great video. what I don't understand is why every video I saw puts so much CVT oil and waste it draining out. $20 to $30 a quart and easily over by 1 quart is wasted every time. I'm going to put in what came out and top off after warm up until trickling fluid comes out from the stupid straw. Really stupid of all these car manufacturers.

Right watched one guy he got only one quart out after dropping the pan then he dumps 5 quarts in to watch over 3 quarts dump back out 😂.

I believe us because it needs all thst fluid to go through all the small valleys snd ports it can not have and air lock in it and when it pumps itself through it drains out. Maybe clean containers to catch it and save it as long as it's not hydroscopic abd pulls water into fluid like brake fluid

Is it recommended to have the transmission oil warmed up before you initially drain it? I rewound the video a few times and couldn't notice mention? I thank you in advance
2019 sentra 22600 miles. I did the service. Dumped in 5qts. After 10min of running. Pulled the plug. Had a stream only for a couple of seconds. The 3 magnets in the pan had a lot of muck on them. Kinda disappointing. The old fluid still had good color compared to the new. I used Nissan fluid. Thank you again for the excellent vid.
I removed the large hex key plug below cartridge filter for a thorough drain. Ended up filling with 5 quarts and draining about half a quart residual at warm temp.
Great work, just wanted to see the part of measurement oil meter/wand/bendable to see the level before changing/replacement/or check out quality oil before making the change
Good luck, great job. I'm from Iraq
Just a heads up if you are having a hard time removing the black cap on the fill tube you have the option of removing one 10mm bolt that holds the fill tube to the transmission. Get it out in the open and use a screwdriver for leverage to pop it off. Mine was really stuck on for some reason. Shout out to Nissan for making such a shitty design and no dipstick. F-ing ridiculous. I then used a quart pumper and just filled it without the full tube on. I filled it 4 and 2/3rd quarts approximately before it small streamed (dribbled) out the drain plug.
@ThomasNguyen-qw6ro
3 ай бұрын
I did the same thing, remove the 10mm as you mention, it is much easier than taking the plastic cap off, at dealer, they told me it only need 3.75 quarts, I wonder if you had over filled yours, any impact on driving?
Didn't that pan have a stand pipe in it? Unless it is very low on fluid there is usually more in there you can get if you remove that next. On most cars that does not get all of the fluid out but it gets a lot more. That pipe is usually up in there and removable with an Allen key. For a transmission that has it, the drain plug has to be removed first to get to it. You will also easily spot it in the pan if it is there and not out.
Watch the video again you can see the drain tub rising above the pan. Freeze frame lol you can see it.
Good job thanks a lot

Thank you for the video....well done.

Hello. Thanks for the video. I would like to know how much oil have you filled the transmission with. I guess the correct method is to firstly fill the transmission until oil drops out through the standpipe. Then start the engine and perform the gearbox learning by shifting on all gears. If no oil drops out, then we refill until oil comes out again. Correct me if I am wrong.

Question. When letting out the fluid when the car is running, that is the overflow 14mm plug, not the main 19mm plug, correct?
@OneTrickTech
12 күн бұрын
@thatonedood85 no its the 19mm plug. the 14 mm plug is the engine oil pan, dont remove that.
I'm confused with the oil amount checking procedure. Is there no overflow bolt/plug to remove and let out the excess oil instead of removing the drain bolt? If you remove the drain bolt to check for proper amount, then wouldn't you just be draining all the oil you put in the first place?
@OneTrickTech

There is a second drain plug behind the 19mm one. Its a 5mm hex I believe but that's only to drain it properly and not spill everywhere like in the video(when I removed the pan). Most transmission have similar procedure where you let it drip and that's the indicating of it being at proper level.

no need to drain since all the fluid finds its way in the pan. You might just loose a bit of fluid that's in the filter.
Looks like maybe 7¼-7½ quarts would have been closer?
Hey just to clarify you put in 8 quarts, warmed it up to specific temp, opened drain plug till you got a steady stream, close drain plug and than that was it? You didn’t add anymore fluid after you opened the drain plug? Thanks in advance
@OneTrickTech
2 ай бұрын
@dominicacosta3765 no need to add fluid, as soon as it starts to drip then that's the correct level. A lot of people in the comments are saying the 8quarts is too much. You could get away with just added 5 or 6 quarts. 8 quartz is from the Nissan procedure manual. If you don't have a scan tool to check the trans oil temp, just idle the car for about 10 min and it will reach desired temp.
Is that regular OBD ?

Question, your Title has Juke, your video looks little different than my juke, is the car your changing fluid a later model juke, or different car? Also my juke seems to have a actual dip stick with hash marks. I'm confused why after you fill with fluid, why do you open the drain plug again and empty all the new fluid?

the car in the video is a sentra. Some Jukes with FWD only will have the same procedure. Draining the fluid at the end is to check the level since this doesn't have a dipstick.
