My sister is a dev. We've been cat and mouse since a very young age and she was the one who brought up the idea for me to become a QA. We learned in the course that DEVs and QAs don't get along very well due to differences in approaching and dislike to criticism. And immediately I went: OH! So that's why she thought this job would fit me perfectly.

Hey Madeline, thanks for posting this video. I’m actually familiar with some code but definitely NOT with testing; I’m typically ok with asking questions but since I just started at QA, I found that I’ve frozen up and avoided asking questions, mostly because asking Senior QA or Devs is a bit intimidating. After watching your video, it sounds normal so I’m ready to break free! Thank you for giving me some courage lol.

I have heard from managers that one of the most important qualities they are looking for when interviewing candidates is that they are detail-oriented, so any past experience where you can highlight this quality would be helpful in your resume/interviews. My job did also require a bachelor's degree, but it didn't have to be in any particular field. Finding connections is probably the quickest way to getting hired! Best of luck to you!!

Thanks so much for your video. I am self-training for a QA career with QA videos on KZread, Udemy, QA tool websites, Katalon eduction videos, learning codeless automation tools, and anything I can find. How do I show that on a resume for a QA Analyst job? Do I write a cover letter with my QA job desire and that I've self-trained? Thanks.

Hello Hunter, I'm not Madeleine 😅😅 but I think you would be okay just listing the things you have learned in the Objective or skills portions of your resume. If you get any certs after learning the materials, that might help too. Especially if you don't yet have on the job experience. Utilize LinkedIn too. Wish you the best.

Hey Sanan, you CAN do things like a basic fundamentals course and that can go a long way in an interview. I teach with Nucamp and I can confirm it's basics. I can say if you grasp the main concepts there, you can learn all you need for Manual QA, but I'd encourage you to pick up the JavaScript pathway on Pluralsight and learn Node.js.

@@abooktolisten2773 you can always apply. Revature is tricky though because they can just try to shove you into whatever training class they have coming up. The only issue with these companies I listed is that they will want you to sign a contract to work for them for some period for less pay. But they can help you get your foot in the doors. Obviously they prefer new graduates but if you have any recent bootcamps education or online classes, they will take you too
