8 BENEFITS OF BEING A HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON | HSP Part 3

8 Benefits of being a highly sensitive person | HSP Part 3. Get ready to feel the love today! I share 8 reasons why being highly sensitive ROCKS. I actually had to narrow them down for this video, because it would have become too long otherwise. When you really think about it, being a highly senstive person can be an amazing gift.
I am still learning to embrace my sensitivity, instead of hiding it away and crossing my own boundaries. It’s easy to talk down to ourselves, to focus on the negatives. Sometimes we feel that as a highly sensitive person, we are almost doomed to struggle. We think why can’t i be like other people, why are things so difficult for me sometimes. We can even start to dislike our sensitive nature, which means disliking a big part of who we are. And these thoughts don’t make us feel very good.
But our sensitivity can also be a huge blessing. And in this video I want us to talk about our sensitivity from this point of view, of all the benefits it has for us. If you want to share your story please go ahead in the comments section below.
Thank you always and with lots of love,
♥ Vera

I love this series, it fits me perfectly and makes me feel less ‘strange’ 😁. I tend to go over things in my head that have already happened and wish I hadn’t said something that I blurted out, or that I had said something I forced myself to keep quiet about. I seem to fluctuate between extremes of saying things out loud with no filter, or deliberately keeping quiet because I don’t want the aggravation. I’m useless at small talk and sometimes just want to tell someone who’s talking rubbish to shut up, but of course don’t because I wouldn’t be so rude. Small talk is an absolute torture for me which means that I tend to avoid people if I can, but when I meet up with like-minded people and can have a good conversation I thrive. Thank you for such great content Vera 💐

I can relate to the extremes of no filter vs. no speaking at all and the self recrimination at both. Not sure if that's a HSP trait or something else though.

Simple Happy Zen You're kidding, right?........So, what the other alys said is common for HSP's? Holy S_it! I was just thinking that same freaking thing!.... That I wished I would put a lid on it sometimes. What's real weird is I was never like this before, and I'm 50! Huh,......weird.

I always thought I was damaged, and that was why the sensitivity was there. I am learning differently. Loud sounds would make me crazy. I had to take the attitude of dog barking and decide it was ok, as to change my mind about it. That was my salvation.

I'm just getting around to this playlist on HSP's -- thank you, Vera :) I am finding more community and reassurance in my HSP traits. I am a pet sitter who works with various types of pets in different settings (dog park, homes, neighborhoods, etc.), and this can be very personal for pet owners. Being an HSP has helped me thrive in this type of occupation to appease pet parents and troubleshoot as necessary. I do believe there is a right place for every HSP.

That's a trait of many HSPs/Empaths. Since we absorb other people's emotions so much more, we tend to attract people who need to get rid of their bad emotions. (Good for therapists, bad for every other profession :) )It's good to empathize with other people, but you also have to find a way to protect yourself from absorbing too much. There's a ton of empath videos here on KZread that have helped me so much. Best of luck!

A great video Vera. I always appreciate how you frame and reframe differences from frailties to strengths. Never judgmental towards others or ourselves. You have a unique talent for expressing appreciation for and valuing differences. Your talent shows up in your disclaimers and throughout you videos. I had a sweet little chuckle and a nod of empathy as you attempted “consciousness”. Keeping this little blooper in your video added authenticity to your message. Keep doing what you love as your channel grows and I will keep sharing with my network.

On a completely different note, I noticed that you have changed a lot of your thumbnails recently. I find them very similar to two of the recent thumbnails of another channel I follow. Just wanted to mention it since I personally think it would be good to create a unique style that is your own to differentiate your channel from other similar channels. Much love, Cassie

Hi there! I'm glad you like the series :) And thanks for your comment about the thumbnails. I did recently change them, because I felt my thumbnails were very different from each other, not 'branded' as mine, so people could not recognize them as my channel's videos in their suggested or home feed. Which is why I wanted to make them more similar to each other so people could instantly recognize them as being from Simple Happy Zen. I experimented a lot and ultimately chose this design, also after consulting with some friends. So it's definitely my own design. But, could you let me know which channel you found similar looking? Because of course I want them to be unique. Thanks a bunch, have a great day!

🙋🏽 Vera, I also subscribe to Joanna Kujath. I’m a mixture - introvert, empath & hsp. Since I was a teen, I have had this sense that I do not belong to this world. Through the years I have had this thought & yearning “to go home”. Kids in school called me weird when I spoke like this. I stopped sharing this with people. In my early 20’s, I would purposely & randomly stand in a crowd. I got the same sense. It was like I was standing on the outside instead, watching people laughing & talking. You ever felt this way?

Hi Naz. Thanks for sharing your story. Yes haha, I can relate. Kids called me weird (they still do haha) but always in kind of a loving way thankfully. I also felt this way sometimes, from the outside looking in, and I had such an active imagination that I did so many weird things, like actually believing I was flying to and from school. I still remember it that way haha. Anyway, I'm sure you know by now that these things are great, they make you uniquely you. Of course you can always talk to someone about it (I really liked visiting a coach for a while), but I think it's also kind of great. Have a lovely rest of your day!!

Thanks for sharing A Regular Roblox Player! I read in dr Elaine Aron's book that depression and anxiety are more common among HSPs, but only in those people who also had a difficult childhood. When HSPs have a regular or good childhood, depression and anxiety seem to be less common than among non-HSPs. But if you experience these things, finding someone to talk to about it can be a big help. Take good care of yourself! 🌿🌻

I subscribed. I think I desperately need this channel... I struggle with sensory overloads a lot due to my autism and ADHD that make me hypersensitive. Before I had my antidepressants I was even so negative about it, that I felt stuck because I no longer wanted to live with my own brain that made me suffer, but I was (luckily) to scared for dead and the unknown to kill myself... I have sensory overloads legit almost every single day... at the moment school is overwhelming because I'm not used to all the noises anymore after the quarantine... it makes me miserable and really hard to not hate my hypersensitivity... when I focus on it, i can think of a lot of positives (like that it helps me understand people and be really empathetic even though I am autistic), but it's hard to remember, when you feel like you are being tortured by it... Do you have some tips on how to focus on the positive? Not just what they are, but how to not forget about them

One of the biggest and most hurtful lies told about Autistic people is that we have no empathy. We are in fact the true empaths of this world aka "highly sensitive people". Neurotypicals claim that we have no empathy because we do not see the world as they do and often cannot relate to them, however, we sense emotions and environments in a way that they do not and to a depth of processing that they do not. If 90 odd percent of the world sees the world as you do then of course you will be able to understand and predict how they will feel about things. What neurotypicals call "empathy" is actually a lucky guess on their part because 90 something percent of people DO happen to think as they do and experience the world the way they do. When it comes to understanding us and empathising with us, their so-called empathy falls way short. I say this because you said "even though I am Autistic" and I don't want you or anyone reading this to think that Autistic people don't have empathy. That is an outdated, wrong and deeply hurtful thing that has been said about us by people who, ironically, think this very thing because they lack empathy for us. On the contrary, it is our deeply sensitive nature/nervous system an our extreme and intuitive empathy that can cause such problems for us in this intense and sometimes hurtful world #ActuallyAutistic.

@@MagickCat1 I do disagree with you on all this as I have lived with a lot people who have autism and I have seen them not really having empathy so there is truth to that autistic people lack empathy.

I avoid videos photos, is better when I get the news from someone else because they always say a little information. For example there was a train accident and people died, I was sad when someone told me. But when I searched and watched videos, photos, and I read about people who died names, ages, family, I was worst. Thats what I avoid to do. Knowing there was an accident and people died was enough, I had to stop there I didnt need more information.

Hi Vera. As you know I am new to your channel...and I love it. Normaly I would never say anything negative to a you tuber.. Please see this as a kind of "praier" from me..... As I am sensitive I am especially sensive of sounds... I feel so sad that I can not focus on some of your videoes because of the music in the background... I would not tell you this if I wasn't so desperate to see your videoes about sensitivity. (minimalist videos I also love but there are a lot of them elseware.. I just think I would let you know this bc. this videos I made for sensitive people. Had to give up listening today (have a bad day)..so sorry. Love from Joan in Denmark

Hi there, thanks for your feedback and for using kind words 😊 I always mix my music in the lowest volume so I didn't know that there were people who find it distracting. I actually did a poll 2 weeks ago with my viewers about the music volume, and they told me it was just right. But everyone is different of course.😊 For now I'd like to suggest the following: turn down the volume until the music is almost gone and then use the English subtitles to watch the video. Hope that helps!! 😄🌿🤗

Hi, I consider myself a highly sensitive person however the only thing that I don’t feel is being uncomfortable on parties or loud music. In fact I love concerts, dancing and having fun until long at night. It’s because it makes me feel free from my usual overthinking and over sensitivity. Does that still make me a HSP? Or is too much of an anomaly

Hi Vera, thank so much for bringing this subject.... I'm 46 and actually fought all my life against this high sensitivity (always heard... you're too sensitive, too fragile, you need to work to be stronger etc) and for instance, I never consciensly learned to listen to my intuition or to explore any creativity (always thought I had zero creativity 😉). Would you have any tips for those 2 subjects ? Thanks a lot and 'Groetjes' from Brussels 😊

  • @SimpleHappyZen

Hi Gisele, thanks so much for sharing your story 😊 I think a lot of us have heard comments like that, sometimes even meant as good advice, and it's just not true. I think it's great you're exploring your intuitive and creative side, and I think they go well with each other (for example, when trying something like painting, you can also practice using intuition). I joined some intuitive art classes a few years ago and I loved it. It's nice to feel free to paint whatever, and not want it to be "good" but simply paint whatever you feel. Something like that might be nice 😊 Try to create something, anything, without an inner critic judging the quality, and for example just use colors to express your mood. Or get creative with something else, like cooking or journaling. 😊 Succes ermee en fijn weekend!! 🌿✌

Hi Vera, I still confuse about definition of sensitivity . Is it physical matter or physicological matter ? Could you please explain it more details with the examples ?

  • @SimpleHappyZen

    @SimpleHappyZen

    5 жыл бұрын

Sure thing! It basically means we are more sensitive to ALL stimuli, so internal and external, physical, mental and emotional. We can be extra sensitive to loud noises, bright lights, strong smells, agressive commercials. We can see something sad (for example an old person who appears lonely) and so strongly empathize that we feel heartbroken the whole day. We can also see lots of details that others tend to miss, and gather a ton of information subconciously. Our body reacts more strongly to things like cafeine, alcohol, but also hunger, and tiredness. For some people, like me, it also means I bruise way more easily, and my immune system gets low more easily. There's a difference in the way our mind processes stimuli, it does so a lot more deeply than that of non-HSPs. We also often have a very active mind, lots of racing thoughts. All this can lead to highly sensitive people getting overstimulated, overwhelmed, overaroused and tired easily. We also have a higher risk of burning out. This deep stimulation making us overaroused is basically the only downside to being highly sensitive. But it's something to take extra good care of. Hope this makes it more clear :)
