Why not pick the line going out of the radiator, back to the transmission? Then when you pump out fluid, you'll also get fluid out of that cooling chamber.

Hey Travis hope your great ! I have a 1998 sentra, I shift into reverse it works perfectly, but when I shift into any of the drives it won't go, but at times it does catches drive, and then it's perfect till I turn the car off. When I turn it back on it does the same again some time I just put it into drive and accelerate really soft and it catches drive and then it runs perfect again, thanks for your help!

Hiram Marrero hey did you ever find out a solution to your problem? My 2000 Nissan Sentra transmission is doing the exact thing.

does your sentra ever have that problem when it gets stuck in high gear. and wont go back to low gear, until you cycle the engine off and on.... mines doing that. im just gunna guess its an electronic problem... output speed sensor?

I had a similar but different issue ten years ago, I complained to the dealership and they fixed it. Not sure exactly what was fixed, I can only say its control unit related.

Do you do the flush while the transmission pan is empty or do you replace the fluid you drain from the pan and then do the flush?

No. The transmission must continuously have fluid running through the system during this procedure. You add the new fluid as the old fluid is being pumped out. Keep going until you see the pumped out fluid turn red or whatever the new fluid color is. Use your dipstick to figure out if you need to bleed/top off to reach the correct capacity.

Roadeo Cowboy You said first off you want to do the drain on the reservoir pan first and then proceed. So you are saying we are doing this directly after draining the pan with no new fluid? So it goes drain the pan, close the pan, loosen nut for radiator hose, pour fluid in while it leaks from radiator hose. Then tighten the radiator hose and fill the transmission? I just want to make sure I have the process down.

Yes, I missed that first part, you are correct. The draining first speeds up the flush process.

Did you turn the car on to pump the fluid out of the torque converter

Yep. The engine has to be on for the pump to function.
