I'm 62 and still have a 6 pack the only exercises I use to maintain it nowadays is the ab wheel which seems to work just fine, I do plenty of exercise , aqua arobics, walking, light weight training, I had hernia op some years ago and couldn't do ab wheel exercise for a couple of months, when I started performing them again I soon found out how well they hit the abs, I was sore from groin to lower ribs, performing them with a barbell can push them a bit further if that's what you want

To progress with the ab wheel 1st learn how to do a plank correctly. 3 ways to start training with the wheel. 1 On a wall. Stand an arms length away and roll up and down. It may mark the walk so be careful 2 On an incline ramp or board. Kneeling plank position, ab roller on the incline. Roll out gradually untill you feel a strain on your abs. Increase day by day until you can stretch out to almost flat. 3 On the floor. Kneeling plank position, ab wheel directly beneath your shoulders. Roll out in small increments until you feel the stress. Progress day by day until you are almost flat. Be patient! This is a difficult exercise but in a few weeks you'll see the progress.

I just purchased the ab wheel yesterday. Question about how to use it. When you roll out are you supposed to feel all of the stretching in your arms and shoulders and back? I basically felt it everywhere around there but not really the abs. Very mildly did I feel it there.

  • @Criticalbench

pepsi666 Thanks for the question. With AAA first you want to talk with a doc to find out the level of your AAA. If it's minor then doing light to moderate exercise won't affect this. Now if it's more severe then it's crucial to only do low impact / low intensity exercise in order to keep blood pressure low. Best is to talk with your doctor and go from there. -Coach Brian.
