"Video games that teach kids how to rape and kill" Sorry Akala but I don't agree with that, you can't blame video games for that at all. If a child or person wants to commit some form of violence or crime, they're going to do that regardless of if they're playing a video game or not. If you're gonna say video games influence bad behavior then you'd have to mention TV, movies, music videos, friendship groups and so on...

I would say it's more to do with your parents and your piers. Environment too, but only to a point. There are children who have grown up in the worst areas, yet go on to become successful. If your parents do not give a shit, and you go on to mix with the wrong crowd, that is more dangerous, and destructive than any video game can ever be. Its like saying every guy that watches porn goes on to become a pervert.

You're reading into something too much here, he's not putting blame on it. Regardless of whether violent video games raise the potential of real world violence (shouldn't even be talked about until a credible and tightly controlled study over a suitable length has been carried out) it is an outlet than can and does teach kids about rape and murder. You can't deny it - its an observational truth. If you have no preconception of rape or murder and then played GTA for x amount of time, you'll become aware of those actions and their existence and essentially you've learnt it. The whole influence on real world motives is dependent on individual, intelligence, environment and fuck load of other variables. Short point: Yeah, video games have the potential to cause bad behaviour, as long as other boxes are ticked too. Harmony, balance and all that shit. (btw, I'm the sorta guy who still finds it jokes to bang a prossy on GTA, dead her then take back my p)

in case you do not know, a kid for the us watched halloween (the movie) one night and decided to kill his sister and mom because he wanted to know what it felt like. You may say that is one exception but isn't one exception enough? isn't it enough to show the world how much these movies or in this sense video games have great impact in this society. think about it, reefer madness, that movie alone twisted the minds of people and made them think weed was a drug that was horrible, that it was dangerous. propaganda via media is a scary thing

This is a very talented, intellengent, socially aware and conscious young man. This is was rap was about in my day, The KRS ones, Public Enemy's even Tupac's along with the fun rappers gave hip hop a balance and made young black proud of themselves to the point that mainstream wanted to immulate the culture and distort it to what it is now. Empty nose which glorifies money, sex and violence which us reflected on a lot if the values of our youth. Can you imagine if a KRS one or Akala had the level of attention and success that someone like Jay Z or P Diddy have. The younger generation would be in such a different place, a more progressive and harmonious place than we are now. The rnb and hip hop industry would not be in the place it is now. Because they wouldn't have sold the culture out for their own gain but would have allowed the devil mentioned and growth of real talent to influence the mainstream not distort it.

I know he does not want to be a role model but my god he's an inspiration to us all. We all know deep down the truth is powerful and the feeling of being awaken is unbelievable. Its an explosion of thoughts, shock and confusion that blow your mind. The saying "the truth hurts" is a true statement, it represents the feelings as described above. Thats why we are lied to every day in some way or another. This is why love is so important in our lives, love unites while hate seperates! Big up Akala.

What he says about the blame towards rap for any illegal action a black man takes is spot on, but it's not just restricted to rap. Look at what happened in Columbine; two white kids shoot up a school and take their own lives, there's no monetary issues, both came from middle class, they don't belong to an ethnic minority, so that's not an issue, both of them were brought up in families where the parents were still together, so no blaming a bad upbringing. Where is your next logical step for blame? Personally I would've investigated the relationships the boys had with the people at school, both students and teachers, and would've found that they were chronically bullied by students and teachers alike. Where did the investigators look? In the fucking hifi, where they found a Marilyn Manson CD, so naturally they blame the music because it exist outside of the white, middle class perfect utopia. Sorry if this isn't very coherent, rants tend to be that way.

His message is so much more positive than what you're making it out to be; he is trying to encourage under-privaliged youths, regardless of race, to view intelligence as 'sexy' so that they can access tools to better their lives and not be a slave to a system. It is not "anti white sentiment", it is anti submission, and anti inequality.

Thing is, knowledge of the root of all the insanity you articulately speak of Akala... IS power, is self knowing. Knowing how you became who you are today better, involves knowing your history, and that involves getting to the core of ''global agendas'' and ''looking for triangles in music videos'' may be a starter, it does get old ONCE you've got the jist... but blowing off the importance of grasping the wider concept... is simply due to how ready you are to deal with knowing MORE. :) Remember, ALL of those FACTS you read in all those history books were written by HUMANS. Humans who... learned it from OTHER humans. All of that 'factual' Investigation goes as far as gossip, and chinese whispers through out history. The ONLY truth and power and REAL KNOWLEDGE you'll find is, in YOUR INTERNAL self, and ALL of this, emphasised the last sentence contributes to EMPOWERING YOU to thrive in practical daily life. It's only a distraction when you're first introduced to it, and that makes perfect sense, but eventually... it's the only path to follow.
