    I heard that..... SF wants mature, humble, intelligent, and articulate people to become part of their nucleus. They are sons, brothers, fathers, and husbands. They are family men who love their wives and children. These men always set their standards high and are never content with anything less than perfection. Everything they do is for the men on their left and right. These men, who are family, will do everything within their power to return one another home to their families. They will never disgrace our country, our flag, or one another. Or so I heard.

    He needs to lose 100lbs, do a lot of calisthenics, body weight training NOT lifting, for the exception of compound lifting. Run marathons, triathlons, loooots of pool con training, easily be able to wipe out the PAST test. Also on top of that have the mental toughness required to not only make it through, but to enjoy every minute of it. Someone who would do it all over again because it's all they want. There's no room for self doubt or quitting. You have to have the mindset you'd rather die than give up.

    When i was in the Infantry, we had this one sergeant who tried out for special forces THREE FCKIN TIMES ! All 3 of those times he fell out because of injuries. With that in mind , this guy had THE BEST physique in our entire company (about little over 100 guys at that time). He would go on a 10 mile run with his gear on and bricks in his pockets , and he'd come back with barely any sweat, and without any need to catch his breath whatshowever... Civilians who tell me they're joining the army as a SF operator, i don't even bother talking to anymore. They have not the slightest clue of just how fuckin INSANE that job is. Not to mention all the civis who are jacked as fuck, thinking they could easily pass for special forces cause they believe they got great physique... Special forces dudes are actually more then often skinny guys. They don't have the time to focus on muscle mass and hey burn off too much nutrition for their bodies to get buff. On top of that you have to keep in mind that the more meat you're packin' , the more meat you're humpin around aswell.... We had this model lookin kid in my platoon who took all kinds of suplements (fish oil pills, creatine, whey, pre workout, ...), only to get bullied by the entire platoon because he would "fall out" in the field from either being mentally weak or having muscle injuries...

    Kolashov There are books written to help you get in shape for selection but no matter how much you train, the course is made to break you. Then its all mental. If you even ask yourself, "what if I fail?" then you will fail. it sucks that your Sergeant didn't get selected due to injuries. I'm sure he would've made it otherwise.

    Good Advice, any soldier interested in Special Forces just stop by your SF recruiters office on post, they always need people regardless of what your unit says. Also, you do not need a Top Secret clearance, like the guy in the video said. It is great info though and most was completely accurate.

Good luck kids.

    Just a future soldier chiming in: I'm not in Special Forces, I'm not even in the Army, (currently in DEP if you're wondering) and all I've been talking to is veterans, recruiters, and active duty soldiers in MEPS from different parts of the Army about US Army day to day and their experiences. So this is me relaying what Army Soldiers had to say about 18X, RASP, SFAS, Q Course, SOCM, etc. etc. etc.: Green Berets and the 75th Rangers are not just the best of the best in shooting or the fittest people that march everyday with 100 lb. rucksacks for 8-10 miles. Athleticism and Intelligence have a lot to do with becoming Special Forces or surviving RASP, but its really all about your Team and the Dedication to Exceed. SOB is right when he says, GET WORKING NOW! Be prepared to work with the Best and give them your 100% everyday because they're life depends on you, and vice versa. A really basic thing (and I mean super basic) to start thinking about, just to get yourself in the right mindset, is doing and solving things on your own. If you're at work and you had someone get your coffee for you every morning, GET IT YOURSELF, better yet MAKE IT YOURSELF. If you live with your parents, MAKE PLANS TO MOVE OUT and STAY OUT. If you're already in the Army start thinking about what YOU CAN DO to make the company more efficient. BECOME SELF RELIANT!!!! So that your would-be team knows, "I can depend on that dude not to fuck up or slow me down." Being physically fit and educated is half the battle; you gotta be able think and move when you're completely exhausted, you have to be prepared at a moment's notice at all times, you have to see danger as a problem that has to be solved now rather than later. After me saying all that, you better be thinking, "Okay, that's the bare minimum." Special Forces and the 75th Rangers is not about what you see in Video Games or Movies. They are out there not to glorify their deeds or look Tacti-cool for the sake of looking Cool as Fuck. These are guys that wake up with a mission, in 1 brief know all there is to know about how to get that mission accomplished and to have 5 other plans already choreographed in their heads if things go south. If you're terrified about what I had to say, or what SOB has had to say, or anyone else chiming in has had to say, you better learn how to use that fear to get your ass in to gear. Otherwise, don't even think about 18X or RASP.

    Is this advice for green berets or 75th regiment? I know they are both considered SF but an 18xray contract seems a lot different then a ranger contract because I want to be a 75th ranger. I know they are both extremely tough,mentally and physically.

  • @amcaster239

    @amcaster239

    8 жыл бұрын

    No, they are not both considered Special Forces. They are both Special Operations. Special Forces is an entity of Special Operations, (as are the Rangers). If you want to be a Ranger (aka a part of the 75th Ranger Regiment) it is possible to get it in your contract. As of late, ,it's kind of tough though. Your best bet is to join 11B (infantry) and get Airborne in your contract. Go to your unit and volunteer for the 75th after you know what the hell you're doing. Score 300's on your PT tests, master land navigation, and be able to run 5 miles in 40 minutes. Minus going to the 75th, you may also attend Ranger school while in the infantry and get tabbed (remaining in your infantry unit); remember though, just going to the school and getting a tab does not make you a Ranger. You must be in the 75th to be a Ranger. As for joining Slecial Forces, you can follow the same route. Or, you can join right off the street under an 18x contract. To be honest, unless you were a high school athlete, in great shape, and did well in school I wouldn't do it. If you haven't done extensive research I wouldn't try off the street either. You're setting yourself up for failure. Google the Army "APFT" chart and look what it takes to get a perfect score (a 300) for the youngest age group. As soon as you can get a 300 at home, come back to figure out what route to take. Until then, work out, read up on the Army, and get mentally prepared .

    It depends on how much Ink you have visible on your body. If a rercuiter told you that well you just cant join because of it. But if this was by a civilian. You should go to the recruiters office and have them measure out you tats . Because there are standards and percentages on the tattoo regulations. So the best way to find out is by a recruiter. Every branch has its own Tattoo Regulations also. Best of success on that note.

    12-15 mile hikes with 55 lbs in a bag pack. get some good hiking boots. Make sure to finish in 4-5 hours. 4 hours for 12 mile hike, 5 hours for 15 miles. a lot of running. 5 miles within 45 mins. active training with smart nutrition and rest times. This is a lifestyle, only the best gets in. Do really great in all your subjects in high school, get the best scores, study as much as you can. Do well especially in English and Math. Special Forces only picks the smartest and brightest and toughest. Also practice on not being a dick and be friendly to everyone. Those are the traits their looking for.

    talk to your recruiter, you might need at least 15 college credits. 15 college credits ain't much but it might be a requirement. Other than that, ASVAB Premier 2017-2018 with 6 Practice Tests: Online + Book + Videos [Book]. The ones with the practice test usually are useful because it helps you actually look at a test.

    This article makes sense to me. I don't want to commit my time and hard work into something with a shitty, greedy personal mindset. I want to go through SOF selection for the right reason. This article gives great examples of why someone shouldn't join SOF (admittedly, the 1st one was mine...... gonna need some personal work on that one). Here's the article. taskandpurpose.com/9-misguided-reasons-go-special-operations-forces-selection/ Jason, what is the right reason someone should attempt SOF selection?

    Matthew Berg, he sounds like a guy who haven’t been to any leadership school because of the mentality he has! Definitely SF is the most hard and enduring thing in military training, but someone can make it by thinking exactly the opposite way to how this guy thinks! Someone us to believe in himself and works hard for it! If someone goes there just to look “badass” or with cockiness, he’ll definitely won’t be able to reach nowhere!

    Their not looking for the body builders, they are looking for the non quitters. Theirs only a few people who could go through those intense selection course and not be really broken by the physical shit. But I doubt that’s you and Ik im not there yet. But one thing I do know is you don’t quit because u can be that football player or that track star but u soon will reach fatigue but that 140 lb guy is the one not quitting and still trying while the football player quit when he couldn’t do no more.

    So you believe the lies your Government has been feeding you. American Military is made up of Super Men, not even a speeding bullet can harm them. Korea you did not win it was a tie. Vietnam you lost. Cuba YOU lost again at the Bay of Pigs. Somalia lost again. Iraq did not win. Afghanistan did not win. Not a great track record at all. So please be free to dream that you may fly with out a air plane. Never feer my good people Underdog is here to save the day.
