I used plumbers flux by accident when I first started soldering a few years ago, not because I was cheap but I saw branded flux and thought that was very expensive and no name ones cheap and thought it was the compromise (and didn't realise it was plumbers flux) I used it to desolder a few small things nothing major but one thing I used it on was a faulty Japanese Mega Drive which had part of its board cracked (still worked just in bad condition inside) I had it in a box for a few months went to turn it on and nothing took case off and the insides were all corroded.

It did it after the first few months but stopped and now almost 3yrs on it's doing it again. Ive tried setting, TV and PS5. Reset settings, different hdmi cord and ports, tried wiggling HDMI. I clean my PS5 2-3 times a year. Idk it's clean. It's up vertical but idk what to do. Any advice or should I just take it for repair?

@TheCod3r I've recently discovered your channel having come from @StezStixFix to @Mymatevince and @JoeyDoesTech. In my opinion, you are technically the best repairer out of these, however your criticism of others and disparaging comments about factory workers and Starbucks employees does detract from the quality of your videos. You admit that you've come from a checkered past to get to where you are now, and hats off to you. Starbucks employees, factory workers, and novice tech repairers might still be in their journey to greatness. Perhaps a more positive way to approach these frustrations is to explain why what they have done is wrong, and educate viewers on the correct methods and techniques. If you do read this, I hope you can take it constructively. We are always learning and growing. Please do keep the excellent technical content coming. All the best.

What does having CP (Cerebral Palsy) have to do with him or you using the R word? There is absolutely no correlation between the two. CP (Cerebral Palsy) is a neurological disability yes but the part of the brain that is affected is not that which deal with cognitive reasoning or understanding. Messages/ signals from the brain to other muscles in the body get mixed up, meaning the muscles are shorter (not as long the bones in the arms, legs etc). Physically making things more difficult which results in constant pain/discomfort. You have to manually extend and strengthen them. to stop the muscles from seizing up/ becoming more stiff.

@@samuelm-B-H-8963 CP can also affect other things, in my case behavior and motor controls. that was what the drs said so long ago now. and yes I have had the R-word used against me so many times when I was in school that I lost count. it took years to get rid of the tics and most of the spasmodic jerking but not enough that other kids wouldn't pick up on it. so yes I have had it used against me and others that were in a special ed class that I shared with them, one that had the worst-case scenario of CP. completely wheelchair bound, the only way she could communicate was with this pretty elaborate setup that would generate phrases for whatever button she pushed on the keyboard... I could only hope that she didn't understand what was going on. so yes there at one point the r word was being used against those with CP. but again I only said what I did because this instance generated such a visceral response. trust me, the R-word would be considered tame compared with what I would want to say.

Thermal paste cures all 😂 I am nowhere near your level but I know how to clean and replace liquid metal in a PS5 and also know when to pass on to someone with more skill and tools than I do when it's a bigger job

What size & type or solder for this type of electronics? I’m a amateur noob and tried a few of the rolls my old father R.I.P had lying about. Thick and thin that either burned too fast and left balls of solder in wrong place, or slow burn fat solder that wouldn’t stick. Help a noob do some simple soldering please! p.s I bought a good soldering iron kit with heat gun etc but I lack the proper type of solder. Thankyou 😊❤

Who the F uses thermal paste on the vram and the surrounding modules. The paste is not working at all. That`s why there are thermal pads or a thicker substance applied on top of them. It will corrode for sure. I really feel for you. Great video as always :)

Well, isn't it the perfect amount of thermal paste to keep the console tightly closed without any screw? ..... God, I can feel your rage. If this happened to me I'd turn a taken-style Liam Neeson on that seller...

I remember when I worked on my first consoles. At least I had the forethought to watch a few KZread videos to see the proper way to do these repairs before trying myself. And yep I screwed a few up, but I didn’t go on eBay and lie about it. I owned it and used the rest of the parts as spares. 😂🤦‍♂️

Love it seen this one on eBay myself and knew it looked fishy. Ebay is absolutely broken at the moment partly because of your success, have people buying these and not taking any care ruining them then relisting them for sale. More money than sense some people... I know I'll buy one of these have no clue and make it impossible to fix but it's ok I'll just resell it. I actually think eBay should detect if you've recently purchased something you are now selling then it highlights the fact and allows buyers to see the previous listing. People paying near £200 for these broken, total screw loose.
