Accepting Your Unhappiness to Be Happy | Eckhart Tolle

It can be hard to accept your unhappiness (or, as the Buddha calls it, suffering) and not resist the present moment. Fortunately, when you accept this moment as it is, unhappiness does not last long in you.

Everyone has a pain-body, but some versions of it can be more difficult to investigate than others. Do you recognize the experiential qualities that trigger your particular pain-body? When it asserts itself, have you been able to observe the pain-body even as it takes hold of your thoughts? Have you ever been able to interrupt and dissolve the pain-body before it grips you? What techniques did you use to do so?

Feeling accused of something I haven't done instantly hurts me. The problem is that I think that they are accusing me, most of the time it is not true. I feel it as an injustice.😠😂 But I learned to remain silent immediately after I heard this alleged accusation better to say that I feel AS such 😥I remain silent and calmly answer and explain what my real intentions were. It is an immense liberation for me and yes now I can almost always figure out when I have to stop, but I'm almost afraid to say it because the days are constant challenges.🤐😳😵🤢 But now I KNOW and that's the huge difference! It's like stepping out of a shell and finally feeling free🥰. Not that I am under the illusion of always being PRESENT but this is what my heart would like....❤️ As far as I am concerned, it was the teachings of Eckart Tolle that revealed to me what I always was looking for 🙏✨🌟❤️ Am I just at the beginning? Perhaps, however, time doesn't exist we know it! Eternally GRATEFUL 💓🙏

@@veraintuizione6497 can I ask if somehow you feel you are sufocating the anger when you are calmly explaining yourself? The reason I ask is because my pain body is activated in similar situations and although I know that's not really me and can remain calm on the surface, if I dig deeper many times I find I'm repressing anger

You don't control your thoughts. Thus you don't know what you're going to think of next. No one ever does. Even if it's the most logical thing that you think of next...you still didn't choose it. You just thought it. And therein lies hope. Because all we're really chasing is the feeling of "Ahh, yes, this IS all worth it, after all." And a myriad of thoughts and feelings arise without our control. Therefore the feeling you're seeking (non-hopelessness) could be here, in this next moment. Isn't that exciting? You're not in control. Thus you COULD feel better in no time. You have before. You're not even in control to stop it. It's ALWAYS been that way, and you still made it this far, thinking you're in control, when really you aren't. At all. And thus you don't know what's gonna happen next. It's a complete surprise. And then life becomes insanely interesting.

Dear Mr. EcKhart Tolle, I am, so, grateful for you. Thank you, so much, for your tremendous teachings. ❤ Today, while I was in line to check out my groceries with the cashier, a person in front of me was having a few set backs due to either the cash register or her credit card. I was not bothered by the wait. In fact, I simply did what you taught me. I took in a breath and looked around. I focused on sound around me. Then the manager came to assist; she mentioned that she was outside smoking, and then I could actually smell cigarette smoke. I looked at the candy and gum rack in front of me and touched one of the plastic bottles of gum and could smell the gum. My senses seemed to be more alert. Everyone thanked me for my patience. I said it was nothing because I enjoyed using my senses in the moment. I practiced being in the now. What an excellent feeling. I’ve been practicing it while driving too. What a FANTASTIC difference. Thank you, Mr. Tolle.❤

Thank you, Eckhart, for continuing to put your message out there all these years after the publishing of “The Power of Now”. I imagine your outer form is tired from all this and probably could use some quality rest, but thank you for continuing to reach out to everyone struggling with pain. My battles are largely with first world problems, and I haven’t quite crossed the line from trying to understand being present to just living it, but I’m so grateful that you haven’t given up trying to coax all of us silly turtles out of our shells.

I was in a moment of deep sadness and feeling extremely overwhelmed when I turned this on and I followed your wisdom just as you were saying it, only to about 3 minutes in, and exactly what you said would happen had already happened... just that fast! "Unhappiness and acceptance cannot coexist". I literally felt that at the most visceral level when I accepted my unhappiness. Even the way you describe it creeping back in I can feel it but as soon as I acknowledge and accept it, I can almost feel it running away ! Bravo for such a perfect description . And literally what I needed in this moment! Been listening and reading your material for years and, well, thank you VERY GRATEFUL. 🌠

Listening to Eckhart is like pressing an internal reset button. I have an evil temper when it manifests, to stay fully aware, has, is, helping so much. After returning home, the daily follies, stresses, and egoic episodes of daily life are mostly trivial on reflection. I make a cup of tea and listen intently to my children's accounts of their day and what new wonder has caught their attention, I'm fully present and realise I'm blessed in this life. I have along way to go yet but Eckharts teachings always bring me back to sanity when I forget the present moment is all we have.🙏

I have ADHD and always considered myself a positive person, I took meds but was in personal denial of research recommending CBT and other therapies & counseling which may have helped me with my inner patterns of negative self talk and self blame and shame and self esteem issues that inevitably come with an “invisible” disorder such as this. My nervous system is now a hot mess of CPTSD and I’m learning there is a huge percentage of those with adult ADULT ADHD and especially women ..who end up with complex PTSD, autoimmune disorders and stress related health issues. For women, hormonal changes amplify ADHD symptoms as well. Just sharing to bring awareness. But remember our bodies are also capable of great healing and I wish this for all.

I have a sad, despairing, forlorn pain body triggered by social interactions in groups and with individuals. I was a sad child because I felt tamped down by my family but it really got strong due to a teenage trauma. I have recently identified it as a pain body. So I have been able to dissolve it after it has taken hold of me by saying that's the pain body and staring at it as you recommend in one of your talks. I have caught it pretty early a few times too. I've had success with relax and release in the past week. Today I asked myself who is feeling this? Who is seeing this? After maybe 10 repetitions I knew I was in my conscious self because I could feel the despair more distantly, but still strong. Stayed, stayed, stayed. Somehow I started smiling and became ecstatic.

Hi, have been very well as of the last few years regardless of the craziness, recently I fell down some steps and landed very awkwardly, wich injured my right shoulder very badly, a few days prior to that I had been let go from a job I thought that I desired to preform... I took the job loss in stride, and had secured another just prior to falling down the stairs... The physical injury is really difficult to deal with... If you pray please consider sending me your thoughts for healing 🙏, thx!

The pain and dissatisfaction is like waves that keep pounding my shores. Just as i accepted it and thought it was gone it comes again. Sigh. I will keep accepting or keep changing my mindset until the trigger can no longer trigger.
