Im 5'5 and retired army 20 years in. The biggest advantage with being short is I got to be in the very back of a formal ceremonial formation lol (if your taller then the Soldier in front of you step forward) lo. The only thing I hate about being short is that all women I ever met would never dated me specifically for my height and they even flat out say that.

Short people have benefits in the acutall war. They have a smaller hitbox and are easier to carry. Also they can use cover more effectivly because they're smaller. They need less food. Short people usually sprint faster in very short burst 50m-75m, and they're reaction time is faster due to shorter time a nerve needs to travel to the arm.

He said during friday at the end of the school, "Bye for now, I'm going to Italy this weekend to ride my motorcycle and later next weekend I'm going to Canada for the ceremony the canadians are honoring me".

Being too short can prevent you from being allowed to be a pilot in the military. Being too tall can have the same effect. That's not unreasonable though. Multi-million dollar vehicles can't realistically be customized for people at the extreme ends of the height spectrum. Back in college, I considered joining the military. I knew that the vast majority of people who want to become military pilots don't get to do that, but when I found out that there was zero chance of me becoming a pilot due to my height, that became the deciding factor. I'm 5'3", but I knew a guy that was an inch or two shorter than me that went to the first war in Iraq and was awarded a Silver Star for taking out a tank with a grenade. I'm sure he got plenty of respect. In Vietnam it was often the short guys that got to be tunnel rats (not all tunnel rats were short). In WW2, short guys were preferred for ball turrets on bombers because it was such a cramped space. But if anyone ever tries to put down a soldier for being short as somehow not being an effective fighting man, just take a look at the Gurkha soldiers. They are typically just slightly over five feet tall and are extremely effective soldiers. They are highly respected by virtually every military person who interacts with them. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1393355/Hero-Gurkha-handed-bravery-medal-Queen-said-I-thought-I-going-die--I-tried-kill-I-could.html In the link above, Queen Elizabeth, who is 5'4" is awarding a medal to a Gurkha. It looks like if she were standing up straight without high heels on and on the same level as the Gurkha, that they'd be about the same height.

I was in the infantry, standing short at 5'4 and i can tell you the folowing about my own experience : - Running : i'd finish battalion runs like 8th or 12th out of about 500 dudes. - Speed marching : i'd finish platoon marches about 30th out of 40 dudes. (my map skills weren't that great though...) In field exercises, I had a hard time being point man (first guy in the patrol) because in high grass i would often not see much at all (wich is bad considering the point man looks to the front of the patrol and gives the information he sees back to the squad leader). However, when they changed me to SAW gunner (machine gun), i excelled at what i did because i could hump a shit ton of 5.56 ammo belts because of my strength and stamina, without getting pain in my back or knees because my bones are so short & robust lol So sort of like Yamamoto already said in the video : Even though height has its pros and its cons, It doesn't realy matter how tall you are, the army will put you where you function best.

  • @Kolashov

In America 5' 11'' is average at best, 6 foot through 6 foot 3 is tall average. so you say your tall but you're not. unless your in asia then you'd be freakin tall i'm guessing. and in sudan you are incredibly short, people over there are 6'6'' to 7'8'' almost.
