I've been at tv repair for 30 years and I have to say huge respect for performing component level repairs on that type of main board, without a circuit diagram too. To say they're not technician friendly to work on is a huge understatement. Usually it's far easier to just be a board jockey but at £150 a pop that's not really an option. Personally I'd not attempt it without a circuit diagram in order to check the various waveforms with my scope. Anyway great content mate, keep it up.
It’s nice to see you repairing different stuff, Phil.

With TVs i would always check if service manuals are around for that particular model. They can be super helpful by telling which voltages are to expect at which test points and stage of the power cycle.
hey, I just stumbled onto your channel and subscribed...as an old tube radio restorer, I have to admire anyone attempting to repair a modern TV without any schematics! 👏 very interesting!👍👍

Old Buzz learns new tricks... Nice😊!
That's one pretty HUGE power supply! Wow!
Hi, I recently replaced the powerboard in my 65 inch LG oled. I got the board for £47 Inc delivery from Emos Electronics. Also, LG will replace the powerboard for free on models between 2016-2019 because they have a known fault ;-)

Really, do you need proof of purchase?
If you do get another board it would be interesting to see you trying to learn what the problem was with the previous board.
Kitten! Video is a solid 10/10 and I'm just 3 sec in EDIT: 2 kittens? 11/10!
I am a tv repair guy doing it 25 year if you change all the boards its still not gonna turn on and destroy your boards its a screen issue thats why the price is so low
you can try to bypass, pwr_on and drv_on with 3.5V, to see if power board supplyes the 12V and 24V, and you will know if PSU is good or not
LOVE YOUR WORK BRO Glad you sorted your hair BTW
Best advert I've ever seen that mate, give yourself a pat on the back Phil.
That kitten is so cute. Blimey its a kitty riot .
Love watching your videos so therapeutic
Good to see you branching out and trying different things from consoles. A bit of variety is welcome.
Careful with that SMPS. It is more like 330v DC sitting in those caps on the power supply. Love the channel and shop btw.
Love your show bro. Starting my own business and I'm going to try and buy all my parts from you.
I want to see more kittens! Your advert was really good!! The PSU fault looks like a tricky one
You should have done what you do with consoles. Inject voltage with a lower security tolerance. I understand you wanted to inject the correspondents tensions to see if it worked but if it wasn't, you've should be aware that it could have a short. Maybe you injected too much voltage to a line that wasn't supposed because it had a short
You are amazing man, learned a lot from you
Cod3r videos are always enjoyable to watch but the kittens take it to another level. 😎🐈⬛
Protection circuit shuts down the PSU to stop mainboard being damaged. I know I'll inject voltage to bypass the protection circuit. Oh, now the mainboard is completely dead.
2 minutes innto the video as a first time guest and I know I'll stick around for good. Now, let's see))
Wow. That’s some view count last TV vid Phil👍👍 This is interesting different stuff to watch successful or not at the end. BTW I have an LG TV and the click only happens after 4 hours of use when shutting off and on whenever it’s done a previous pixel refresh.
g`day phil your not having much luck with these tv`s hope you get it sorted mate ... good video... cheers mate
I've experienced a 240V sting coming from power supply. It was kind of a strong shocker, got jumped off the ground like a paper which gets blown by a leaf blower
Hey Phil !! You cleaned up my man :) I like the hair cut and you genuinely are looking a lot healthier. Keep it up with the great vids too :):)
I love how "The Coder" becomes "Dakota" in the auto generated subtitles
I think tvs are the perfect thing to learn to fix these days cause not many people are repairing them the bigest issue is no diagrams readily available but if he does figure out the way some major brands work there maybe some money in this area.
love your videos bro i really learned alot from you. I have a request that plz try to fix what u start it really hurts when u stop. the suspense really kills me😀
Great video Phil! Hopefully, you can repair Sarah's newest TV. You have plenty of kittens, you should try a CAT-scan. Good Luck! Thank you. 😀
I've just come across your channel I don't no how but I'm staying lol
The relay click is the t.v going into protection mode. Could be panel issue. You need a scope to check output signals.
As long as no board internal short (which I doubt) you should definitely see where the 5 amps are drawn with the thermal cam, even when the ouchie method failed. But I agree with you, maybe you toasted the board while accidently injecting 24V (or even 12V) to the 3.5V line, so a new CPU board is in order.
love your videos keep up
Great video
Just found your channel buddy, love what you do,and your little furry friends 😅😅
Love the MacBook repair stuff! Thanks from the USA!!!
Tv with no power always look at standby voltage first, that is the protection circuit, bypassing and injecting higher voltage only causes more problems
Love the advert, has lots of personality 👍
Short on ram and IC might come from the CPU itself. Your best chance might be to buy the mainboard, depends if it's worth it for you
Came for the Cats. Stayed for the epic lessons
You could have just tested the power supply buy sticking your tongue to it...Thanks for the video Phil. Gonna message you as soon as I can. I miss the hanging out.
I'm only here for the cat. Great work phil.
You can normally jump start tv power supplies, look at the pinout and sometimes there labelled PS-on or something similar
you should get a painters easel to put the tv on while working on it, could fit it in your workshop then.
Phil, I love the channel, you do great work, but this time, I'm also here for the kittens!!
fresh trim bro good to see diff things like tv
Great kitty action 🐈⬛😻
Your catassistant is a super nice dude 😸😸😸
should be marked on the board - most stb voltages are 5 or 12v the enable line should either be grounded or pulled high. backlight detection (if present) is a probable cause for the PSU not turning on. - backlight (not on oled) is around 150V. that click sounds as an enabled one. there is a mosfet that starts the tv to turn on next to the main chip.
My LG went a similar way. It kept trying but failing to switch on once it cooled down, you could hear the click of a relay now and again. If I warmed it up with hairdryer it would switch on and stay on
i was studying for my radio ham exam in early 80s my mentor had us fixing crt tv there was 2 types europien and asian boards were interchangeable baird grundig ect
We dont come for the repairs anymore... we are here for the cute little kitty's
You got to do another one bro third time lucky you know it makes sense 🇬🇧✌️
I hope u get it fix Phil 👍🏾
We have a mymatevince car repair,so when are we going to have a thecoder car repair?(or even a airplane repair)
no backlight with OLED haha, The pixles light themselves also the power supply wont fully fire up unless it gets a good signal from the main board
again ......hey there its me margaret ...........well done a man never give up
Wouldn't a high-power resistor between bench PSU and potentially-functional TV power rails have been a bit more advisable?
I had a lg oled with similar looking internals and the same "click" issue, it turned out to be the cpu or voltage rail to the cpu shorted and replacing the main board fixed it, I did have to mess with the service menu to get the colours to show correctly
love the content mate and that kitty is a mini version of my bellacat le mog . mates dad is a t tech repairs em etc , says most isuues come from a cap by the power switch , im no expert tho but he fixed my telly . light came on for power one day died and clicked and power light was on so similar thing . said was just a cap and funny same model telly too
Just a heads up a torch wouldn't work on these sets as they don't have a backlight, OLED are self emitting
Someone doesn't learn ;). If you're going to work on TV's as well you can't go wrong buying working boards. The ones that fail can be donors which later will help you finish a repair just like having spare console boards does now. Also get very familiar with replacing caps as a lot of TV's need a full recap. Those will usually give you a blinking power light "code".
Nooooo!!!! Im invested now! I need to know now! haha
The guts in this thing are absolutely massive compared to the last TV
Had 3 of these tvs I buy them faulty to fix and sell them on. Always the tcon that goes faulty and you need to download the lg service remote after changing the boards so you need a phone with infra red. These tvs have the best pictures when they work

Fixing plat panels and curved TV's is a rabbit hole which can cost, been there, got burned, not looked back!
Phil have you tried talking to the guys at your local Tip ? Maybe they could become helpfull in regards to electronics waste. I have seen full Tv panels with the remotes included. Obviously there is a reason for there disposal,
Hi there look for a guy called Michael Dransfield Samsung tv clicking when powering on its on KZread hope this put a bit of light on your problem
hard luck Phil looks like Tv are hard/uneconomical to repair I do think it’s the main board
Probably too late (you may have already ordered, obtained the main board) but maybe worth dropping a line to tv repair community (allen fleckney, who seems to know everything). As an aside use caution when injecting voltages using power supplies, most have little or no protection for power feeding back into the power supply and there may be continuity between 0V and mains earth, which can cause issues.
I hope you can fix it, as I have the same problem with a Sony 55” tv
I had a 8k lg nanocell tv recently that use to make a loud clicking noise when turned on. Over the course of a few week the tv developed an issue when watching tv the relays use to click (loud) just like someone had turned the tv off and back on really quick. Lg deemed the tv unrepairable and issued a full refund, after a small bit of research it turns out lg have a very common problem with the relays.
Sounds like the main board was already shot and you helped it on its way to totally shot..
Hey was there a part 2 ?
Hi, with the videos I have looked at, it may be the power supply not getting the correct power to startup the power supply. The standby transformer starts the power supply,
I wonder how it turns out and what plan of action you end up taking with this :)
Nice man!!! Love these!!! We should all Learn to Repair and further more learn to solder!! Im an electronic engineer and have built tube amps for years!!

Im glad those caps are super heavy and u have 4 of them
I did this with the same tv I bought one. The screen looked fine, so I bought another one with a broken screen. The same model swapped the boards over, and it still didn't work. Turns out when looking on reddit a faulty lcd can cause this problem
lol, we need a TheCod3r_Kitty channel 🤣🤣
Just recently grabbed a 'dead' 58" 4k Sharp. Bad backlights. Cost me $40 for LED strips and 2 hours of labor. Would I do this regularly or for profit? NOPE. But scoring a huge $40 (minus my labor) Roku 4K TV was a minor victory in life!
The master 🎉🎉
There could be 300-400VDC on the power supply PCB.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that. That's even more painful. Edit: Actually no, not really, it would just give u a strong arc. The most painful voltage shocker comes from audio amplifiers. Touched the output leads on 3000.1 amp, that musical electricity flowing through me felt really unpleasant I will put it that way, the varying frequencies makes it way more unbearable.
Keep trying new stuff, it can only make your better! I'd recommend a thermal camera though. Recently, there have been some new developments in thermal cameras from China(You want to buy a thermal camera from a country that doesn't have ECCN-type restrictions). And if you want to look posh, I'd recommend a fancy hat :P
as i watching this im working on a sony bravia 50" no power too 🤣😂 i hope i can fix it and you too
Cool hopefully you get it fixed respect GGG-unit!!!😅
18:05 ....is that lid what I think it is lol.....got a draw full myself mate!

I don't know what lid you're referring to mate
My lg oled tv sometimes goes black the is still sound but no picture after a couple of mins it has picture again. Any idea whats broken?
Need part 2
I would just buy the same model with a broken screen and swap screens.
Also whats with the pet in the top right hand corner under the cables?
Bro invest in a thermal camera that will be very useful for finding shorted parts but the good ones with high frame rates.
We need more kitten content!
Sharp haircut! Nice
is that a real roach to the right? 11:44 never seen one in uk

Did you fix the TV in the end ?
I bought a brandnew LG tv in 6 months after updating it, it killed the mainboard. Lg engineer couldn't even figure out why or what actually happened, LG had to replace the TV for me.
I've got a Phillips 55 ambilight 4k TV with line in the middle of.the screen is it possible to get fixed? Please let me know I would 🙏 really appreciate your feedback I have been watching your videos since before I got my PS5 and because of you I took the extended warranty thanks and very thankyou because I know.your.the top of tree and really trust your opinion mate cheers

hi I have repaired 2 of the same tvs with different issues but usually lines on the screen is unrepairable and would need a new lcd pannel which would probably cost more than a new TV
I have a TV that runs for about 5 minutes and cuts off to standby. It then proceeds to turn to stand by quicker and quicker so it must be a power supply issue somewhere
