was great too. Keep up the great videos.

Love that little stretch of Fremont! Used to live right around the corner. Lupo is the best, and Fremont Bowl, Uneeda Burger, and Rockcreek are all good places to go.

Finally my old neighborhood shop. I like Fremont bowl’s teriyaki and katsu.

We love Fremont Bowl! We get their sake don almost weekly.

Awesome. I go to their sister restaurant Donburi Station in Georgetown a ton. Great food.

As Kenji points out, donburi is their main fare. The chirashi bowl is the best thing on the menu imo.

I am curious about a couple things with the dumplings. 1st: With so many shops in the area, i got to imagine that a lot of them are buying the same frozen dumplings from the same large food distributors. Where is all of the difference coming from? Just the cooking method and sauce? 2nd: It surprises me to hear again that these were freezer burnt, because i can't imagine the restaurant itself is keeping dumpings for that long in the freezer, does this come from a manufacturer issue in packaging?

Kenji not closing the lid on the dumpling sauce is really stressing me out

Fremont bowl has some pretty great chirashi bowls, their tonkatsu donburi is also a solid standard.

Please create another series where you try all the best chirashi bowls in Seattle. That's honestly the best thing at Fremont bowl by far. Minamoto also has a nice one

Growing up in Seattle and eating Teryaki almost weekly for much of my life, I need a little better glaze or marinade on my chicken. I also like a little more char, which is stronger when they marinate the meat.

Oh with the UCC coffee too? this IS a traditional japanese place!

Not gonna lie, felt a weird with Mr. Lopez-alt enjoying his lunch and just watching him eat... I felt like a creepy dude sneaking around! It's best when Kenji is teaching or talking about the food! Education is Everything!

Not really. Even if they do there’s only so much you can do to change a single meal in an operation like this. I don’t worry that I’ll be getting food that’s any different than anyone else’s especially because I pay attention to the shop and what other folks are eating and ordering.
