Honestly looks like by product of an insurance job, possibly water damage, burst pipes in house or flooded and the house has been stripped and stuff thrown in the skip, then the house replastered and the remnants also thrown in the skip, often see paint in there too. The inspector will be on hand and count the losses as they are thrown away. I've seen stuff like this before when redecorated job for insurance, never a games console.but often TVs and kitchen appliances etc.

Thats the one thing i hate about eBay now, people think their trash is gold plated or something. Shouldn't matter to the seller if you can get it working or not, you have the skills to. Excellent work, by the way.

Too many idiots who when they find/get something they intend to flip on ebay, that turns out doesn't work, just toss in in the trash. So the high prices are due to how few sellers list anything for spares/repairs. Ebay don't help either, by making it too easy for idiots who can't read to buy broken items and then complain they didn't know and get a full refund.
Excellent recovery Phil! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw it working. Well Done! and for the $150 there would have been some money in pulling components at the very least. I would love to see more of these kinds of repairs. Awesome!
Not many would even attempt this repair. Very cool to see this. Hope you're successful. 😊
That has got to be the best in video advertisement I have ever seen, and probably the most honest too. Well done 😂😂
There's an ebayer sends me stuff in the same condition, he works in a recycling center so I get the spoils. The stuff I get is in some right states as you can imagine but quite often I get it working or can use the parts. It's quite amazing what people throw away.
Great restoration video Phil, impressed you managed to get it wirking to this state already !! 👍👍. Looking forward to the next parts 👍
Great job mate you really are a superstar in your own field love it , if i ever have any sort of electronic problem i know who im calling its you mate :) your skills are just insane.
Reminds me of the 3 xbox one consoles from my Son's house fire. I had cleaned the boards in the sink with dish detergent and a soft-bristle paint brush, followed with a drying in the oven. 2 out of 3 survived the fire and are still operating several years later. Videos like the ones you, and others, share with us gave me the confidence to tackle that little disaster. I still have hopes for the 3rd xbox (the worst) and actually had it running until it black-screened. I have a re-timer chip for that and with more SMD practice... you never know. Thanks Phil!
Pro tip for anyone with a condenser tumble dryer: the condensate water is distilled, which makes it really good for cleaning electronics as it has no minerals!

I saw this Xbox listed on eBay and thought no way.. no one will touch this.. fair play to you.
WOW nice fire Phil....lol. I am in shock it didn't shut down when that happened. Another great video mate!
Amazing video Thanks.
Nice to see a video where Phil gets plastered !
Repair and a Smoke show, Awesome! Thank You.
Great stuff! i used to repair iphones, watching your videos makes me want to try something different like consoles etc.
great video phil, you should be a shop teacher to show how to fix things the proper way, your a very smart tech
Was not expecting actual fire! Great repair up to that part :p
Great video I never would have thought in a million years that it would have worked seeing the amount of plaster on the circuit boards 😊 regardless the fire 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Excellent video. Great work. Fred Flintstone Will be happy 😁. Shame on the disk drive . love the magic smoke 🎉
Your humour is top notch mate 😂
Excellent repair great work.
I think from the amount of top coat plaster in that the labourers didn’t get paid 😮
This is not the first time I've seen this done as a matter of fact I've done it myself , then the next step would be I have a flat container with isotopic alcohol that I would lay it in that would dissipate the water and then you would take it out and stick it in like a oven and at low heat for about 10 to 15 minutes to dry the alcohol, I have also seen the videos of people who clean their boards and dishwashers.
You should look at getting a big dehydrator to use for drying out the boards. Might take a bit longer but they are made to remove water moisture from things a watery as a tomato. They use less power and would be much gentler on the board. Also you can get pretty cheap ones
@frank-t6857

I was thinking he is using a gas oven to dry the boards. Propane when burning gives out moisture. Not a good idea. He definitely needs an electric oven.
that lit up pretty good.. i've not had anything that catastrophic happen to me (yet)
Well done phil
I used to put engine parts in the oven to dry out. I even used the dishwasher to clean them when the missus was away and wouldn't find out.
Great video hows the family
Phil makes fire. NICE.
New subscriber great watch 👍
only just came across your channel, watched a few video's so far. i like your work,so considering whether or not to get you to look at fixing an xbox one x i have (in bits lol). i was tring to fix it myself which i think i achieved, but putting it back together i noticed the componant that sync's the controller's,the whole plugin ripped off the bottom of the board. would this be something you would be able to fix. i'm not too far from you in south b,ham so could drop it up to you if you willing to take it on.

I can take on the repair yeah, I have a few videos on the channel regarding this particular issue. I wouldn't be able to take drop offs though as I use a forwarding address and can't give out my real address for safety reasons (I've actually received death threats because of youtube) so it would unfortunately have to be mail in only

Work shop fire part 2 you don't half get yourself into some predicament hopefully you can get it fixed look forward to the rest of the videos Gas mark 1 is 135 degrees Celsius
Looks like it was in a major flood and mud flow! 😂
My wife would say... 'PHIL ! Have you been using my sink again' !?
Yeah water is the best for cleaning sugar off of boards (normally most drinks spilled contain sugar)
I think the reason the board blew up is because there's no motors attached, i had a Hard Drive PCB Explode it's motor controller. Never attach PCBs without motors... Bad things could happen, RIP Seagrave 7200
Oh that sucks i just saw the disk drive shoot fire. It looked like you didnt clean it as well as the others.

It sounds broken. Ace: Most likely Sir. I'm sure it was something nice though.
When cleaning the board just saying should remove the thermal paste just in case there is corrosion underneath 😉
"I'm gonna be up for at least another 45 hours." Echo Personnel wants to know your location.
Hi, Gas mark 1 is about 135C
And that's why you don't pug in extra hardware while the board is powered on, LOL!
I'm not an expert like you! I have washed many of my used consoles. Bath with alcohol and then dry for a day. If it is to have a problem it will be visible very soon. After a month of playing and no problems never had a single problem. I have washed a PS2 which was painted and it's been working for over 15 years! The most recent is my Xbox one x. I washed it and changed the power button and for 4 years there's not a single problem or misfire 😊
That is crazy 😂👍
that staining on the copper is copper oxidation. maybe a metal polish will take it off?
Are there any follow up vids on this yet?

Mate. Flying the flag for the Black Country. Love watching these videos to. Big up
That one should of come with a wire brush and vacuum lololl
I'd soak the board first to see how much of the plaster silt will move without removing signs of corrosion underneath
you should clean that board As well. ❤🔥
I have been repairing plenty of electronic things in my life, but I disagree on some action you took. Imho e.g. using an household oven in your house for electronics and food can and will seriously affect your health sooner or later. And I always suggest using the smoothest brush. Not a nailbrush. But it's your show hey, 😉 so thanks for your videos, we are also learning a lot.Great soldering technique! Cheers
My father used that joke as well, “call me anything but late for dinner” dad joke. Id pull that Xbox out of skip too. I’ve got my Xbox 1 and about 160 games for $50 from a guy who needed cash badly. Still got my Xbox 360 , and several old sega master systems x3 and 3x of the old Nintendo 8bit old consoles with games. I bought the lot for $10 at a garage sale. Retro gaming reminiscing my youth. Alex Kidd or wonder boy series was fun.
that joke is De Niro from This Boys Life 1993 if anyone is interested
i,m a guess the ceiling fell on it n heavy rain ? ) gl
I would have took that outside and put a leaf blower over it. You dont want that mess in your work area. Great video though.
This is the kind of board you have to be careful not to catch an STD from.....😂😂
Man first thing I'd do it I'd take the hose to it lol
would have been a perfect candidate for the dishwasher, would have got more out than a scrub. I think
thats been in a flood for sure
I think a parent got angry and was punishing their child for bad behavior. There are hammer marks on the back. They wanted to ensure it no longer worked.
what phone do you use ? Not a bad video for a phone You can always use a normal water and long as you wash in the end with 100% alcohol and dry in vacuum over for 1-2h

Looks like it was in the floods 😅
Who the heck who threw out a console in the skip 😮I think it might have a broken apu or it might be rage go to console fix to get parts 😊

The £5 chip protects the 5p fuse as usual
New to the channel. Omg! You got screwed! How could someone sell you that for parts? It literally looks like its been under water with all of that rust in there. It looks like someone used it as the mixing bucket to mix the plaster. Did you get to see pictures before buying? Thats gonna take 8hrs worth of your labour just to clean it enough to maybe find parts. Im looking forward to see how this thing turns out. I was oing to buy one of these because finally xbox put out a machine that plays all of there games from the first xbox until now. I hated that you got a list of games they decided to let you play from 360 to the one. But i may have changed me mind. Ive seen another of your videos where you say xbox put in bad code that destroys your ssd. Is it the same for systems in canada? North american maay be different than uk? I can pick one up barely used for $400 cad. Is that a good deal? I think it is. If i bought new i might have gotten the ps5. What system do you prefer and why?
