75ton rotator off loading mixer bowls

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We were called by one of our good accounts for assistance in removing a couple of mixer bowls to then be transported. Both mixer bowls were full; the first having 10 yards and the second about 9 yards.
Mixer bowls can be tricky since unlike a container they do not have direct lift points. I chose to go with the 75ton rotator aka big flipper on this job since I knew I would have to be pretty extended out off the side. The truck performed well and I hope you guys agree, let me know what you think!
Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see our daily recoveries and to be on the lookout for the new Pepe's calendar coming out soon.

Just recently found your channel and wanted to give a big thumbs up. I am no recovery specialist, but for my amateur vote, you are definitely one of the most professional groups out there. I have watched vids from around several different heavy tow / recovery companies and Pepe's is up there. It is awesome to how all the Pepe guys jump in and help each other out during a job.

And might I add concrete trucks on the east coast are spec'd so different. That size would probably be a front loader, with the rig being a oshkosh 6x6 with a lift axle on single floater style tires, and its compact, no extra frame at all between cab and drum. I always thought that California style of the axle dropping down behind the truck was silly. Then again check out a Michigan special

The next step for the rotator truck company is to install a series of sensors in the crane that can transmit info to your smart phone giving you real time data as to the amount of stress that your rig is dealing with. And then recommend adjustments to put the least amount of stress on your rig.

@@PepesTowingService I will find out for you. Let me be clear we use the loader to unload and switch (Empty Drums) if it had any more then a yard we chip it out prior to lifting it off. The only way that Drum could weigh 40K is if it had 9 plus yards still in it. My mixer is way bigger then that one and mine has 6 axles and fully loaded with 10 yards the load and truck weigh out at approximately 82K depending on how much build up is in the Drum. So if that Drum was empty it would only weigh I'm guessing 6 to 8 thousand pounds. I will repost that exact weigh of an empty 11 cubic yard drum. You guy's rock Josh.

  • @dandunning4409
    @dandunning44092 жыл бұрын

Been awhile but never the less. A new empty 11 yard Mixer Drum weighs about 5 thousand pound's I am told. But you can have a lot of build up in the drum making it much heavier. If their was a catastrophic failure and the drum had a full load of 10 yards then your around 45 thousand for just the drum. 4000 per yard give or take depending on the mix.

why do you always lift from the side rather than back up to the load

Working off the sides has a multitude of benefits. Also why buy a Rotator if you're just going to use it off the back? Just buy a wrecker if that's the case

An empty tub doesn't weigh much BUT concrete is close to 2 tons per yard. 10 yards is 21 1/2 tons 21k. Plus tub. BUT this is a 75 ton rotator. Should be nothing to it.

There exists a high powered hydrojet that would break all the concrete

@17:12 "I love your KZread channel". Josh...I love it also, BUT, I wish you would hire a dedicated camera person because the head-mount system makes me nauseous.

It's probably just me, but I think I would have dropped that load down to about 4 feet off the ground as soon as the truck body cleared. That would have cleared the trailer and been a safer height. It wasn't likely of course, but if anything had failed with the rigging with that bowl in the air, you would have had a 20 ton top spinning and rolling all over the place. Not good.

They ought to use some left over concrete from jobs and fix their own yard, so t's not a mud pit.

Mixer bowls to then be transported, why ? I'm unclear why this was called to be done, even after reading the narrative ? Usually concrete is mixed & placed in job site formwork.

These were damaged /wrecked bowls sitting for a long time. They were transported to either repair or destroy

Stand up a camera on a tripod somewhere out of the way, turn it on, and forget it until the job's done. Five minutes, tops.

I have tripod GoPro views in a lot of my other videos. But like I find myself saying a lot, you can't please everyone. On those videos, people say "wish I could see and hear the setting up/lifting process" etc. That's why I use a mix of helmet, tripod and drone.
