    Hello, I am a TV repair technician for 15 years when you change the screen you have to put a large cardboard and put the screen on top of it as a tray, and so there is no risk of anything, since I saw it, I asked myself how brave you are but yes to Sometimes it happens to me it happens many times but with the cardboard down there are no problems.

    I fixed my tv the other day lg one with a couple of lenses fell of the tv LEDs ect which is a common fault on LG TV's always lay the tv screen down on a soft towel and lift the back of the tv then theres no need for suction cups and no strain on the extremely fragile screen plus you lessen the chance of damage to the ribbons !

    This happens so easily to break it. When i do that kind of work i put it face down on a blanket on the bed. So you don't have to worry about the screen at all. And the lines come from this small "ribbon cables" that are conecting the screen to the T-Con board. They`re super fragile and are just glued on, so the come off very easily. When i'm working on them i mostly put some tape over them to support them so they don't come off. These things weren't meant to be repaired at all.

I'm not a pro tv repair tech but I have done quite a few backlight repairs as well as tcon boards, main boards, power boards, etc. So many things were done incorrectly here. From the white reflective panel you cut to how you separated the lcd panel from the frame, how you had the tv upright instead of laying down, not securing the backlights properly, yikes.

    don't know what solder wire you are using but 400 degrees celsius is bit overkill for that little wire you are soldering , plus flux in that wire gets evaporated very fast and makes solder worse. I assume you are using leaded solder wire which melts around 170 degrees so 240 to 270 would be more reasonable to use ...

  • @100SteveB
    @100SteveB8 ай бұрын

    I feel for you mate. Having broken one myself I know how it feels. I really wish that manufacturers would make the LED's accessible from the rear, it would not take to much to make the metal back plate in two parts - the part with the led's, and the frame. Then you could simply remove a few short screws and remove the plate holding the led's without disturbing the screen at all. Might make the manufacturing process a couple of quid more expensive, but it would mean that tv's could easily be serviced. So many tv's get chucked simply because an led or two had failed. Just a typical example of things being designed not to be serviced.

I've never actually seen it done that way - I would want that to be cushioned and safe and then lif3ted everything up and away from it. Too late for that now. Are the boards worth anything? Don't suppose so, really. I image that you might get about half of your money back. Lesson learned. Respect, though - some might have not bothered uploading and claimed that someone made you an offer for it, as is.

    @@cheapasstech this 85" hisense that I did, did have a bezel. I separated the screen from the bezel kind of like phil did and I had to use some double sided tape that was extremely thin and narrow. Should have popped the bezel off with the lcd panel makes it so much easier than having to scrape all the factory doubled sided tape off the bezel and the lcd panel, apply new double sided tape and align the lcd to the bezel while you cant see the face since its upside down. That's how I know phil did it wrong from the very start lol. The tcl is built the same way as the hisense and onn brands. He also could have used a putty knife to pop the backlight strips off the back as to not break them. That always works for me. The new backlight strips should have had adhesive on the back already and it looks like phils did have black spots of adheasive so not sure why he was saying he had to figure out how to secure them down. Not sure what an insulation board would do to help vs a blanket unless youre talking about popping the bezel with the lcd attached to it, face up, putting the insulation board on top of it and then flipping the whole tv over and pulling the frame off that way.

    I'm not a power supply expert either so don't listen to me either 😁. I just power on the device, if it turns on, and while it is on I unplug it! drooping voltage never hurt any device I fixed and power supply always are discharged

    Some repair shop must have carelessly cut the wire with a box cutter.

    What you could do. Is have some sort of clear table. So you dont have to flip the screen. I rather have a crummy camera angle than a broken screen.

    During the entire video I was thinking that maybe when it's big screens you're repairing, you could just leave the panel flat on the table and then lift the shell instead of the panel. That's precisely why I don't trust suction grips.

    It’s just one of those things where you know better, and still… You know the space is too small to handle the tv screen properly, but still.. You know the suction cups is not a good idea and the risk of one letting go, but still.. You know you should have 2 persons to handle the lcd panel, but still.. We all have done this, and sometimes you get away with it, sometimes you don’t. I just broke a 2000 euro marble table, transporting it laying flat, I knew I should have put it on it’s side, but still.. so I feel your pain, we know better… 🤷
