Fishing out a car that crashed into the wash

LAPD called us on August 6, 2019, to recover a vehicle that drove off the sidewalk, through a fence and landed head first into the wash. We responded with our 75-ton rotator and flatbed to get the job done quick. All four boom lines were used on this job to precisely lift it out the wash, then it was set onto the flatbed for transport after the police finished their investigation. The drone would not fly due to the railroad restrictions, so footage was captured with my helmet and a tripod.
As always, we make adjustments as needed to complete any job we’re faced with. In this instance, when the car went off the side of the road, through the fence and into the wash, it landed so that the rear of the car was in the air. There are many ways you can do this job. Normally, we would just lift the car by two rims, and put it directly on the flat bed. But for this job since we have time and we want to be extra safe, we’re going to grab the car using all four boom lines from the four rims of the vehicle, lift it and then put it on the flatbed. Our team carefully get the trucks ready and in position to lift the vehicle from the wash.
Using a telescopic ladder, our team heads into the wash to secure the boom lines to the rims of the vehicle. We have to be very careful when securing the boom lines to vehicle as the vehicle could move at any time. This particular vehicle seemed pretty secure in its resting place, but you always have to be ready to jump back in case the car moves.
We make sure that all of the cables are attached properly to the rims of the vehicles, but we notice that the fence that the car drove through is still semi attached to the vehicle and if we were to start lifting, the fence would have lifted too. We used wire cutters to cut the fence free from the car so we could safely lift the vehicle from the wash. We slowly lift the vehicle from all four of its wheels and get the flatbed truck into position. From there, we rotate and lift the car onto the flatbed truck so that we can transport it to its final destination. All in all, it was a fun job!

Those two auxiliary winches come in very handy when you need them.
When working around my dad, and he asked me to hand him wire cutters, and I'd hand him those, I'd get my ass handed to me lol

It varies. A lot of times there is no insurance on the car so we don't get paid.
